74 /100 Salt Lick (Restaurant) 147 ZHONGSHAN RD. A bar that from the entrance looks as narrow as a sea container but with the purchase of a property next door opens mid way down the galley to a nice beer garden al fresco. The Taiwanese not being the imbibing types, well on the surface at least, this bar offers a surprising selection of big and small scale U.S. craft offerings, as well as a few local brews including the hard to find beers of 886 brewhouse. Food was a strange Taiwanese take on a Texan BBQ, but ended out being all delicious and well priced. Walls were adorned with U.S. advertising logos and signs from days of old. Priced well for both beers and food. A surprising little haunt in sleepy Hualien! |
