70 /100 FORREST - APOLLO BAY ROAD
“Visited on 12th April 2016. Drove up on the way back to Melbourne from the Great Ocean Rd. Picked an unmetalled road which tested out the suspension on the hire car. It’s a lovely building, quite dark though with plenty of seating and a large bar area with a welcoming array of cakes on display plus giant pickled onions. Brewery is out the back and we had a quick look and a photo. Staff were friendly and we had a sampling tray of all the 8 beers available including a new seasonal. Beers were decent enough. Food was excellent, value good and service good. It’s worth the trek out for the venue and setting and to try the beers. Liked it.“

“Visited on August 2, 2013.
My mate drove there, almost missed it driving via the GPS, but saw the house marked brewery and stopped.
4 taps and a couple of bottles available. The guy at the bar happily served us all three samples of all draught beers as well as opened two bottles for us to sample, for free!
Got a free tour of the brewery from one of the brewers as well, I love this place!
Small charming brew set up. Bought one draught beer there plus a bottle to go.
My mates ate and seemed to enjoy it, I didn’t eat here. A few seats available inside, some by the bar. Some seats outside too, but weather wasn’t kind this day.
No problem buying bottles to go.
Very nice service, nice place, if you’re remotely close, swing by this place, it is worth it!“

“It’s not hard to be top dog in a town of 170 but this place would trump most establishments across country Vic. Part of a new breed of brew pubs (Bullant another good example) where equal emphasis is placed on atmosphere, food and service, in addition to the beers. As noted else the beers are more dependable rather than good but throw in the surrounds and good value tucker and this place works well. Attracts the MTB crowd given the proximity to the Forrest single track and this bunch are in the main pro craft so there’s always an enthusiastic crown. Coffee very good on my 2 visits.“

“I liked this place. Seemed like it was full of locals, though seeing as it was a long weekend it probably wasn’t. But it was buzzing anyway. Plenty of folks drinking beer at lunchtime, which is good to see. It’s primarily a local hub-type cafe which happens to have a brewery attached, you’d have to think the business would be fine without the brewery. Anyway there’s plenty of food, which is good-not-great, local wines and three beers on tap - one of theirs and two other Vic micros, which seem to rotate. And the beer was very tasty. Coffee didn’t look good at all. Well worth a stop, perhaps not a trip especially though.“
