“Tons of parking. Huge place, nice patio, sort of a covered deck. Huge empty bar inside and lots of restaurant tables. Beers were uninteresting, all tasted the same. Food was OK but I had a stomach ache for the rest of the day.“

“Visited randomly with some friends while passing through, late February, 2019. Interesting place... smells like a hippy grocery store, but it's sort of a coffee shop, beer/wine store, and bar... as in you can grab singles to drink or grab a glass of wine, etc. Interesting place and I was able to find plenty I hadn't had to drink on site and to take home, so I was happy. Probably not a place I'll seek out, but was glad to stop in.“

“Barrique's is tucked away in an office park just off one of Fitchburg's main drags about a mile from Steve's Wine and Hyvee. Inside it is part coffee shop, part liquor store, and part bar. Typically you'll find some unexpected items on the shelf though the prices are a little higher than down the road. Of the several locations I've visited it seems most comparable to the one in Middleton. If you are hunting for beers in the area it is worth stopping in after Steve's (both Junction Road and Fitchburg) and Hyvee.“

“Big and bright store. Beer to the right, nearly all of it chilled. Most of the bombers in the walk-in cooler. Good amount of small format coolers. Good selection, less common stuff. Decent cider and mead selection. Prices are a touch bit on the high side but not unreasonable. Shopkeeper friendly. Plenty of parking. In a shopping center and near a Hy-vee so maybe you can really stock up on ticks easily.“

“Ambience as others have described. Beers, available in flights, are mostly good, not great. Service was spot on. Value is notable.“

“First visit, today. I’ve driven past this place half a dozen times and never remembered the name of it - just knew there was a fancy-looking gourmet shop in the area, and today I had a few minutes to check it out. Basically a gourmet drink shop - coffee, tea, beer, wine, whisky, etc - with the emphasis on wine and coffee. I didn’t check it out all that closely, but I saw at least 50 ciders and meads in a cooler, and 100+ beers, lots of interesting Belgians and less-common local stuff included. 3 Duponts including one I haven’t seen around here, Lindemans Faro (also have not seen), several O’So 750ml sours. Prices seemed more reasonable than I would have expected given the upscale nature of the place. Not huge, beer-wise, but well selected. I’ll be back or check out some of the other locations before long I’m sure.“

“Located on the far right of the store, down a crosswalk. Selection was pretty good, a ton of Wisconsin locals. The make you own sixer section had two cooler doors, good variety. Bombers were lacking, but the sixers/twelve packs made up for it. Pretty good overall.“

“Open since April 2014, Flying Hound Alehouse/Pub (their online sites can’t seem to agree on whether the name is alehouse or pub) brings a nice beer variety to a Super Target parking lot. We visited in the middle of a Saturday afternoon and had a very helpful waitress bring multiple sample glasses to the table (no beer flights served). Tap list was 40% European with the remainder mostly Midwestern (seven were from seven Wisconsin breweries) and a few from the coasts. Excellent variety of whiskeys were presented on their own menu with prices included. Nice variety of sandwiches and salads on the menu and all dining selections met the approval of our group of six. Would definitely visit again when in area.“

“On main drag in midst of strip mall. Back side for entrance was way easier than front. Inside big and dark as the other Great Danes are, although there is also a nice beer garden. Their taps are a range of their brews - none of which have ever impressed, but still a range of styles. Food was good. Terrific smoothie shop downstairs.“

“Solid store, well spread out with a large walk-in cooler of craft stuff. Just a bit south of the Beltline and about a block west of 18 in commercial area. Different mix of breweries than the Milwaukee area has.“

“I’m a regular; caveat. It’s the most expansive of the Steve’s locations in Madison, with a great, picturesque wine and liquor selection, and a good, if workmanlike beer display. Always up-to-the-minute locals, along with some sweet imports. Andrew, the buyer, is very forthcoming, and will talk shop with you for a while. Great local stop.“

“This is my favorite Barriques location. They have a pretty good beer selection, and prices are at least average (given that wine and coffee are their first priority). Always have 3 nice taps that are hard to find elsewhere.“

“Located adjacent to several other businesses, including Jimmy John’s. Cases, six packs and some bombers are located first thing on the right, along with the rest of the beer in the cooler right behind. Singles section was decent to good and there were quite a few six-packs from several Wisconsin-only breweries. Pretty good bottle shop.“

“This is often our go to place for a quick meal and a solid drink. The food is great and expanding. It has a good local bar feel and is a great place to watch a Packers game. The standard beers are on average pretty good. The Scotch and the Pilsner stand out. They also have a frequently changing offering of 4 or more specials which can be surprisingly good. The food is good, beer is good. I am always up for eating at the Dane.“

“I first visited the Fitchburg location in 2011. I liked the atmosphere, but the service was very slow. Amazing beer though, so I won’t complain.“

“Great atmosphere, very nice with the 2 story storage tanks visible. Geat helpful staff. Excellent with the up-to 12 4 oz sample platter to get a nice selection of their tap beers. Very good food.“

“The service was decent. The selection was mediocre. The food was decent, as well. I can’t say much about this place. It was a very popular place, given the area. Not hard to get to from Verona, but it is certainly located in a odd part of town. Wait....what the fuck am I talking about; I don’t live here! The Fitchburg location is not the location pictured. Imagine a newly built strip mall, that isn’t exactly a strip, but intermingled buildings that give the impression of a strip mall. The place is adjacent to fairly large apartment complex. Lots of wood paneling, and some brewing equipment that wasn’t derelict, but it didn’t look very active. Overall, it was akin to Twain’s in Atlanta, Pike Place Pub in Seattle. It’s not exactly like the aforementioned areas, but that’s as close of a comparison as I can get. It’s a great place to rub elbows with locals, but the locals know if you’re a local, so you might be met with some implicit hostility. Not saying the locals were mean, but I was expecting more of a "local" feel. Ambiance is pedestrian. Try it out once, and I think you’ll be over it. Sheboygan.“

“Very friendly service. Food was served quickly and was very good. Beer sampler selection was great. Atmosphere was a bit yuppie for my taste... too many vodka mixers and martinis being ordered...also the odd looks due to my biker gear. Did not like the cooking staff taking up bar space while eating their lunch. Good to see they are eating their own food, but this did not seem professional. They should reserve a place for workers to eat away from the bar.“

“Nice atmosphere for the two level brew pub. The food I had was spectacular. A burger with a brat patty and bacon with sharp cheddar on a Bavarian pretzel bun… very good. The wait staff was friendly and informative and helped me fill up my 10 flight sampler. While none of the beers were out of this world, most weren’t bad. I would return here for the food alone and could find a beer or two on the menu to enjoy. The lone knock would be the lack of styles amongst the 11 beers… two pale ales, two pilseners, and a pale lager made up about half of the available choices.“

“A large selection of food that is very good. Service is rather good, been only bitten a few times but a random screw up. Beers are average to above average, but good enough to share with some buddies or co-workers. Work Happy Hours are always great. It is now non-smoking, which I like but I’m not a fan of such laws. It’s a large open place that seats a lot of people, so it can get a little loud.“

“This Dane was conveniently located near a client of mine, so I spent some time there. I found the facility warm and welcoming, with TVs available around the bar that were helpful for watching some B-Ball. This location has Dane beers, a few of which differed from the downtown selections, but it looks like downtown gets more of an allotment of specialty stuff. The food was on par with the other locations (great!), and the service was very good. I’d prefer downtown over this location, but this was still great!“

“Big brewpub/restaurant. As mentioned in previous ratings, it’s located in a strip mall. Not much karma, but then, who cares as long as the beer is good...and as at the downtown location, the beer is pretty good. I visited on a Wednesday afternoon, so it wasn’t crowded. The bartender was very attentive and gave me a few free samples. I visited the downtown location on the same day and their lineups are a little different. I didn’t eat here, but it looked the the menu was pretty similar to downtown, so I suspect it’s decent.“

“It’s in a strip mall, and it looks pretty corporate and soulless, with the exception of the excellent horseshoe bar in the center -- that alone gives it a little character. The food is the same combination of pretty well done pub favorites, a few Wisconsin spins on same, and a fair amount of veggie-healthy stuff. Alas the beer list was weaker than I’ve ever seen at the downtown location, only one new one for me and that a pretty dang mediocre nitro stout. Oh well. Certainly worth a stop if you’ve never been to the downtown one -- but if you haven’t, why not go there?“

“This place is pretty nice regarding the quality of their beer and the building itself. However, it lacks some character in my opinion, it’s almost borderline franchise for me. Service and food were good and since my brother lives in the area I’m sure I’ll be back. However, I prefer my Titletown for the crowd, atmosphere, and food.“

“After several visits to the downtown location, I finally made it over to Fitchburg. AMBIANCE: Certainly more upscale than downtown. We were there for lunch, and about 1/3 of the people seated near us were wearing ties. It lacks the feel of the place downtown, but they layout is better and it certainly seems to be better maintained. (You won’t find food on the floor like downtown.) SERVICE: Considerably better than downtown as well. SELECTION: Fair. Black Earth was on tap, which was solid. The others were fine. But five 4 oz samples for 6 bucks is a nice deal. They have other sampler platters as well. FOOD: Same as downtown. Solid menu. The applewood smoked bacon adds a nice touch to the sandwiches.“

“Following up the downtown location is tall order. This place is completely different than Doty, but it’s outstanding in its own right. Upscale maple interior. Has an outdoor patio with adjoining bar and a wrap around deck that is covered in removable canvas. There is also an upstairs section with its own bar. Well worth a visit to West madison. The year-round beer selection was identical to Doty but their seasonal/specialty brew selection was smaller. There was one unique brew not available downtown: ESB.“

“Lacks the same sort of atmosphere as the downtown location, probably because it is located in the middle of a strip mall. Once you go inside, it still feels like a brewpub. The food is above average - you can’t go wrong with most things on the menu. Beerwise, selection might be a little more limited than downtown but expect to find at least 8 beers on tap. Overall, if you are in the area, stop by. However, if it comes down to a decision, go downtown.“

“I wasn’t as big of a fan of this location as the other. Although, they did have the "barleyport" there when I was there. Try to go during an afternoon... 3pm or so to avoid a crowd.“

“well well, i visited the fitchburg location-large brewpub in the suburbs of Madison filled with yuppies on their lunch break. Well, the place was smoke free so i sat at the bar and ordered a 6 beer sampler and a buffalo chicken sandwich. The beer was hit/miss, but the service kicked ass!“
