80 /100 100 N FIFTH ST Beautifully renovated building in the middle of this tiny town. Long copper bar, low tables, front porch and beer garden provide plenty of seating options. Small performance space. No food, but a food truck out front. 14 taps cover all the bases for style. Great service. Worth a visit. |
72 /100 11704 SPOTSWOOD TRAIL Tiny little place right off the highway. Looks like an old house. Three seat bar, little anteroom with a couple of chairs. Some outside seating in back. Good service. Beer quality actually good. Six beers on tap and a Seltzer. |
72 /100 100 N FIFTH ST Largely as Braudog days. Crowded on a Saturday afternoon. Flights are offered, but not when they are busy. Definitely unique style. I managed to sample a rauchweizen, eisbock, and imperial pilsner. Copper bar. Mix of indoor and outdoor seating. BBQ truck seems semi permanent. My beers were just ok. |
80 /100 100 N FIFTH ST Just a few miles down the hill from the Swift Run Gap entrance to Shenandoah Nat'l Park, this was a great pit stop. Located in a very well redone historic building in the heart of old Elkton, parking can be a bit spotty depending on how crowded they are, especially during the COVID days when we visited, when part of the parking area was consumed with an expanded outdoor seating area. They offered 10 beers on tap; we collectively had three different ones, all good.
The styles are somewhat unique, notably with more than one smoked beer. There was a brick oven pizza food truck when we visited -- Bella Luna was outstanding. Recommended! Brewery #907. |
64 /100 11702 SPOTSWOOD TRAIL This place is very much a single-wide trailer parked next to a nice deck; arbor ceilings and all. I haven't eaten here, but I've heard the food is every bit as good as the other JB's locations. Beer selection is ok. |
68 /100 11702 SPOTSWOOD TRAIL A bit of a departure from the HBurg and CVille locations, this one is entirely outdoors. Essentially it’s a stationary food truck with a huge deck full of tables, stuck on the front of another restaurant / some kind of retail complex. Hard to spot despite it being right on US33. Really comfortable there today, but winter could get iffy. Hopefully they have some method of heating. No taps, and 50ish cans and bottles, with a good selection of locals and only a few macros. Same menu as the other locations, but the burger here was slightly overcooked which I have not experienced at the other locations. Server was very friendly and helpful. Overall, not worth going out of your way for, but if you’re in the area for skiing or driving through anyway it’s a worthwhile stop. |
