64 /100 Ze Pickle (Bar) CONNOR ST, BURLEIGH HEADS Reviewing with my craft beer ’googles on’ and only visited for a beer on this occasion (will follow-up with a meal). I can’t imagine GC would have any craft options as good as this - 10 taps of very credible beer - although you do need to pay up ($10 - $12 a pint). Staff very attentive and comes with more than a touch of glam. Maintains a touch of neighbourhood bar ex the rap music with is not really necessary. p.s review below looks like spam. Update Oct 2017 - Appears to still be one of few GC venues properly devoted to real craft. 13-odd taps with a bias towards NSW and QLD brewers (bravo) so really very local. A bar for cool cats perhaps so won't be completely comfortable for the geek crowd. Fully / over-priced at $12 - $13 a pour albeit must be close to 400ml serves. Decent friendly service. Didn't eat but burgers look good, albeit pricey as others have noted. |
68 /100 Black Hops Brewing (Bar) 15 GARDENIA GROVE, BURLEIGH HEADS QLD I guess this is what the cool 'inner city' start up brew pub scene looks like. No sarcasm intended and indeed pretty unique for Burleigh Heads. Small warehouse works well although will feel kinda full at 25+ punters. Plenty of energy and noise for a Sunday arvo. 400ml pours b/w $8.50 and $9.50....very fair pricing particularly when comparing to the $12 - $13 pours at Ze Pickle Growlers 2L fills around $20....again very fair
8 taps plus food truck. Hard not to like. Looks like the business plan might be to really extract all potential sales on site...good move. Tap line is not beer geek crazy but rather very rational in a 'how do I not go broke' context...kudos. |
68 /100 Black Hops Brewing (Bar) 15 GARDENIA GROVE, BURLEIGH HEADS QLD Good little place. Straight forward taproom with a black motif (obviously). Decent, well made beers. Brewery out back. Will let you sample before buying. Cans and growlers/squealers to go. Hard to believe this has not been entered on Ratebeer yet, but showing how far this site has slipped. |
68 /100 Surfers Sandbar (Restaurant) 52 THE ESPLANADE, SURFERS PARADISE Nice bar right across from the beach in Surfers. Quite a few local beers on tap. Food was OK, staff friendly although not really beer savvy. My main gripe is the 'American' style service model. Wait at the door to be seated, get taken to a table, given a menu and left to choose. I like to sit at the bar and peruse the taps but that's not possible here. So one staff member showed us to the table, another took our order (2 pints) and a third brought them to us 15 minutes later! Nice place, don't go in for a quick pint! |
92 /100 Surfers Sandbar (Restaurant) 52 THE ESPLANADE, SURFERS PARADISE My fave place in Surfers and one of the best craft beer places in Australia. Great range of local and import craft. Good service and food is fine |
70 /100 2 ERN HARLEY DRIVE, BURLEIGH HEADS Really nicely set up place off the beaten path that is worth stopping at if you have a car and get squeeze inside their narrow hours. You can do a flight of 6 for $15, a very good deal for the country. Service is super friendly and accommodating for tickers. Beer itself is mostly forgettable except for their Figjam IPA and their dark coffee lager. Worth popping into if you can. |
70 /100 Lester & Earl (Bar) 1097 GOLD COAST HIGHWAY, PALM BEACH A very cool and popular restaurant/bar with a decent range of beers on tap including both local and international beers. Great food and well worth a look. |
90 /100 Institution Ale House (Bar) 1/3113 SURFERS PARADISE BOULEVARD, SURFERS PARADISE Funky new bar right next to Cavill Avenue tram stop. Up some escalators. These guys have great taste in beer AND music (think 21st century alternative). Lots of REAL local craft beers which change frequently. I visited twice in one day and the food looked good (small menu/ gastro pub vibe) but I didn’t eat. My wife had a cocktail in the evening and loved it. You can sit on the verandah and watch the madding crowd pass by. Nice place. |
92 /100 Surfers Sandbar (Restaurant) 52 THE ESPLANADE, SURFERS PARADISE This place is great. Awesome views of the beach and ocean. it has a great selection of different beers from around Australia and even local suppliers. The food is great value for money especially around the Gold Coast. All the staff were very helpful and had smile. |
88 /100 Surfers Sandbar (Restaurant) 52 THE ESPLANADE, SURFERS PARADISE Great place right beside the beach. great selection of local craft and Australian craft beer, also stocks all of Burleigh brewing’s limited release ranges as they are released. Staff friendly and helpful and the service is always friendly with a smile. |
60 /100 Beer Wine Spirits [BWS] (All Gold Coast Locations) (Beer Store) GROUND SHOP G0.39, OASIS SHOPPING CENTRE, VICTORIA AVENUE, BROADBEACH. Bws bottleshop. Pretty good selection of australian crafts, couple of usa bottles like ballast point and sierra nevada. Prices aren’t bad. |
96 /100 Black Coffee Lyrics (Restaurant) 3131 SURFERS PARADISE BLVD, SURFERS PARADISE The only place on the Gold Coast which promotes craft beer! Bcl has over 40beers with seasonal beer specials each week. It’s got local beer on tap and rotates kegs weekly. The food is amazing. A lot of interesting share plates. We had the tea pickled pear smoked duck breast with caramelised figs the pork belly and the quail! All sensational and better the paying top dollar at the Hilton! We drank the raging flem, mountain goat fancy pants, temple black IPA! All sensational beers!
This is a must eat/drink destination! |
82 /100 Ze Pickle (Bar) CONNOR ST, BURLEIGH HEADS Finally a craft beer bar on the Gold Coast! Great selection on tap (only, no bottles, so you know it’s fresh). All usual tastes catered for (PAs, IPAs, Belgians, stouts) showcasing some of the best Aus has to offer. Staff know their stuff and can point you in the right direction.
Gourmet burgers and bar snacks (must try the sweet potato chips). Industrial decor, top location. |
74 /100 2 ERN HARLEY DRIVE, BURLEIGH HEADS The brewery is far from public transport, but they do have a bar attached to it and some fund bbq events in the parking lot. Their range is limited, but they have some decent beers. |
