78 /100 Slijterij bij Marcel, Alteveerstraat (Beer Store) ALTEVEERSTRAAT 6 Interesting collection of beers from various countries. Lot of local brews too. Worth while visiting when in Hoogeveen. I will certainly visit it more often. |
78 /100 FABRIEKSWEG 14 Visit shortly after opening, during open house. Short tour, friendly, beer loving owner and his wife. They both run the brewery. Enjoyed some beers. (9-4-2016). |
88 /100 Dégust (Restaurant) HOOFDSTRAAT 38 Nice place, pretty wide choice of beers. Owners are true beer lovers. Good knowledge of beers. Interesting conversations about beer. Helpfull in making right beer choice with the food. Also one of the organisors of the annual Noordelijk kerst- en winterbierfestival in Hoogeveen. (6-2013). |
64 /100 Dikkers Slijterij (Beer Store) BRINKSTRAAT 22 Gorgeous old store with a focus on wine. Also has a fairly decent beer selection of some Belgian, Dutch and various European craft. Picked up a couple of Scottish brews I was not familiar with. By itself this wine store is not worth a trip to Hoogeveen, but I will stop by when I’m in town to see if they can surprise me again. |
70 /100 Slijterij bij Marcel, Alteveerstraat (Beer Store) ALTEVEERSTRAAT 6 Formerly known as Mitra Hoogeveen.
Friendly Owners.
Collection is mostly Belgian and larger Dutch microbreweries, andone cabinet fully up to stock with more regional breweries.
If your allready in the center worth a visit. |
76 /100 Salsa (Restaurant) HOOFDSTRAAT 161, Salsa, has been for a long time as Tapas restaurant in Hoogeveen I think I rated a Manhou once from there, however a few monhts ago they started also with a vvery small collection of Spannish craft beers. While 3 (actually 4 by surpise) beers is a very small selection and normally would not mean I would put it here..Also there are 2 pilseners from the tap. (1 Spannish and one Dutch).
However all 3 beers were very good.
And It’s supposed to be a changing selection .The food is good. Getting glasses was no problem when bottles were shared. And prices are ok.
For beerlovers with the new but small selection clearly a good option for Diner.

62 /100 Café de Lijst (Bar) HOOFDSTRAAT 34 Moody rock/blues bar practically right next to restaurant Dégust. Beer selection is limited but decent. Urquell on draft and a small bottle selection which includes a couple of local beers. I had two brews by Hoogeveen brewery Jonge Beer here. Owner is friendly and chatty. |
88 /100 Dégust (Restaurant) HOOFDSTRAAT 38 Really nice place. Located at the main road in the centre of Hoogeveen. Food is very good. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. I had a great desert with brownie and creme brulee stout. :-) One of the very, very few excellent beer restaurants in Holland. Must visit. |
80 /100 Dégust (Restaurant) HOOFDSTRAAT 38 Nice restaurant in an otherwise unattractive provincial town. Beer selection is quite great for a restaurant. Lots of local microbreweries are represented. Owners are very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about beer, to the point of geekiness. I definitely enjoyed talking with them about the wonderful world of beer. Will definitely return here and get some food to accompany the brews. |
64 /100 Slijterij bij Marcel, Alteveerstraat (Beer Store) ALTEVEERSTRAAT 6 An above average Mitra in downtown Hoogeveen. A surprising portfolio of Dutch craft beers, next to the usual Mitra beers. A did find some surprises. Not worth a separate trip, but certainly worth a visit if you happen to be near Hoogeveen. |
78 /100 Dégust (Restaurant) HOOFDSTRAAT 38 Been there last week for a meal and a drink (or two). Nice restaurant with a good selection of mostly dutch beers. Food is very nice, with regional products. Staff has knowledge of food beer pairing too!
Besides the tap beers there’s a ridge full of beers you can choose from. |
84 /100 Dégust (Restaurant) HOOFDSTRAAT 38 Can’t belief this wasn’t on RB yet... Located in a provincial town among other restaurants. It is presented as Belgian delicacies restaurant, but it actually focuses (nowadays?)) more on regional specialities and beer. The beer menu is excellent, especially for a small provincial town, with locals, Dutch micros, some trappists and the odd American The Dutch small breweries are very well selected and there’s much more than just a blond and tripel. Numerous IPAs and stouts, even! We had XtrEem Warrior, Punk IPA, Emelisse RIS Wild Turkey Barrel, Archor Humming Ale, Berhoeve Khoppig... (Agreeably only 1 or 2 ticks for me, but I was a bit ’unlucky’ and what’s offered is good.) The food is region-inspired and very tasty. Portions are way bigger than usual in the Netherlands in this kind of restaurant. Daily menu available too. Prices are very much on the high end, even for Dutch standards. But, the beer menu is great, the service very nice and personal, knowledgeable and enthusiastic owner and nice outside area. Recommended! |
