“Nice little deaf owned and operated brewery down the street from Franklin's. Pizzeria Paradiso is also right around the corner. Small but ample parking space in their lot. Tiny taproom right inside with a couple long tables in the small brewing space. Outdoor patio with some additional table seating as well. No sign language necessary but I'm sure it helps and is appreciated. Flights of four available along with 16 oz pints. A little pricey at $11 for a flight. Solid variety of styles across the spectrum, enjoyed the Azacca sour and both stouts the most. Food is BYO, saw people bringing back Paradiso pizzas. Solid stop, recommend pairing with any of the nearby breweries/bars in Hyattsville and DC.“

“Visited for lunch on a Tuesday around 11:30 AM. The place is located in a secluded corner of the Prince George commercial area and the Community College. Street parking is available, but I would recommend parking at the mall and walking the 5-10 minutes to this place. Inside it feels a lot like a sports bar. Lots of televisions with various things to watch from SportsCenter to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The food menu is diverse. They offer typical bar food, but they also have some sort of connection to a sushi place, so when you sit down you get the bar menu and the sushi menu. I was wary to try the sushi, so went with the Washington Cobb Salad, which was pretty good. Very large portion. I tried one of the beers, the English Style Ale, and it was alright. Most of the beers they carry here are not their own, but they do carry 8 taps of Old Dominion. Overall the place is a decent option for lunch, but don't think I would say it is a must stop, and definitely don't go out of your way.“

“Yessir its a Pizza Paradiso. Characteristically solid tap list and bottle list, good 'za. They have a crazily small parking lot adjacent, but there is an overflow lot as well. Agree with previous review; don't road trip here, but if you are passing through, its a great place to lunch.“

“Wonderfully cozy place on the inside, despite unattractive route 1 outside. Parking is available, more important its very bike friendly. The proprietor is friendly and happy to talk about mead. Only reason I did not give higher rating for selection is that I don't know what the selection should be like at a meadery. I enjoyed both meads I had there, and thought they were good values - they also have flights, tasters, and growlers.“

“Visited on a Wednesday evening. Large parking lot, but it’s all metered. Funky looking two story building. Lots of character here. The parking lot had a good many cars in it, but inside didn’t seem too full. There was no wait to get seated, and once we were service was excellent. Unfortunately I don’t remember our server’s name, but she did a great job. Super friendly and helpful. The beer list is fairly diverse. They must be a pretty experimental brewery. Lots of traditional styles, but also several more trendy ones like fruited sours and barrel aged stuff. Pricing was about average. I had the Thai Pie pizza and enjoyed it a lot. Overall, this place is great and I would love to come back some day.“

“A bit of an older style brewpub upstairs but more modern on the main level. Full bar upstairs along with some more seating. A wide range of styles and all the ones I had ranged from solid to very good. Service was solid. I came here accidentally while trying to find Pizza Paradiso but was very happy to be here. Classic brewpub. Would come back for sure.“

“An upscale pizza joint with a good tap list and solid bottle selection. Moderately busy on a weekday evening but the bar was mostly clear. Tap list was solid but not outstanding. Local and some national brands. Pizza looked and smelled good and others seemed happy but I can't comment on the food. Not a place to search out but a good option if nearby.“

“Finally, the Hyattsville area gets a decent pizzeria! Now area residents don't have to slug on down to parking-unfriendly and frat-boy infested College Park for over-priced greasy pizza. I visited this eatery about the fourth week it was open and found the selection of pizzas and drinks (especially the beer) excellent, the quality of food (and beer) superb, and the service very good. Hint: if you like lamb, don't pass up the lamb sausage as a pizza topping - it's simply mouth watering! Admittedly, the square footage of this place is limited, so space can be tight, and prices are steep on some items, but you do have to pay for quality, so fair is fair. The beer selection is off the charts for an establishment like this. Amazing diversity of styles and types, and countries. Welcome Pizzeria Paradiso- you'll never see me buying pizza in College Park anymore!“

“Was recommended to me after an offhand comment of wanting a decent beer and a respectable crab cake for dinner. The wife had just received her major award from her employer today. This sounded like a good place to go. Metered parking lot. Which is ample. Two stories include a nice upstairs happy hour bar. Friendly brewer...who focking knew my local brewer. Sometimes the world is small. Food was very good. Get there early. No one complained that I wandered about the gift shop with a beer in hand. Oh joy.... there is a beer section in the gift shop... it’s like they were reading my mind. Good beer. Crab cakes of note. I’m betting this place gets noisy. “

“Finally got to check this place out thanks to Travlr! Street parking along with a paid lot next door. Combination restaurant/bar with a general/gift store, pretty unique. Sat upstairs at the bar, pretty good and friendly service. Solid selection of a dozen or so house beers available in tasters and pints. Above average beers with a few nice gems. Tasty brewpub food with burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, etc. Pizza is solid and the fried chicken sandwich was fantastic. General store has a small but solid selection of craft beer to go, both bottled house beers and other craft beer. Pretty good value all around. Well worth a stop if you’re nearby or on a DC brewery tour around DC Brau.“

“Great place, especially the store. In the latter there’s a great selection, with some odd Maryland stuff I’ve never heard of before. Lots of singles as well for tickers, and a bunch of discount old beers for sale. Some rare German/Belgian stuff as well. Friendly staff, both in store and restaurant. In the bar, the atmosphere is a little odd inside. Though it looks cool on the outside, inside is kind of like a glorified Denny’s - not a lot of character. Very friendly staff though. The beers were ok. I was expecting them to be a lot better as the ones they usually send to D.C. locations I’ve tried happened to be better. In any case it’s a must visit if in the area.“

“The perfect setup; brewery, family restaurant with excellent food, growlers to go, five and dime style retro store full of toys, trinkets, glassware, beer, wine, etc. The family keep begging me to bring them back to this place (not normally the case with a brew-pub). Beer is good, food is too. Wish they were closer to my home. Pay parking M-Sat, but its pretty cheap (compared to surrounding areas).“

“This place is pretty awesome, its a store, brewery, and restaurant all in one. Store: very kitchy, lots of fun items to buy, including beers and make your own six packs. They sell their own beers, and many many others. Brewery: They make their own beers on site, lots of good ones. Restaurant: great value, very good. Pile of mussels for appetizers is a must, any pizza or burger will do. I tried the flight of 10 beers, for about $14. Awesome value.“

“Funky place. Pubby upstairs, restaurant downstairs, connected to a kitschy general store with above-average bottle selection. In-house beers are not very good. But their flights are priced at $1.25 per sample, which is crazy cheap for DC area.“

“Location is not in the most beautiful part of the DC metro area but the place was quite pleasant. The bar upstairs had ample seating. Around a dozen of their own beers on tap, all were decent, none were extraordinary. The food we ordered was very good -- definetly way better than ordinary brewpub fare. The shop in the same buiilding was a fun diversion. It had the biggest selection of hot sauces I have ever seen.“

“Hard to rate all this in one rating . Upside , there is a brewery with mediocer beers, highway-restaurant feeling, good service and good prices . Food was nice as well . Recomended to pass by . Downstairs , there was a big shop , with some beers ( some ones I though were pretty nice to find ) , cider ( and Ice cider, which I haven’t found anywhere around ) , wine, etc . prices downstairs were on the high side of honoust, especially given the location . Good place though“

“Finally, my 50th brewpub rating. Trekked over here down US1/Baltimore Ave through University of Maryland. Traffic is always heavy. Thankfully, this place is off the campus main area and has its own parking lot that you pay digitally for 25 cents an hour- super cheap. Interior is cavernous with odd lawn art decor. Funky/quirky vibe. Server was in a great mood, upbeat. Food was larger plate, lots of soups/salads/sandwiches for good prices some more expensive entrees like salmon that didn’t look as interesting. The Mediterranean "thingy" was very good though not sure how to eat it as the pita wasn’t big enough to eat as a gyro and not cut up so as to eat it in little morsels. Cole slaw actually very good. Beer was about 9+ taps of house beers only with a good dose of specialties and seasonals. Quality was average to above average. Their funky sour mash beer was very good, much better than the hoppy stuff. Pumpkin stout was disappointing. Flight of 4 samples was 5 and you can tack on more 3oz samplers for I’m guessing $1.25 each. So good value, good service, okay beer. Just out of the way unless you are around College Park a lot.“

“Well worth the quick trip from DC! Quirky furnishings and exposed ductwork. Sort of family oriented, which I’m not so much into, but mid day durig the week this place is chill. The seasonal and specialty one offs are usually awesome, including their scotch ale and Van Damme Belgian strong. As a vegetarian, the menu offers some options, my favorite of which is the veggie pot pie. Serving sizes are massive, making the pricing seem a bit less salty.“

“Made it there for the first time last Saturday. Was greeted by some very happy employees. Found a seat at the bar - happy hour prices on quesadillas. Pretty decent selection of their house brews, also liked that you can get pre-filled bottles downstairs in the general store (some bottles aren’t on tap), as well as growler fills.“

“The general store is a hoot, with tons of bizarre stuff (turkey leg hat anyone?) jam packed into a large-ish space. The beer selection is incredible, and rarities abound. Of course, they also do growler sales of all 10 beers on tap, and a few that have just kicked. Food in the restaurant was average. Beers are mostly pretty tasty, and you can do samplers in multiple sizes. Worth the quick zip from DC.“

“Unique place - restaurant / bar with large "general store" that sells novelites, candies, beer / wine. Food was very good, service at the table was also good. I was surprised that for a small place they had 10 of their own beers on tap. Samples were only $1 for 4oz. I tried 6 beers and really enjoyed all but 1. That was my first visit and a very good experience... will come back (even though it’s a little tough to get to).“

“Nice little place off rte 1, solid beers, and good service. Food was also decent, nothing mind blowing. One thing I was quite disappointed in was the cleanliness of the glassware. “Located right downtown with a cheap parking lot immediately adjacent. Kind of a cool vibe. The menu was expansive and cheap, pub food, but I’m glad I didn’t eat given the fact the beer absolutely sucked and from what I saw, they didn’t seem to see the need to keep perishables cold. Bartender and hostess both seemed preoccupied. On the bright side, the store is cool, and is quite a nice bottle shop. I got several bottles including some that were out of stock elsewhere. They were on the pricy side. Overall it’s an interesting place, but not one I’ll probably be making again.“

“Decent brewpub in the heart of Hyattsville. Used to avoid going here to often because the brewer, while definitely innovative, lacked a little in the execution department. Beers tended to be overly hopped and always tasted slightly off. A new brewer has recently taken over and the quality of the beers has improved significantly. The beer selection is nice, with a few solid standards and some nice seasonals thrown into the rotation. The place is very family friendly and has a nice toy store attached to the restaurant. There’s a nice bottle selection in the back of the shop as well. Worth a visit.“

“Interesting place here. Restaurant vibe on main lever with sort of brewpub feel at the upstairs bar. General store was pretty nice with nice bottle selection including Brewdog Tokyo and some other nice brews. Had the Fish and Chips at the bar upstairs which was pretty good. Had a 8 beer sampler which was a hell of a deal for $8 when each sample was at least 4oz. The beers were pretty mediocre overall. They were out of the DIPA and IPA which was a little disappointing. Worth a stop.“

“Meh. I was not particularly impressed with this place overall. It was my first time there, and I went striaght upstairs to the bar. So I can’t comment about anything else. It was the middle of the day during the week when I was there, and there were not a lot of folks there. The bartender was a friendly guy, and the food was decent. The beer was nothing to write home about in my opinion. But I only had two of them. I had the Private IPA and the Hop Zen. The IPA was pretty lackluster, but the Hop Zen was decent. It reminded me of a young SN Bigfoot a little bit. Anyways, I don’t know man, I wasn’t really feeling it there. I wouldn’t mind going back for another shot, maybe at night during the weekend with a little more ambiance. But I’m not going out of my way to get there.“

“Pretty interesting place, takes me back, I use to love this place in College, but I hadn’t been here in years until I went this past weekend. Their beers are pretty solid, and the food is pretty good too. Hyattsville is not exactly a beer mecca (or a food mecca for that matter), but this place is pretty good. Don’t expect the employees to be very knowledgeable, but they try. I remember once the bouncer looked at my ID when I had been 21 for at least 5 months, and then argued with me for about 5 minutes that I wasn’t 21. As I tried to explain to him that my DOB was over 21 years ago I realized he wasn’t exactly a math scholar... Anyway, I have a soft spot for the place, as it was the only place within miles of the UMD Campus where you could get a decent beer.

As for the general store next to the restaurant, imaging a cross between the store at a Cracker Barrel and a pretty decent beer/wine shop. Yes, it is a weird combination, but it works. “

“I had the pleasure of visiting Franklins and getting a private tour with Greg, the assistant brewer. Definitely a unique place with a lot going on. They have a good selection of house beers, all good to above average, with a cask offering, several English-style and American-style ales, along with some Belgian stuff. The store also has a very nice bottle selection, plus lots of other random stuff that you just have to see. A bit tricky to get to from DC with public transport, but I managed.“

“A neat place. Set up like a flashy BBQ joint, the general store is next door and is a thing to see. Lots of tourist items, toys for the kids, and the beer and wine selection is for real. I picked up a sampled pack from a Virginia brewery. Only beer I had while dining was the imperial stout, which was solid, and the BBQ was decent enough to satisfy me and my picky BBQ tastes. It doesn’t touch true Oklahoma and Texas BBQ, but it wasn’t an imitation like so many other places in the north offer.“

“I never knew this place existed. About 4 miles from College Park, they have plenty of dirt cheap parking in the adjacent lot (25 cents and hour). Colorful comtemporary interior, with two levels. I drank at the upstairs bar. Nice happy hour from 4 -6:30pm, with $1off pints and discounted food. I had a $3 quesadilla that was decent. All the beers are above average, and they had a nice selection when I visited. Impy Stout, Barleywine, IPA, 2 strong ales, Red, Coffee Stout, and a few others. The crowd was mostly regulars and business travelers when I stopped by. Worth a visit.“

“This place is a diamond in the rough. From the outside you’d have no idea what lies inside. The restaurant/brewery is pretty sizable. They usually have 6 to 8 beers on tap, all of which are brewed on the premises. The food is pretty good, a step above your typical bar food. The service is always very good, the people are friendly and some are knowledgable about what’s on tap. If you stop in for lunch or to fill your growler, you have to check out their "general store". The beer selection is slightly below average, but I found a few gems I hadn’t found anywhere else. They carry a selection of six packs in the cooler from various American micro breweries (approximately 40 different brands). The selection of dry singles is small and cluttered, but if you take your time to go through it there’s some good stuff. The prices were average. Franklins is unique, I wish there were more places like this out there. Stop in to have a good lunch, taste their selection, fill your growler and hit up the general store for some micros you might not have seen elsewhere.“

“Located in an old warehouse - and that goes for both the surroundings and the interior - both seems somewhat run down - in a run down part of town. Maybe the parking prices tells it all: 25 cents for 2 hours!!! why bother with a parking meter?!? But it’s a nice place for a train spotter, since the trains run right back of the bulding and they are visible from a lot of the tables. I found the service quite slow, and the food edible, but nothing special (were there for lunch). 9 beers on at my visit - many of them quite tasty.“

“Great place in a crappy crappy area. Casual place, mix of low key college students, professors/researchers, and families. The standard staple of beers are all solid nothing amazing but all pleasent and drinkable. There seasonals are a gamble I have had some that were great and some that were not so great. I love the food. The chili (they don’t always have it) is some of the best that I have had, the thai fried ribs, the half chicken, there are many good options there.
