56 /100 Globe Inn (Bar) HILLSIDE, Traditional looking pub right up against the main road, although once inside there's quite a modern feel about its decor, akin to maybe a hotel lounge. Food is served and the bar stocks a number of local cask ales. There's a large car park at its side and rear with a number of outdoor seats on different levels of the rising rear garden area, which offer up respite from the fairly busy street in front. |
66 /100 Globe Inn (Bar) HILLSIDE, Visited for lunch on Wednesday 27/04/16.
Located a few miles west of Kingsbridge, the Globe Inn is located on the road as you head out to the coast. There were only 4 other drinkers during our late lunch stop but I imagine this place could be booming in peak season. One large room, containing the bar, with a raised area to the right and one other room at the front with a pool table. Service was prompt and friendly and the food, seafood pancakes and smoked mackerel with black pudding was very tasty.
At the business end 4 cask lines dispense 3 ever presents, Skinners - Betty Stogs, Otter - Ale and Eddystone from the local South Hams brewery. The two I tried were in great nick. They also had Otter’s pilsener - Tarka, on keg. The fourth cask line is for a guest but I was informed this is usually only on in the peak summer months.
Not a go too destination but solid pub food and the chance to try a beer on cask from the local South Hams brewery. They also offer accomodation at the Globe. |
