“Eh, selection not horrible but not somewhere to go out of your way to. Think what an OK Whole Foods used to be.“

“Nice clean location, middle of a residential development / small commercial district, nothing super rare, small bottle selection, perfectly fine stop but not worth going out of your way for in Oregon.“

“What a shock. I'm at a kids birthday party at Out of This World Pizza. A sort of big cavernous place with a play area, games, prizes etc. Like a Chuck E Cheese. But..they have a bar with like 30 good beers on tap and it turns out, their own brewery now! Nuts. Had 7 of their own on tap. Did samplers. Really nice for parents to have good beer and let the kids place. Has to be the most kid friendly brewpub in the world. The beer was from good to not good, but it is brand new. I'll revisit.“

“Wow. Brian was right, this place rocks. Huge warehouse type room, the walls lined with about 12 fridges full of beer. 34 great taps. Great service. Good prices. Connected to Main Brew (the homebrew shop). Would be great in Portland, in Hillsboro it is amazing. The food looked great but I didn’t have any. Update: the food is amazing. I go here almost once a week. Great taps, great bottles. Busy.“

“Visited early on a Tuesday night. From the outside, you’d never guess what this place holds. Kind of hard to find (even the GPS didn’t help much), it has only one small little sign set on the sidewalk outside the front door, but the sign is obscured by the parked cars. Once you make it inside though, geez! 34 taps with a wild selection of breweries and styles and a huge variety of bottles in the long rows of coolers -- the staffer told me that they stocked around 900 different bottled beers. We waited only about 10 minutes for a table, though I would guess that it probably takes much longer on weekends. The bar area was rather crowded and it took some time to get served there.Fairly noisy and busy, with lots of loud-talking bros and big family groups. But the service was very efficient. Food was fairly good, too.“

“What a weird location, visible from highway 26 but kind of ridiculous to get to through a business park. But here you go, a pub and kitchen and bottle shop with probably the best selection west of Beaverton, stuck in next to the "Adhesives & Packaging Systems" corporate office. I dig it as a beer store, but to be honest it seems like an uncomfortable place to sit and drink or eat... dimly lit with little outside light, which makes it feel like a casino.“

“Decent selection for a west-side suburban grocery but what they have can be found at any of the other Whole Foods or similar markets. And no Heater Allen which is surprising. Market of Choice off of SW Barnes road is only a couple of miles away and their selection is far more complete.“

“Downtown Hillsboro now has a beer geek bar with 10 coolers of bottles (for here or takeaway) and about 20 taps. They have a good range of local and import stuff, lots of sour beer and IPA, of course, but also a few new and interesting (to me) things like seasonal lager and smoked saison from a new (to me) brewery.“

“Typical selection for a NS market in the Portland area, lots of six packs and bombers with prices below what you find in the specialty shops. They stock some of the newer / unknown (to me) breweries in the area, as well as Heater Allen.“

“Cool laid back place. A few old buildings scattered around that house different events. Grab a beer and go sit in the wooded area on a picnic table or in the cigar bar area. They have a distillery, but didn’t try any but they did have a BA beer that was good. Service was fast and friendly, food was good.“

“Visited on Sunday the 1st of November, again, for the first time for the last time. Or something. Anyway, when the title of the building calls it a hall, it’s an apt deScription. It’s a big longhouse of a building with two stories and a very rustic vibe. There are a few televisions for those of us who want to watch Timbers games, and there’s a lot of service running around and around. Other than the location, however, it’s a standard McMenamins with the standard lineup and moderately good pub fare. I will say, however, this has the type of log cabin feel that works wonders on a mood during a rainy day, however.“

“Headed over here on October 30th. Fantastic place, though I was definitely surprised to find that they had a restaurant inside. There are a few barrels where we stood and the service was fast when it was very, very busy. The tap list was excellent, and they have the same board as Bailey’s which measures the depth of the keg. Hundreds of bottles line the wall for drink there or take home, and I definitely see myself returning to here frequently.“

“Wow, what a find. Large warehouse feels, 34 taps including the usual IPA, wheat shit, plus no less than 5 sours.... On tap. Large cooler section to rip and run. Food menu runs the gamut from tapas to sandwiches. Service was quick. Plenty of table seating. Needs a bigger bar tho.“

“As the previous two ratings have mention its in the middle of some commercial/residential development. Cozy modern atmosphere, open brick, large windows. Most peeps here are using what I am assuming is free wifi. 20 beers on tap, displaced on a large TV screen including how much is left in the keg. A small cooler of bottles are also available. Selection was solid. A few weak offerings but did have upright gose, local IPAs, Russian River bottles, crooked Stave bottles, etc. one downside is no food. If they had it I would tie one off and spend the rest of my night here. Too bad I will have to get another place rake tonight.“

“With 20 fine beers on tap, there’s certainly something here for the beer lover, and the overhead monitors let you know what they have. Attentive bartender. A dozen tables or so inside, with another half dozen outside. High ceilings, modern decor but without much warmth. Sports on the large screens, but thankfully, volume turned down. Prices are inline with other places in the city.“

“Small place. Sorta like a hole in the wall with awesome beer. Had 17 taps or so, 2 from their brewery. The rest were all solid, some from smaller places. Good service. A nice down to earthy crowd. Fun place. I wish they had more of their own beer.“

“A friendly place with 19 taps and a cooler with at least 20 bottles. There were also a few wines and meads on offer. Features mostly beers from the Pacific Northwest, and mostly from Oregon at that. Tonight, they were hosting readings by half a dozen local authors, and the place was packed. It features the bar, a larger room with tables, and a more intimate room with a couch. Outside, a food cart was available for most of the evening. One of the taps featured their own brew, and they plan to offer up to eight in the future. The proprietors were present and friendly to talk to. Located behind and connected to Brew Brothers Homebrew shop.“

“I’m not a brewer yet, but oh, I want to be. The people here at Mainbrew are always helpful with their free samples of sometimes special nights, and always of their 5 beers on tap, always changing. They have a varies selection of refrigerated bottles of all styles around the store, and are willing to help me select something new to try. They’re knowledgeable, helpful, have always answered my questions about brewing, and I just love this place. I’m sure when I finally go to brew my first batch, this is the place I’ll go to for all my supplies. Their pub next door is soon to open with 32 taps and bar food - I’m looking forward to a successful expansion for them (and me).“

“Crazy place. There was a wedding going on that I accidentally joined. Loads of old buildings. Had 10 beers on tap. Decent service, but expect some waiting. Packed. Just people everywhere. Squirrels eating on the top of tables outside. The beer and food were decent. Charming in an insane Portland way. About 7 menus.“

“For I can raise no money by vile means. William Shakespeare I do believe that the quote by Mr. Shakespeare addresses Alex cited Feb 1, 2012 below...since I do believe he is trying to drive business away from the best brew shop on the west side ...and probably to his own that he’s been nursing along...but alas, the teet must be running dry if he’s resorting to negative reviews of Main Brew. I’ve been in Main Brew when it was absolutely FILLED with customers and while I was a beer-making-baby compared to the Maestros of Mead behind the counter, they took the time with ALL my questions. Yes they were busy, but never once did I feel rushed or pushed out of the way for a "larger order to fill". I saw the owner furiously helping WITH his employees; answering questions, filling orders (big and small), and recommending yeasts right and left...All the while treating EVERY customer as though their question was important, regardless of their level of brewing ability. I think the negative review is...well...a cry for attention from a lost non-native... No, I don’t work at Main Brew...“

“Main Brew has a great selection of grain, yeast, equipment, and cold beer ready to drink! However, I went to this establishment to buy ingredients for a 3 gallon batch and was at one point talking to an employee about the diversity of grain and yeast, the conversation got pretty in depth, and we talked a while, roughly 20 minutes. That is until the owner or manager (don’t know which, but my gut says owner) comes over and right in front of us (no discretion at all!) basically says "forget this guy, he is only buying a 3 gallon batch worth of grain and one packet of yeast... so stop talking to him. We got orders to fill" at this point the worker is clearly in trouble, hangs his head low, and gives me the cold shoulder from thereafter whereas prior we were really clicking, he was imparting vast knowledge on me, I was very grateful, and really digging Main Brew. So basically I feel that this place has great selection, great staff... but unfortunately a money hungry, let’s move lots and lots of grain, but disregard community, and disregard the art of the brew type of boss. The soulless feeling of “all that matters is the money” emanating from the owner hit me hard and has been really bothering me for weeks now. I won’t name any of the other brew shops around town but at these other places I have always felt a part of a community that appreciated the art of the brew first and was happy to make money only second. Keep Portland Weird, keep people like the boss man at Main Brew from bastardizing our diverse and vibrant brew community where we look out for each other, converse with one another, learn together, and grow together. I partly came to this city for the beer culture, years ago. It has since grown vastly which is awesome but let us please push back against those who want to rob it of its genuine worth and corporatize our beer!“

“One stop shopping for all things beer, Mead and wine? The nicest and most knowlegable staff in the country. Hard to find beers and Meads, and the best stocked and most well organized homebrew shop in Oregon. 420 plus beers (never warm) massive selection of kegs to go and growler filling...“

“The ambiance at this way out tavern is fun and nostalgic. It’s got a great outdoor patio area as well as a little grassy knoll. There is an upstairs and downstairs restaurant area but I actually went out here to see a band play. The setup to see the band was a little cramped in front of the bar. It was VERY difficult to get to the small bar to get a drink. I also could not see a list of their taps anywhere so I just ordered a standard McMenamins stout. The band was fun with good sound but again, it was a crowded dance-area. Since I could not tell their selection it is hard to rate it and since the bar is so short it was hard to get to it so that is where I docked Rock Creek pts.. It is also a ways out in the country from central Portland which makes it a bit difficult to get to especially for those of us who use public transport.“

“The best homebrew supply and bottle shop on west coast, best, friendliest and most knowledgable staff in the business. 450 plus cold beers in stuck and growing. Over 100 kegs of beers to go. 5 growler taps... Note: mainstreet homebrew supply has moved from downtown hillsboro to 23596 NW Clara Lane, Hillsboro, 97124 btw the "reviewer" Alex is making a complete fabricated "review" and should be removed from this place rating. “

“As with all McMenamins, their beer on tap is their usual selection of about 8. Their seasonal Pumpkin Ale was disappointing, but their pepperoni pizza is some of the best around and a steal during happy hour. Not as many outbuildings or places to walk around and explore as other McMenamins. If staying in the area, McMenamins Roadhouse is a cool place to visit, but not worth it to make a trip there. McMenamin’s in Edgefield is by far better and worth the drive.“

“This is the most disappointing McMenamin’s I have ever been to. The service was crummy, bartender rude and snooty, manager was worthless and didn’t follow through on things he said he would. The White Shed wasn’t opened the hours they were supposed to be and they were jerks about it telling us we were wrong on the hours though we had looked them up online only 8 hours earlier. There were no taps available as the lines were broken so we had to drink flat warm beer from pitchers that they were filled in the back. I will never be back to the restaurant again, unfortunately due to no cigar bars in Portland I have very little choice but to go back to the White Shed. “

“I have been brewing beer for nearly seventeen years and Kevin has taught me everything I know. He takes his time with every customer because he wants to make sure that they make the best beer possible, which is why his store can get crowded on weekends but I find his knowledge is worth the wait. If you can’t wait, visit him during the week and he’ll literally spend the whole day helping you perfect your beer. He has taken special orders from me, located hard to find equipment and has shipped. He truly wants me to make a great beer. His website is also key as everything I have ever needed to know can be found on it. He has a great store and I have found that his operation is key to making great beer. Great place!“

“I enjoy this place a lot... Been there a couple of times for lunch and had some great food. The beer menu is all McMenamins’ own brews, but they have a lot of rotating specials. The environment is very cabin like with a farm/barn like feel. The wall stuff is limited to a nice level and creates a nice personality for the place. The bartender was very nice and pleasant and new a quite a bit about the beers. Oh, and the men’s bathroom is awesome because of the huge contraption that the urinals are hooked up too---If you’re in the westside suburbs of Portland, this place is worth going to.“
