76 /100 Potting Shed (Bar) 160A HIGH STREET This is a crazy little place, 8 would be a crowd in here and there must have been over 20 on our visit. A popular local landlord downsized to this ex cafe and runs it under his own rules and very popular it is too. The beer range is necessarily restricted, with a few ciders thrown in. Very good. |
68 /100 Three Mariners (Bar) 37 WINDMILL STREET We visited this as the mini train that runs from Hythe had broken down and we therefore had some time on our hands, a quick glance on Ratebeer and this is where we found ourselves. A friendly locals pub just away from the beaches and 10 minutes from the miniature railway. Not a massive choice of beers, but just enough to go at. There is a pleasant patio area to the left. Well worth a look. |
72 /100 Three Mariners (Bar) 37 WINDMILL STREET We (me and the lovely Loz) visited here on Thursday 6th February and stayed in the campervan wild camping on a street close by. The place was reasonably busy with locals and when we first popped in one of them helpfully pointed us in the direction of a decent Indian restaurant. We came back suitably full after our meal and I had a Whitstable One Hop Centennial (as did Loz) which we both enjoyed. The beer choice was good, not brilliant but good. I then had a Westerham Double Stout but had to return this as it was well past its best, fair play to the young girl serving she never quibbled with my assessment of the beer and changed it promptly with no problems at all. This pub is situated on a side street in a residential area, it is split into two bars and is just a short walk from the town centre 4-5 mins at most just across the military canal. Would happily visit here again. |

64 /100 Three Mariners (Bar) 37 WINDMILL STREET A traditional back street two bar local, extensively refurbished in 2007 with lots of stripped pine, but still retaining some of its original character. 7 handpumps with Youngs Bitter and Biddenden Bushels cider as the regulars and local guests. One of the best selections of non-SN real ales in the area. |
