“Small spot in a strip mall outside of Farmington proper. Only one person on staff this day but she was friendly and enjoyed talking about the beers available. Very small brew-house setup. $4 tasters $10-$11 growlers. The beers weren’t very memorable but it was a nice spot overall.“

Thai Smile (Restaurant)
103 NARROW GAUGE SQUARE
“Yes, it’s a Thai restaurant in Farmington, ME, with 30 taps of good beer. (It’s a long story.) Somehow, my wife who is temping here, found out about this place. Very good Thai food and 30 taps of good to excellent beer, including Old Rasputin, Maine Mo, Bissel Bros, Allagash, Dogfish, Monk’s Cafe red, Green Flash Lagunitas, Stone, and some locals. People are nice, though they don’t really know much. Food is very good but a little pricey for large portions. Nice enough atmosphere. If you are stuck in Farmington like I am and like I might be for the next three years, you will thank god for this place. It is the only place to drink good beer in town and overall is pretty good.“

Rons Market (Beer Store)
144 FRANKLIN AVE
“Chaotic convenience store stocked with an average beer selection of various ages, including Hennepin with three-year-old label and Pranqster covered in so much dust you could ski on it. Did not have the new Allagash Saison even though it is already in NY, but had a bunch of obscure English ales no one wants. The old woman working had no knowledge of beer whatsoever. The place is cluttered, dusty, and a mess. They have stacks of old beer at discount prices, for example, cases of Red Seal for $14.99. Pizza is excellent for non-New York pizza, fresh tossed. Luckily for them, it’s the only game in town.“

“Ron’s has one of the best selections of beers in Maine, especially for a local "corner store". Home of the Univ of Maine - Farmington - must have more older (and wealthier) kids than I expected. Actually their pizza by the slice is the best I’ve had north of Times SQ (most Maine pizza is bland and doughy - Mainers think bigger is better ( like their woman ! ) )“

Rons Market (Beer Store)

“A very pleasant surprise in a very odd grocery store. They have a whole cooler devoted to Maine beer and a really random, but diverse and exciting selection if imports and regional stuff. I saw Anchorage and similar beers. Prices are reasonable. Definitely the stop to make if you happen to be in this neck of the woods.“

Rons Market (Beer Store)

“Pretty good beer selection - lots of beers sold here that are hard to find in other parts of the state, as well as liquors and some wines. Good service, every time I’ve been, the owner is particularly friendly and knowledgeable about the rare beers he sells. Not the prettiest place in the world, but surprisingly good selection of rare beers, imports, and micro brews (if macros are your thing they of course have that too...). I could/can not get over the selection provided its hole-in-the-wall location in the middle of rural Farmington. I would guess it has the best selection of that part of the state. Includes Samuel Smith’s, Young’s Chimay, Allagash, Unibroue, Murphy’s, Gritty McDuff’s, Wychwood, Oak Pond, and numerous other imports (English, Belgian, Australian, etc) and micros.“
