“Quaint country store - and bar - on the approach to the northern entrance to Mount Rainier National Park. We were 'greeted' by their dog laid nonchalantly across the entrance. Most of the store is taken up with groceries, lots of fruit and veg and an impressive amount of jams and honey either made in-house or sourced locally. More pertinent to readers of this site is their sizeable selection of beer and cider in the back fridges. I expected a handful of local bottles in addition to their own cider, the main reason I stopped off, but there's actually a very decent amount of WA/OR stuff, including some pricey but tempting wax-sealed options. I noticed while I was in this back corner that the the narrow left side of the store was a bar, with seperate entrance and sort of concealed behind the counter / till area. Indeed a local arrived for a growler fill when we were there. About 6 or 7 lines if I remember. Unfortunately their own cider was only available for growler fills so we had to pass, although they do have apple juice available. Good place to stock up if heading into Rainier for a weekend.“

“They got breweries all over the place. I say that a lot, because it’s true. Literally the only regions in the world with more are California and Bavaria. When you think of how huge CA is, and how long Bavaria has been a world brewing power, that puts the WA scene in perspective. We’re thriving beyond all reasonable expectations.

Cole Street is tucked back in a light industrial warehouse area, not far off the main drag of 410 in Enumclaw. This is quite the haul unless you either live here or are visiting Rainier; the beers are decent but if you head out here from Seattle just for a pint, you’ll drive by dozens of breweries on your way. I’d keep these guys in mind for post-hike refreshment if you’re coming all the way from town.

They roll up two big doors onto a nice wide taproom. Lots of tables, a nice little bar. There’s outdoor seating. They have thrift store tables, and lots of local artists’ work for sale on the walls. Combined with the intensely fennel-ish potpourri scent in the air, you definitely get a nice small-town mom vibe from the decor. That’s all good, but they could stand to tone down the potpourri a bit, given that people are trying to savor their beers.

The prices are fair, and the people are nice. Beer is solid enough, good IPAs and whatnot--the classic approachable styles most beer drinkers like. It’s a lovely scenic drive to get out here, and it’s fun to see small towns getting their own breweries (the 10,000 or so residents of Enumclaw can actually now claim two breweries).“
