“New Rating: Ok stopped there again on another Saturday for a second chance and the barmaid showed up 20 mins late, she arrived with her dog just before I was about to leave; nice eye candy BTW, the dog and the maid. Even tho her service was a 9, I gave this place a 7 because of the late arrival and the no show from my previous visit. Once in the place its simply a one stall garage with some smallish brewing equipment, 4 taps and a cash register. Growler fills only. Very sparse and very haphazard. She said they were going to open an official taproom down the street in the near future. Probably one of the roughest commercially available beer places I've ever been in. What else can be said except that it is unexpectedly quaint and rough around the edges. Old Rating (2 weeks earlier) : Stopped there today for 12 noon Saturday hours but they were closed. Later I found out the owner said the bartender called off, oh well. I'm sure its a decent place. Its located underneath a place called Kim's Dogs in a one car garage around back. Will visit again in the near future.“

“Great service and great beers though no guests limits number. The food is great especially the pick your own meats and cheese but the servings are meager for the price.“

“A nice brewpub just outside of Pittsburgh. Seems to cater to sports - I remember they had specials of half off drafts during Pens games. Standard pub atmosphere though it is a fairly large space. The beers were great, especially one of their IPAs and porter. Their menu is mainly pizza and that was delicious too. A place I'd definitely go back to.“

“First stop on the RBSG16 bus tour on Friday. Smaller system, but 9 things on tap, variety of styles with a few of them being sour as well. Amazing beers. Just amazing. Only thing in contention is whether the beers or their hospitality were better, because that was downright impressive as well. Super friendly staff, people who love what they do and it shows in just about everything. Highly recommended. By far one of the standouts of the trip. “

“Parking on the street, not too bad. Ambiance is nice industrial. Service was good. A couple guest taps and five of their own. Did not have the food. Higher prices. I would go back if they had something special.“

“Visited here in late September ’16 while in the area for business for a nightcap after dinner in downtown Pittsburgh. Great little taproom, nice modern decor. Friendly staff and warming locals. Had about a dozen of their beers on tap in various sizes. I especially liked the 8 oz pours, flights of tasters just don’t do it for me. Reasonably priced as well. Many styles represented, the three I had were solid. They had good things to say about RB - we talked about the event they hosted. Will be back when in the area.“

“Street entrance, down stairs, two turns, then into a room with brewing gear behind glass on one side, a long bar with 5 taps on the other, and a few small tables in-between. Very friendly staff, but the flight was $3 for each 5 oz pour. More beer choices would up the score considerably.“

“Visited on a Friday early with the RBSG group. Private event. The beer on tap was predominantly farmhouse/funky beers. Service was awesome. They had plenty of folks working behind the bar and kept everybody with beer. Flights were available. I really enjoyed the ambiance of the place. It was a cross between modern and old time English pub. Lots of metal, but also a lot of wood and barrels around. They had a covered biergarten as well, that was pretty nice. It went out to an alley behind the place, but there was a privacy fence up to separate them from the alley. They set out a ton of great food for us. Really went above and beyond to accommodate our group. All the food they set out was delicious, and they even gave us enough to take some on the bus to fuel our continued journey to more breweries. This is a top notch place, and worthy of going out of your way to visit.“

“The biggest standouts from this place: high-quality beer, high-quality food, welcoming atmosphere. Beers were clean and really quaffable. The wings with the house sauce (sweet-spicy) were honestly some of the best wings I’ve ever had (meaty, tender, great coating, flavorful without being fatty). Open atmosphere despite the small physical space. Both owners were friendly and engaging with patrons. I wish I lived closer.“

“My favorite stop on the RBSG bus tour. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Amazing food and even better beer. Several places to enjoy a beer as they have a back patio, several tables, and even leather couches up front. Will definitely come back anytime I am in PGH and recommend to anyone.“

“Very quaint but the outside seating area does open things up a bit. The beers were insanely well crafted. super clean and just really drinkable all around. good variety and staff were attentive. I was here with a big group and never had to wait for a pour. Zero d-baggery, humble staff just happy to help and answer questions. I think the most fun part was just being surrounded by good vibes and this place was my favorite. Their food was surprisingly very good. the sandwiches and pizzas were great. I hear they have a huge cheese selection and sampling a few, I’d go back“

“This place rocks. Hometown neighborhood feel. You’re sitting right in the brew house. The service is extremely friendly and the food is delicious. The wings are the best. They also have TVs if you have a sports fix.“

“Private event so review is a bit skewed. Location is great with a nice private outdoor space. Service was fantastic with a family feel and the brewer around to chat. Beers were pretty solid at worst and a free were great. .5 pours were available but I didn’t see anything for flights. Food was good, chickenwings were awesome. Good beer, great people and nice location. Hard to ask for more.“

“We booked a session here with the RateBeer Summer Gathering and they did a terrific job, laying out an incredible spread of food, all very tasty, from the wings to the pizza to the sandwiches. Staff were engaging, knowledgeable and efficient. The place itself starts at basement level and then quickly opens up to a bright bar space that opens via huge overhead doors to a covered alley patio. Beers were very tasty, all available as large or small pours. Fantastic place.“

“Stopped in here on a Friday for RBSG. First time - very impressed. Great space in a neighborhood area. Open patio, with small bar and seating area adjacent to the equipment. Great service, tasty food, and a very nice selection of beers on tap. Look forward to coming back here.“

“2/20/16 Pittsburgh RB Gathering @ Insurrection in Heidelberg. Big thanks to my fellow ratebeerians! This place is a well done cozy little brewpub. Easy street parking then downa few steps to a place where everybody was helpful. Has a somewhat small warehouse attitude about it. Today the 2 garage doors were open because it was 70 in the middle of February. 6 beers on tap and the food was good, especially the kahbossi with the works. They had 6 good beers on tap, my fave was the swordsman and the dark star. They don’t have flights, which was a little disappointing but you could get have drafts for $3 each and free half ounce samples of any beer. You can’t really do a rating on a half ounce so I got 6 half drafts for $18, not too bad, heheh. Lots of brewing equipment greets the eye and the foyer is well done. Good overall beer experience from my point of view. Nice enjoyable entertaining eye candy all round. Lots of brewing equipment and barrels within view.“
