Hops & Apples (Beer Store)

“At last Hemel Hempstead has a craft beer shop. The owners are friendly and happy to take suggestions too. They stock a range of drinks: including traditional style ales (mostly bottled), modern craft beer (mostly in cans), lagers (cans and bottles), ciders, wine, prosecco, and gin. A lot of the beer is local to the wider southeast area and Hertfordshire. Owners are happy to supply crates at request.“

“Friendly micropub with mostly traditional cask ales on handle and gravity, ciders on handle and box, and some lager and others on keg. CAMRA affiliated and supports local and regional craft beer producers.“

“Visited around 5pm on Wednesday 4th June 2014. Place was pretty busy with JDW regular types, the old, infirm and unwashed. From the outside this place looks pretty shitty but inside it’s a bit of a looker! Set in a former bingo hall (hence the name) the Full House puts on a tardis-esque show, appearing much larger than the outside suggests. Lots of curves in an art deco way, you can clearly see the past in terms of the architecture, the bar is at a sunken level at the far wall from where you enter. At the business end there were 3 guest beers on this visit with 2 waiting to come on. Mine was in good nick so can’t complain and the service was fine, although the bar area wasn’t too busy. Ok spoons, not a top draw one as the selection isn’t that great (although probably still the best in Hemel!) but the architecture makes up for this a little.“
