60 /100 Dog House Hotel (Bar) FARINGDON RD, FRILFORD This pub is undergoing a reburbishment. It has well kept beer, but as a tied house a limited selection. Food is hearty and non-pretentious. Nice garden. |
64 /100 Millets Farm Shop (Beer Store) MILLETS FARM CENTRE, KINGSTON ROAD Have visited here regularly over a number of years. It is well situated close to the A34, also A420 Oxford - Swindon road and also almost adjacent to the main route from Oxford - Wantage. Beer choice focuses on local beers, you’ll find Shotover, Butts and Stroud amongst a decent selection on offer, cider choice also good and continuing to expand. |
60 /100 Millets Farm Shop (Beer Store) MILLETS FARM CENTRE, KINGSTON ROAD Although attached to a working farm, this place is on a pretty large scale. Nice produce and, as stated previously, a useful stock of bottled beers, mainly from local-ish breweries. |
66 /100 Millets Farm Shop (Beer Store) MILLETS FARM CENTRE, KINGSTON ROAD On a massive site which also features a free mini farm park and playground (to keep the kids happy), a craft shop, garden centre, pick-your-own fruit, restaurant & cafe (to keep the missus happy). The farm shop itself is one of the biggest I’ve seen with excellent quality fresh produce - worth a trip in itself. But I was truly impressed with the farm shop’s stock of local real ale - about 70-80 bottles from at least a dozen breweries, most of which I’d never seen in shops before and including (from memory) Appleford, Best Mates, Butts, Cotswold, Wickwar, Three Castles, West Berkshire, Archers and Arkells. Prices are reasonable for this sort of place (£2.25 per bottle). The staff and friendly and pleasant but know little about beer, but the whole place is a worthwhile trip for any real ale enthusiast with a family who likes to track down unusual local brews. |
