72 /100 315-25 TAMACHI NAKA-KU HAMAMATSU-SHI Small, modern place about 10 minutes' walk from the station. The brew house is in the back. 4-5 of their beers on tap out of ten, the rest were imports. Tasting set of 4 for ¥1500 plus tax. 3 of the 4 beers were very good. Staff was a bit standoffish at first then friendly. Feel is a bit hipster. BBQ smelled and looked great but I had just eaten a steak somewhere else. Worth a stop if you are around. |
64 /100 3-8-1 CHUO, NAKA-KU This place was quite fun I thought. Service was good and very very fast. Typical Japanese German beer hall if that makes any sense. Reminds me of the Otaru place in Hokkaido. Didn’t think the food was that expensive so maybe they have changed the prices. No the most exciting beers but I enjoyed a couple of them. |
70 /100 Tir Na Nog Hamamatsu (Bar) MARUMAN BLDG., B-1 LEBEL, 329-8 TAMACHI, NAKA-KU It’s like a Baird taproom, but not quite. An Irish name but that’s about it for the Irish thing. Loads of taps of Baird beer at decent prices (cheaper than Baird taprooms actually). Nice counter and a few tables. No cover charge. Liked this place. |
72 /100 Shinnosuke O (Bar) 1-43 KAJIMACHI NAKA-KU Bookshop and beer bar. 7 taps, mostly Japanese craft with a few imports thrown in. Not the cheapest place around but it’s a nice spot and I would definitely go back again. Good fun to browse the books whilst having a beer or two. Seems like they have nice pizzas too, but we didn’t have time. |
42 /100 3-8-1 CHUO, NAKA-KU A German style brewpub in Hamamatsu that looks castlesque hence the name. No tasters which is a shame that would really help out customers. Tge staff couldn’t even recommend or describe tgeir own beers when I said I couldn’t decide between the Helles & the Weizen. I asked for a taste they said no but tgey should have at least then volunteered to tell me about tge beers. No English spoken but they had an English menu. Lunch sets from 840 yen(LO 1:30PM). At 1:15pm the cavernous space is fairly empty. Great looking courtyard though which must rock in the summer. The food is tasty hearty German fare though the lunch portions seemed a tad small but got the job done. Prices 450-300ml, 730-500ml & 2730yen for 2L. they don’t have tasters which is stupid & refuse to give customers a taste when they can’t make up their mind. Big minuses on service there, come in a big group or for lunch be prepared for high prices & no deals. Take away is just in 2000 yen+ growlers. I was gonna try another beer here but think I will go check out Hamamatsu’s other brewery instead. Fast bringing my food, slow on my tea. All beers here are 5%. On the plus side they seem to use appropriate glassware which is nice.

48 /100 3-8-1 CHUO, NAKA-KU The name is very funny. I can’t say that this place ’suckedEper se, but it is not very good. Beer is mediocre at absolute best and food was boring. Quit tacky, but one of the biggest beer places I have seen in Japan. |
70 /100 3-8-1 CHUO, NAKA-KU 14 years later it gets a re-visit and an upgraded score. 6 beers on tap today. Had three and all were light years better than in 2009. Pils was cracking, Schwarz and Lemon Ale both quite good. Obviously this place has had a makeover somewhere down the line. They found someone who can brew. Beers are cheap--less than ¥900 for 500ml. A very pleasant surprise.
Huge German-style beer hall near Hamamatsu station. Looks nice. 4 regular beers plus a seasonal, all very sub-par, with no tasting sets and no special deals. Prices on beer so-so, food ridiculously expensive, though it looked nice with some authentic German fare. Wanted to like this place, but it sucked. (old score: 1.8) |
