Fall River Beer Guide: Your Fall River guide to beer, beer bars, breweries and brewpubs

Latest reviews from Fall River

“This place is where Douglas & Tanza used to be. Beer selection here is pretty good. I’d say it has the best selection in Fall River. They have some rarer beers, which is always a great characteristic. Staff is not too knowledgeable when it comes to craft brews but are nice and try their best to answer any questions. If you’re in the area swing by and check them out.“

“Solid spot. 24 taps and about that much again in bottles. Cheap flights. Decent selection of local beers.“

“Been here three times now and the selection of drafts keeps improving. The food, especially the Portuguese selections are outstanding. Wish the bar was longer...never been able to sit there. “

Taphouse Grille (Restaurant)
159 S MAIN ST
“Visited: 3-21-12 I came to the Taphouse Grille after trying to go to Battleship Brewhouse and they were closed (on a tuesday at 9pm, no hours posted). A: Typical Bar/Resteraunt with plent of seating in both areas. Nothing that screams NICE BEER BAR, just average. Q: Decent beers on tap, mixed amongst BMC beer. I had to beers while there and they were both decent. S: Attentive but not beer knowledgable. S: A good selection of regional beers and country wide amonst taps and bottles. I had a Blvd Tank 7 and Wachusettes Milk Stout. V: It seemed a little prices as I paid $6 for the Blvd Tank 7 in a tulip...but then paid $6 for a pint of Wachusettes Milk Stout, not a rarity in MA by any means. Overall, okay if you are in the area but not a hot spot by any means. Good enough for one or two when stranded in downtown Fall River.“

Chancellors (Beer Store)

“Currently listed on ratebeer as “Chancellors” this place is in fact a Cardoza’s Wine & Spirits store (same coordinates are currently listed, even the sake phone number). Cardoza’s Wine & Spirits means a large alcohol store with about 25% used for beers, impersonal service, large selection but none of the smaller beer-geek releases, good prices. This place is in Massachusetts but at the border of Rhode Islands. When travelling from MA to RI this is your last chance to take advantage of the superior MA distribution. The usual suspects as far as MA distribution is concerned. I remember buying four or five bombers of Just Beer for a cheap price. Worth a stop but only if you happen to be driving through the area.“

“Large place in a strip mall. Decent enough selection in two sections plus fridges, but nothing really out of the ordinary.“

“More like a large grocery store. Don’t let all the macros in the fridges fool you, there’s a huge section in the center of the store that’s packed with micros, mostly local and regional stuff decent prices.“

Royal Liquor (Beer Store)

“Located in a plaza right after Shaws. Clean place. Selection isn’t all that great but it will do if you’re just getting by. Although I did see a couple of surprises in the cooler. Also has keno.“

“Located in beautiful Fall River with breathtaking views of the cooling tower of the coal power plants across from the ocean. The drink selection is minimal. Buds, Coors, Miller, etc. But if you’re really feeling like a big spender, you can always get a $6 Corona. Service is probably the worst I’ve seen in a LONG time. To top everything off, the smell of disgusting ocean water more than adds to the total dump of a place this is.“

Economy Liquors (Beer Store)

“A very small place on North Main. Not really anything special when it comes to beer. They have all the big boys here, but not really anything for the more craft driven crowd. I think that their big seller is 30’s. I will admit that the prices are decent. Go down the street to Battleship for the good stuff.“

Red’s (Beer Store)

“Nice little place in Fall River. They have a decent beer selection. A lot of 22oz bombers available, as well as some of the more unique 750ml bottles from Belgium. Now don’t get me wrong, this place doesn’t have all of the best brews around, but for what it is, it’s excellent. They also have a nice little section of hot sauces, beef jerky, and wine. It seems that the people here truly want to get something special started. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.“

“Little hole in the wall on South Main. They really don’t have a good selection here (but that’s to be expected if you saw the type of customers this place has), but the owner is really open to trying to get new things in. Prices are good for what it has. Employees are good people also.“

“Nice little spot in Fall River. Beer selection isn’t bad, but the tap selection could use some ugprading. Drinks are a little pricey, around $10, for Fall River. They are open until 2am.“

Globe Liquors (Beer Store)

“Nice place located at the bottom of President Ave. Selection really isn’t all that impressive, but these guys put on a lot of tastings and festivals that are a real good time. Nancy is the person to talk to about getting beers in if you want. Service is a little suspect but they do try their best to help. Much better than the ghetto Economy liquors down the street.“

Taphouse Grille (Restaurant)

“This place has a nice selection of beers here. When I was there they had Duvel and Chiimay on tap. Unfortunately the staff has absolutely no idea about anything related to beer. Food is excellent and the prices are decent. The bar/restaurant itself is very nice. A little too nice for such a dump of a city. This would be perfect in Boston or Providence.“

“Located in a strip mall this place is easy to pass by if you’re not careful. Inside is "cozy" to say the least with tables and a bar that seats about 10-12 perhaps. Depending when you show up the place could be packed to the rafters with people or surprisingly quiet. Beer selection is always rotating and the updated menu boasts good pub/bistro style items. Overall a good local upscale bar in the city.“

Taphouse Grille (Restaurant)

“Nice place to grab some good brews and a bite to eat in downtown Fall River. The interior is very impressive. Lots of wood and tile. Plenty of TVs to catch a game. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. They feature a full bar with about 24 taps. Many local New England brews such as Mayflower, Newport Storm, Thomas Hooker, Allagash, Wachusett and more. A well-represented list. This place has lots of potential....<2014 update> starting to really like this place. good to see it packed on a Saturday. good vibe. very reasonable prices too ($5.75 pints), Wormtown and Limbo...“

“Not bad for Fall River. The beer selection is good. The ambience sucks as this place is tiny and in a strip mall. tiny bar with only a few stools. The food really needs to improve, along with the service. Been here twice and it was the same both times, once busy and once not. 2012 update: selection seems to be much improved since my last visit. Good cross-section of taps. Something for everyone. Bartender friendly and knowledgeable. 2013 update: food keeps getting better. Selection is tops.“

Chancellors (Beer Store)

“This place is a poor replacement for Cardoza’s. The new owners care nothing about what beers they sell. They basically only care about money and that’s in wine. Service has gone downhill and there’s hardly any knowledge in beers. Such a shame. Their old beer manager Rob has moved on to better things, and I don’t blame him. I’ll stick to Yankee Spirits in Swansea.“

“This is a good place to get some grub and some drinks to wash it down. They have a bunch of TV’s that has different sports on each one. Their beer menu has gotten much bigger recently so your selection is pretty descent. They don’t have a lot of rare of big beers but enough to please the average person. Food is another good quality. A true pleasure in Fall River. You get to eat for free on your birthday too!“

“A shiny jewel in dark Fall River. This restaurant does a good job rotating their draft selection so that there’s always something new on tap. Food is excellent and their prices are equally impressive. Service is top notch. They also have a beer club that you can join ($10) in which you have a list of 80 beers to drink, in one year, and when done they give you a mug with whatever you want inscribed in it. This is a place definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.“

“Descent selection but nobody honestly knows much about beer. If you ask for help about anything, they usually don’t have an answer, that is if you can actually find somebody to ask. Prices aren’t too bad, but honestly I’ll just stick with Cardoza’s.“
