68 /100 Canal’s - Hamilton (Beer Store) 108 MARKETPLACE BLVD This place is an enigma. It could be so much better than it is. They have an extensive craft beer selection including many choices from local breweries. The rub is that that offer only a handful of singles, many of which are readily available everywhere. Warehouse ambience with good selection, but overall average at best. |
84 /100 Hamilton Tap & Grill (Restaurant) 537-557 US-130 Good craft beer haven featuring 24 taps and a bevy of local brewery cans and bottles. Tap beer list usually includes lots of local breweries from New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania along with a few global mega brewers. Extensive food menu includes entrees, burgers, sandwiches, appetizers and desserts. Attentive servers and bartenders make this a pleasant drinking and dining experience. |
78 /100 Hamilton Super Buy-Rite (Beer Store) 661 ROUTE 33 Good mix of local, regional and nation craft beer choices. Heavy on choices from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and New York. Solid selection of single cans and bottles. Growler bar offers twelve choices, almost all are from local brewers or quality regional breweries. Prices are reasonable for area. Service is good with staff possessing good knowledge of beer choices. |
74 /100 Blend Bar & Bistro (Bar) 911 HIGHWAY 33 From a beer perspective, this is a pretty good bet for craft beer fans. Of their twenty taps, about 6 to 7 are local brewers and the rest are split between the global mega brewers (Bud, Miller, Guinness, etc.) and smaller regional brewers (Yuengling, Southern Tier & Goose Island). Food is slightly above average with choices like pizza, wings and burgers/sandwiches. Service is usually good with some staff having knowledge of their beer choices. |
78 /100 UNO Chicago Grill - Hamilton (Restaurant) 225 SLOAN AVE Their draft beer list is usually stellar with many local brews as well as unique Belgians and larger craft breweries across the country. Decent bottle and can selection as well. Constantly getting in new selections and regularly sponsor tap takeovers. The food is above average and the Deep Dish Pizza is quite good. If your a craft beer lover, you will definitely enjoy it here. |
100 /100 UNO Chicago Grill - Hamilton (Restaurant) 225 SLOAN AVE Best bar of my life! Try the canneloni and the vegan-Chicken wings! |
90 /100 Hamilton Super Buy Rite (Beer Store) 661 ROUTE 33 Solid beer store in Hamilton. Easy parking. Good selection. |
82 /100 Jo Jo’s Tavern (Restaurant) 2677 NOTTINGHAM WAY Great neighborhood tavern since 1962 that serves up great pizza, entrees and sandwiches. They have really stepped up the beer selection and have about 20 taps. You will find the standard macro brews like Bud, Miller and Coors along with a decent selection of the larger crafts like New Belgium, Sam Adams, Brooklyn, etc. Also a handful of local and regional craft brews are readily available. Very nice selection of Craft bottles and cans as well. Always busy, especially on weekends. Go for the pizza and compliment with a nice brew. You won’t be disappointed. |
76 /100 Hamilton Super Buy Rite (Beer Store) 661 ROUTE 33 This used to be Angeloni’s Cedar Gardens Liquors. New owners took over about 6 months ago. Totally renovated and now offering a much larger beer selection, including singles and growler fills. Service is usually pretty good, though inconsistent at times. Lots of craft beer and imports to choose from. Growler Station has 12 taps, with most dedicated to local and regional craft breweries. Bottle and can selection is quite extensive. They carry the usual macros (Bud, Miller, Coors) as well as many of the large craft breweries (Sam Adams, New Belgium, Stone, etc...) Lots o 6 packs and decent singles selections. Starting to carry some local small craft brewery selections now, as well. If you are a craft beer fan, this place is definitely worth checking out. |
74 /100 Blend Bar & Bistro (Bar) 911 HIGHWAY 33 Food was pretty good, but standard. Nice selection of local beers. Flights available. |
78 /100 Hamilton Super Buy-Rite (Beer Store) 661 ROUTE 33 Nice store offering singles of most bottles. Good selection and service. |
80 /100 UNO Chicago Grill - Hamilton (Restaurant) 225 SLOAN AVE Food was better than other Uno’s. Nice beer selection available on beermenus. Plus flights. |
78 /100 Blend Bar & Bistro (Bar) 911 HIGHWAY 33 Food I’m not going to rate here, but drafts are good, and service is pretty good. Bottle selection can have some cool locals that last longer than at most stores. |
82 /100 UNO Chicago Grill - Hamilton (Restaurant) 225 SLOAN AVE I don’t really enjoy the food, but the draft list is usually good or better, and the prices are not bad. Bar staff is adequate if you know what you want. Definitely try to go for the events as they are what makes this place worth a longer trip. |
76 /100 Rossi’s Bar & Grill (Restaurant) 2110 WHITEHORSE-MERCERVILLE ROAD Go for the food, especially the burgers! Lot’s of TV’s in Bar area. Spacious seating, but always packed on weekends. Decent craft selection with about 8 or so out of 16 on tap. Good bottle selection as well. Did I mention to try the Burgers? |
68 /100 Canal’s - Hamilton (Beer Store) 108 MARKETPLACE BLVD I thought the Canal’s in Lawrenceville was superior. Decent selection of common craft stuff in 6-packs, but not many singles other than bombers. Prices are good. |
70 /100 Blend Bar & Bistro (Bar) 911 HIGHWAY 33 Stopped in to check this place out as they are touted as a "beer bar" in the area. 12 taps but nothing too fancy; mostly stuff you can find anywhere in the area. 2-3 locals which is nice.
Restaurant/bar area is clean and looks like a hybrid sports bar/lounge. I’m sure it gets quite busy but was empty when I went on a Sunday afternoon.
They sell wine and have 4 refrigerated coolers with various (widely-available) six packs. A few singles...and I give them credit for having Dogfish Worldwide Stout. However, it’s not worth the $17 they were charging. Other prices seemed quite reasonable.
Staff was friendly. It would be a nice place to grab a drink. Just don’t go expecting the latest and greatest craft releases. |
70 /100 Bill’s Olde Tavern (Restaurant) 2694 NOTTINGHAM WAY A decent spot in western NJ. The beer list does not change often but there are usually a few decent ones to choose from. The food is above average. They cook most of their food from scratch and it shows.
Bar area can get pretty loud but in general it’s a nice spot. Not a "beer destination" but they have continued to build their craft selection. |
24 /100 Hamilton Super Buy Rite (Beer Store) 661 ROUTE 33 Only rating this from a craft selection. They had a fairly big wine and spirit selection.
The place was massive and did not appear to be heated during our recent, chilly visit. The craft beer is centered on one shelf and adds up to maybe 25-30 different bottles. Not great....
Compounded by the fact that one of the works stood about 10’ away and stared at my girlfriend and I without offering to help...or stop staring. |
88 /100 UNO Chicago Grill - Hamilton (Restaurant) 225 SLOAN AVE Standard chain restaurant with a surprisingly good beer selection. Frequent "tap takeovers" from local breweries as well as beer dinners. Go in for a flight and stay for the bartenders. They know what they are doing in there. |
86 /100 Canal’s - Hamilton (Beer Store) 108 MARKETPLACE BLVD Good selection of bottles - plenty in the cooler, too. Better than average Dogfish selection if you’re interested in that brewery. Nothing else notable, but plenty to choose from! |
66 /100 Canal’s - Hamilton (Beer Store) 108 MARKETPLACE BLVD Makes total wine look like the taj mahal. You never get great service at these types of places but the person at the checkout counter seemed genuinely bummed when I didn’t join their craft beer club. They stack a lot of BMC high and deep but they also have a solid selection of Belgian and American regional craft though I do wish they had more local stuff. They don’t have any lind of pick 6 display so we can’t give too high a score It’s not a beer geek destination but if this is your local you could do much worse. |
72 /100 UNO Chicago Grill - Hamilton (Restaurant) 225 SLOAN AVE I’ve been to several Uno’s in various state’s as I love the Chicago deep-dish pizza here, but I’ve never encountered one with the Belgian/craft beer selection of this one. They have 10 taps of craft beers and a good selection of Belgian and craft beer bottles. |
74 /100 Canal’s - Hamilton (Beer Store) 108 MARKETPLACE BLVD It’s a warehouse-style liquor store, so there is a variety of what beverages are there. Not a whole lot, but a good amount of obscure beers are sold. Extensive wine and liquor selection as well. A good stop if you’re in need of a good 12 pack. |
66 /100 Canal’s - Hamilton (Beer Store) 108 MARKETPLACE BLVD Don’t waste your time with Joe CAnals. Some common craft brews. I do love the fact that they carried Lion’s Head, a micro from Northeast Penn. that I drank way too often at the U of Scranton. But that nostalgia aside. This is not a "beer geek" stop. |
56 /100 Hamilton Super Buy Rite (Beer Store) 661 ROUTE 33 A very good spot to pick up what you need. They carry beer, wine and hard alcohol. Very good prices, standard liquor store setup, easy to shop. As far as beer goes, they carry all the major macros, standard imports, and are constantly rotating a smaller sized selection of micros and the more interesting imports. Very good selection of wines from around the world and hard stuff to go with it. |
16 /100 Canal’s - Hamilton (Beer Store) 108 MARKETPLACE BLVD I probably shouldn’t have visitied this place after shopping at Oak Tree Buy Rite in South Plainfield. Relative to The Oak, this place is weak at best From service to selection, Canals is lacking in the speciality beer area. They throw up just enough stuff to claim they’re looking out for us, but a single visit would show otherwise. And to top it off, I had to park far from the store and deal with the traffic. If you are looking for anything more than the basics, not worth the visit. |
52 /100 Canal’s - Hamilton (Beer Store) 108 MARKETPLACE BLVD This is your typical Canal’s liquor store. Its pretty much a warehouse set up where your supposed to help yourself. They have a good selection of common beers, and a decent selection of imports. They have an impressive amount of wine it appears, however a better person would need to discuss that. They have shopping carts which are full size, and you have a chance of finding someone who knows something about selecting an appropriate beer. |
66 /100 Canal’s - Hamilton (Beer Store) 108 MARKETPLACE BLVD I had an location to check out in this development and stopped in for the heck of it. The ambiance is the typical medium sized discount liquor store. No one approached me to ask if I needed help, or greeted me when I came in. However, they do have a decent aisle dedicated to beer. Belgians, Domestics, and European brews. Domestics included Jolly Pumpkin, Stone, Three Floyds, Heavyweight, Dogfish Head, Victory, etc. I doubt this place gets tons of beer geek traffic, because this one the only place that still had Stone 10th when I stopped in. No rarities, but a solid selection. Worth a look if you are in the area, but it does not not touch the selection of the stores further north (Somerville SS and Oak Tree). It did not appear that they broke six packs. |
