“Maiden visit on 30th April 2022. The busier of Preston Street's micro pubs. A slightly more industrial atmosphere when compared with nearby Furlongs. Two rooms and no garden. Friendly staff and locals - met with Shane who ran it as the former Corner Tap. Reasonably-sized small and micro brewery keg and cider range from which I chose Liquid Light Dessert Cruiser. Worth a visit as part of a town crawl.“

“Maiden visit on 30.04.2022. Friendly micropub in Faversham High Street. Nicely furnished with plenty of wood, fixed tables and raised seating. Very well kept cask ales available - Maunsell Bitter was faultless. Although a little empty for a Saturday evening, there was a convivial atmosphere as more locals arrived. IMHO the better of the two micropubs on the same road. Definitely worth a visit.“

“Visited this unspoilt pub for the first time in several years. This multi-roomed, split level pub hosts a raised back garden. Exceptionally well-kept ales from small breweries available from 5 hand pumps, alongside a range of keg beers. Mighty Oak Kings Citra and Rother Valley Wealden Bitter were absolutely exquisite. Friendly locals tend to occupy the lower level front room, but there was plenty of free seating on my visit of 30.04.2022. The pub is a timewarp and a destination. Recommended.“

“Straddling the boundary between food hall and farm shop, and just off the M2, this is clearly targeting coach parties and other passing trade just as much as locals. It's got a butcher and bakers along with a restaurant. It has a large range of local food along with the national "artisan" foods you find in such places. There's a decent range of local brews (30-40 bottles?) to take away with breweries featured including Time & Tide and Gadds. Prices seemed a tad high, but I guess that reflects the coach parties location. Still, it's a decent enough place and I would stop off there again if I was passing.“

“Visited on 30th July 2014. Pleasant enough atmosphere, with a good-humoured pub quiz in full swing. Friendly staff. Reasonably kept Shepherd Neame and guest beers, although I’m bound to say I’ve had better despite the proximity to the brewery. That said there was nothing "bad" about the pub at all, and the atmosphere afforded by staff and clientele alike almost pushed the beer into the background on the night. A good "finishing pub" within 10 minutes walk of the rail station. I rather like this pub.“

“Just happened to find this pub on a simple walking map from the Faversham tourist information. It did not seem for real to establish a pub so far out of nowhere, and the map didn’t show any sign of a road either with the exception of a walking pat. So we just had to do this, after about 40 minutes’ walk in the heat in the middle of something between swampland and cow shit we finally find this old building. Wow, what a place – like stepping into something between a private house and some sort of museum. Lots of old things to watch on the walls and in the shelves. Friendly, very local service, pleasant beer garden with wild rabbits and some interesting ales. Nice to sample a couple of beers from Goacher I have never found anywhere else. Did not try the food, but it looks good. On the way out we found the real road back to Faversham.“

“A classic pub within the Sheperd neame family. Basically a few Sheperd neame beers including 3 cask in good condition. Friendly service, good food and a very nice beer garden. As they also offer accommodation I guess this might be one of the best places to stay in town.“

“Free house, probably one of the two best pubs in Faversham regarding beer selection (the other one is The Old Wine Vaults). About 12 taps, five of them are real ale and one cider plus some regular taps. Bottle beers include some microbreweries. Nice location, nice beer garden, friendly staff, live music and quizzes are held occasionally and a beer festival twice a year. No food, but you may very well bring your own to enjoy in the garden. Highly recommended.“

“A free house, probably one of the two best pubs in Faversham regarding beer selection (the other one is Elephant Inn). About 10 taps, four of them where real ale and one cider plus some regular taps. Quite big pub, occasionally live music and I were lucky to hit the annual St. Arnolds beer festival. A popular cask festival with 15 extra beers this year and they told me they would probably expand next year with some Belgium ales as well. Food is decent and the price level for booth food and drinks are moderate. Highly recommended.“

“Another Shepherd Neame pub in Faversham. Four cask, one cider and some regular lagers on tap. Big beer garden, two pool tables and two darts boards. Regular live music and major sporting events are shown on TVs. Nothing really outstanding in beer selection compared with the other Shepherd Neame pubs but it has some charm.“

“One of the few pubs that’s not associated with Shepherd Neame in Faversham. About 10 taps, four of them are cask and one cider. Did not try the food, but it seems to be decent pub food served here. Nice and friendly staff, interesting building, nice beer garden. There are a few organized events going on here, such as boat trips and monthly beer tasting, so check the calendar. Dogs allowed inside the pub.“

“Historically interesting brewery. Naturally rather old-fashioned in philosophy, but they stands out pretty sympatric with a big engagement for the local society, everything from using local ingredients to supporting local sport clubs etc. The brewery tour reflects this and if you know a little about beer and brewing you wouldn’t learn anything new but focusing on the historically part and let committed workers talk about their brewery it could be well worth spending a few hours.“

“Brewery which offers its range wide across the country. It is quite easy to find in Faversham as it is located very central. There is also a little shop around the corner of the brewery where you can buy almost all of the breweries own bottled beer as well as quite a lot of glasses/pints, collectibles and more. Prices are around average.“

“Nice little shop which looks like a small food hall. Nice atmosphere with some slight old-school touch. Special beers available, not that much of mainstream stuff. Prices are above average. Won’t buy Shepherd Neame beers there, therefore I would rather go to the breweries own bottle shop around the corner of the brewery.“

“Went there on a Sunday afternoon, rather surprised that we were the the only ones on there. Clean tidy place but could do with some refurbishment in the pub. Only drank Spitfire, did not think it was good as it should have been, especially as the brewery is 300 metres away, and all the CAMRA stickers saying we have been in the GBG for the last 6 years.“

“By road, foot or boat this is one of the best pubs in kent. But if you do go by boat when the tide goes out, it goes out a long way!!! Good beer served by gravity and ofen real cider too. All in excellent condition.“

“A classic town centre pub with a good mix of history, architecture, decent beer (if you like Shepherd neame, which you pretty much have to if you’re in Faversham) and a lively, mixed clientele. Plus it now does good accomodation and is the best place to stay in Faversham as there are no longer any proper hotels in town. On a trivial note, the landlord is Richard Coughlan the drummer for Caravan and various other bands in the "Canterbury Scene" years ago. Faversham, indcidentally, is a good place for a weekend break.“

“Don’t listen to SilkTork! The best way to get to this pub is by walking across the marshes and back the other way into Oare. Faversham is an interesting place to spend a weekend. We found that, after taking a leisurely Sunday breakfast and and a walk out through the marshes, we arrived bang on midday, just as the pub was opening. I’m a sucker for these isolated, out of the way pubs and I love this place. And the beer ain’t bad.“

“I have visited the sun inn this year in may. The weather was great so we used the very nice garden at the back off the pub. My ploughmans lunch was great. De beers were also from good quality. The manager was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Overall a very nice pub!“

“This is a Freehouse which mostly specialises in beers from Kent micro-breweries. The beers are all from gravity casks as the pub has no cellar. It's tricky to find the right road, but once you've found it it's easy - the road only leads to this pub. It's a tatty pub in a bleak and isolated spot with only a scruffy boatbuilder sharing the yard, but that's half of the charm. That, and the excellent condition of the gravity cask ales.“

“A Shepherd Neame pub in the brewery's home town. The building dates from the last year of Richard the Lionheart's crusades, and is known to have been an Inn since 1608. There is a list of landlords since that time on the wall inside. The best room is up three steps on your right hand side as you enter. This has a huge fire place. It is a great place to sit and relax, have a long conversation, or play a game or two of chess (bring your own board). Accommodation is available.“
