“The smaller of the two options in Holme Chapel, but like the Ram it has a decent enough ale selection to warrant a look. There’s four ale pumps here with local, national and guest ales (including seasonals). There’s a small cosy front area and a larger back room that is equally nice and similarly traditional in style. The building deceives a little as it doesn’t look up to much from the outside blending in with the other houses along the main road, but appearances deceive. There’s no parking restriction on the main road outside.“

Ram (Bar)
399 BURNLEY ROAD
“In a large purpose built building in its own grounds, this pub feels like it’s part of a chain but is beautifully decorated and atmospheric enough that you forget this. Its large ground floor area is a collection of small open spaces with walls and doorways making each part of the pub intimate, with its own character and enjoyable. There is a dominant wood appearance with plenty of beams, doors tables and chairs adding to the slightly older world feel to the place. Food plays a big part in this pubs existence and its extensive car park points to it being a popular place for diners and families as children are admitted. The bar has three real ale pumps and keeps its used clips on the walls to show it regularly rotates. There is a fenced garden area to its rear, and on the other side of the car park a fair number of picnic tables that look out onto fields and the foothills of the Pennines.“
