60 /100 UNIT D3, SANDOWN INDUSTRIAL ESTATE
“Visited earlier today - perhaps not the best day as it was a dark and dreary Sunday afternoon. I would describe this as a typical brewery tap set up. I spotted the unit thanks to the hundreds of kegs/casks stacked up in the forecourt - which also made my wife decide it was safer to stay in the car than risk our kid getting crushed, so it was a quick visit! You enter through the main doors into the industrial unit. On the right is an enclosed area with the enclosed bar and office space. The brewing equipment appears to be on the mezzanine roof of this area. There are 3 or 4 bench tables on the left. Tonnes of stacked kegs/casks take up the rest of the space with some room left for a table football... erm... table. There are four taps - three had core offerings and the fourth was off, which was annoying as it was a macchiato brown ale or some such which would have been a tick. Behind the bar is fridge with whichever canned beers they had available plus wine, etc. Their own gin is also available. Friendly guy running the place who gave me a quick run through the newer beers. I bought 6 cans and he rounded it down to £15 so not too bad. Only one other customer - an OAP sat reading something on his mobile. Suspect it's more lively on a Friday or Saturday night. Occurs to me that it's probably not too far a walk from Esher station. My only complaint would be the lack of beers on offer but this is an industrial estate in Surrey rather than Bermondsey or Hackney. However if I am after new Big Smoke beers then the Flint Gate is closer to me.“
