Order up front and pay up front even though you pretty much have a server. Staff are from Wisconsin so they are by default much nicer than most Americans, which is refreshing. Beer selection was about 20 taps, but only a few of these would be interesting to the beer explorer. Many were German imports for instance. Found some nice brews from Black Huskey and special stuff from Potosi. Pours were $5-7, which I thought was a tad high for the location. Food was very nice- fried cheese curds seem to be a Wisconsin staple. Hungarian slider was very good. So pretty much upgraded pub grub, fish and chips and that sort of thing. Patio seating and large tables accommodated a diverse group of patrons. Overall, liked my time here and worth a quick stop in for lunch. Thanks to motorheadtodd for telling me about this place :) |
70 /100 Bilda’s Friess Lake Pub (Bar) 4493 STATE RD 167 Typical pub/grill/bar setting. 10 tap mix of imports and US craft. Nice little mix including less than common taps. Friendly staff that are more than willing to sample out the brews first. Average to a tad high on the prices. Have heard good things about the food, but did not try. Definitely a repeat considering how close it is for me. |
66 /100 Bilda’s Friess Lake Pub (Bar) 4493 STATE RD 167 We were passing through and decided to stop at this place as it is only a short drive from our house. I was surprised to find 10 taps of good craft beer, all of different varieties. It is very hard to find good beer on tap in this area so I had to add this place. Stop by if you are in the area and are looking for a good beer. Food was decent too. |
68 /100 Fox and Hounds Restaurant - Hubertus (Restaurant) 1298 FRIESS LAKE RD Rustic restaurant in the Bavarian style. Lots of old wood. Many different rooms to enjoy. Beautiful bar with a decent selection of local micros (standard and seasonal) as well as import and commercial. Food is great, especially for the price. |
