“Large beer hall, convenient from the PATH. Taplist fairly large, with quite a few local Jersey options. Food was fine. Not worth a special trip, but a reasonable place for a few ticks.“

“Huge, cavernous beer hall and smoke house in Jersey City, not far from the Newport Mall. Use Groove street stop if you'll take the PATH there. 18 beers on tap, with rotating local choices and German beers, about 10 bottles/cans, good food menu (smoke house!). Sports bar theme with myriad TV screens around, long community tables and a long metal top bar. A good stop for lunch or dinner with quality beer.“

“Relatively close to the Grove st path station, this place is located in a big old industrial building transformed into lofts and shops. The taproom has a cool industrial graffiti vibe. The service was friendly. Beer flight of 4 for 15$.Afew duds and a few great ones. Good stop in Jersey City.“

“Loved this place. Located less than 10 minutes from Grove St path station, this place has great beers and great wurst!!! Beer selection is solid, 14 great taps with a wide variety. No flights or small pours but free tastes are offered if you ask. The prices are decent compared with NYC. They have 8 dogs, as well as sausage plates, burger and appetizers. The Seoul hot dog was fantastic.“

“Skateboard-themed brewpub which even goes so far as serving flights on a minitiature board. Bit chaotic skatepunk warehouse interior but I liked it. Friendly guys serving the beers, obviously into it and willing to answer questions. Had a flight of four and a full pour for 15 dollars, fair for this general area. Beers were decent at best, unfortunately. A number of the brews are gluten-free. Worth a stop when you're in Jersey City just for the atmosphere, not worth a detour as there are so many superior breweries in NYC. Still, I have sympathy for this brewpub.“

“Sign above the door says Jersey Wine & Spirits. Had a lot of Halloween decorations in the windows so was easy to miss that it is a beer shop. Had a small, but nice, selection of mostly local beers that could be had as singles. Since we stayed in an apartment not far away it was a good stop, but wouldn't go out of my way to get there, but worth a stop if you are in the area.“

“They have 1 thing going for them - the view over the New York skyline over Hudson River. Other than that meh. Modern quite big place, steel, glass, concrete, wood. Rather cold both by temperature and ambience - the 3 score is mainly due to the veiw. Surposed to be 40 tap's but as i was studying the list i was handed a hand written note with the beers actually on, about 15 and mostly macros. 4 piece flights served, but not 4 beers i cared to drink. We had an IPA each wich where in fine condition. No NJ beers on the list. Service gets annoing after the 3rd "Are we doing allright her?" In 5 minuttes. Cheap prices as our 2 pints turned out to be 13$ even as they where listet at 9$ each (both where on the bill) and the couple next table just where told there where no happy hour.“

“Short walk from the PATH train leaving from World Trade Center. A bit rough / rustik ambiance, concrete floor, wooden tables, and a lot of old arcade machines. Good rock music playing. 20 some tap's, a single cask line. didnt venture into any bottles. Was handed a few samples before deciding. 5 NJ beers for me. Fast and friendly service, good quality. Prices where good, cheaper than NY. Would like to return.“

“First floor of what looks like an converted warehouse into an apartment complex. Concert floors but a ton of stuff not the walls. Has a whole Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle theme going on. Someone is certainly a fan. Really busy and cramped when I visited on a Saturday afternoon. Certainly a lively place to be and drink. Lots of high top benches if that makes sense with some high top tables as well. In the back is more traditional seating. Brewing operations in the back and it honestly looked like a tornado hit the place. Only had time for one glass and it was ok but certainly worth another visit to sample what else they have. About 8-10 drafts with bottles to go as well as growler fills available. Interesting atmosphere and ok beer. Only thing available in the area so I understand why it was busy. Walking distance to the train which was nice. I stopped here on my way to Madison Square Garden to see Phish perform one night of the Baker’s Dozen.“

“A nice family run restaurant. Brick walls, a nice bar area when you enter and upstairs is for dining. Beer menu and craft beers on tap, served in 10 or 12oz. Also three different beer flighs available. Service was nice and music was varied and agreeable (jazz, Irish, reaggae, pop/rock) A nice place in old town Jersey City that deserves a visit from craft beer enthusiasts. (Visited June 21st 2016)“

“Warehouse feel, that’s for sure. High ceilings, brick wall, concrete floor and rather dim lighting. The arcade games are not my thing but didn’t bother me since I focused on the great selection of draft beer. I got half pour and staff was knowledgeable and service minded. Loved the rock music and the atmosphere this early Tuesday evening. And, good beers to! (Visited June 21st 2016)“

“A nice diner with interesting beers on tap. Four beers from Kane Brewing (12 or 16 oz draft) but also beers from Great Lakes, Weyerbacher, Captain Lawrence, Ommegang and Victory. Not bad at all for a diner! Tv screens all over the place and crappy music "kills the ambiance" a bit for me. But, in the US, sports and craft beers sems to go hand in hand. (Visited June 20th 2016)“

“Nice old building and a classic bar with lots of dark wood. I sat in the bar at ground floor. Nice service and cool pop/rock music. I had two beers, 10 oz and 13,5 oz. Flights? Oh yes, but who pays 18, 24 or 28 $ for 6 x 3 oz pours!! It’s expensive, even for a Norwegian beer geek... (Visited June 20th 2016)“

“We stayed near Newport Path Station and a short walk along the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway led us to our nearest craft beer bar. Amazing NYC views, thats for sure, both from Taphaus but especially from the waterfront walkway. Sadly, Taphaus don’t have outdoor seating. 48 taps and beers from local breweries such as River Horse and Departed Soles were what I needed this warm summer evening. Efficient service but boring disco music and beers served in pint only, was a drawback. Why not offer flights or 4-5 oz pours when you have 48 taps? (Visited with my wife June 20th 2016)“

“A huge warehouse and the best place for me to do bottle shopping. We stayed in an apartment near Newport Path Station and I walked back and forth, bringing back 12 small singles to my empty fridge. The selection of 12 oz singles where you could pick and create your own six pack, really made my day. I have to admit, the six pack "thing" and all the big bombers are irritating when you just want to try many new beers. And, why not display local New Jersey beers better? (Visited June 20th 2016)“

“In a warehouse complex. Parking is tough, but there is a pay lot a block over. Nice skateboard atmosphere. Prices were a little high, but not out of sync with the area. They have a couple of gluten free offerings which were good for gluten free. Preferred the non-gluten free beers though.“

“Great location...very nice setup...and on the right day...a really fun place to hangout...especially at the outdoor tables. The food "can" be good too. The problems can be many though. The service is often not good...especially the food which is notoriously slow,...and often cold when it arrives...which is a shame because it’s decent food when fresh and hot. The place can get very crowded...but they also have live music at times...and coupled with the outdoor beer garden...it can definitely be a fun place to hangout. I don’t really like the indoor spaces...sort of cavernous and loud without much character...although they work well when they are have a large crowd for a festival. This place is often best for going to with a large group of friends (and even better if there is live music) as you’ll all fit and can make your own fun. Definitely should be checked out...and give it a few tries...I’ve had more fun here some times than others.“

“Definitely a great place to hangout...sand and all...but not a real craftbeer bar. They have a number of acceptable choices on any given day...but this is more about trying to create a beach bar/tiki bar at a marina overlooking The City...than trying to focus on craftbeer. Having said that...and if you re coming for what is often a cool bar scene...that there are some decent craftbeers to drink while her is a really nice bonus. Surf City is the kind of place that could easily have just done macros plus a Sam Adams or two...that they didn’t is kudos to them!“

“Very large store with tons of beer. Didn’t have time to explore all of it, but plenty to choose from, especially if you’re not from the area. Lots of singles available, both in and out of coolers. No rares, though. Prices seemed cheaper than in NYC. Left with 7 or 8 bottles.“

“It’s now called Jersey Wine & Spirits. A fairly small store with a fairly small selection of beer - if I had to guess, I’d estimate maybe 100-150 bottles. Only had a single New Jersey bottle (which I bought, and it turned out to be infected). But the selection they did have was fairly decent. The staff offered to help but didn’t seem to know much about beer. An okay stop if you’re nearby, but not something you’d want to go out of your way for.“

“Stopped by here on a recommendation from a restaurant on the same street. Only a small wall of stuff. A few rare bottles from time to time but mostly for artisanal wines. The highlight is a shelf of build your own six packs which comes with a 10% discount. Good if you’re looking to pick up one bottle of something. Some of the bottles are a little on the old side (1-2 months for IPAs) but the rest makes up for it. Clean, warm decor of wood and black steel wire racks. Helpful staff and light music playing in the background.“

“Big selection of American craft beers - Founders, Flying Dog, etc. A small selection of German and Belgians. Mostly for getting 6 packs or cases as they offer huge discounts. The place is basically a warehouse for wine and beer so don’t expect much else. It holds a lot of stuff but not a lot of rares. Either way, decent place to go if you’re looking.“

“One of 3 Barcade’s...all of which are very good. You have to love the vintage video games. The beer selections are always strong and always include nice selections of regional craftbeers. “Nice brewery in JC...decent enough space...decorated in a very cool way...there is a subway vibe along with some other colorful elements. I thought the staff was great...helpful...and providing very good service. I enjoyed the beers...but they didn’t really blow me away...as in...none were exceptional. Note that they make gluten free beers...which is great for the target audience...and probably a lot of newer craftbeer fans...but for those that have tried many...and developed a good craftbeer palate...or made their own...you will taste the difference. Nonetheless...definitely a place I will visit when in the area...just not a special trip.“

“Took advantage of an unusual 60 degree weekend day in February to finally check this place out. The draft list here, is fine. More of a quantity over quality list, but there’s plenty to drink here. Mostly, it’s going to be the larger national and regional crafts. Could certainly use an upgrade in the local options. Built into the ground floor of one of the large residential buildings along the waterfront, the main reason to go is the set-up / views though. Windows go all the way around with amazing NYC views. One of those set-up I’m constantly surprised there aren’t 25 of along the Jersey City waterfront, but honestly, this is one of the few. Outside isn’t open yet, but looks like there’s going to be enough room for 30+ outdoor tables right on the waterfront as well. I didn’t try to food on my first visit, but I will eventually. I’ll definitely be back in the spring to check out the deck and enjoy the views some more. “

“Visited for their grand opening weekend. Nice sized place with a garage / warehouse type feel. You walk through the gelato place to get there which is kind of strange, but works. Very much the newer Jersey City feel of almost a Williamsburg of Jersey, right down to a guy trimming beards in the brewery. Decently crowded, but plenty of room. Had about 6 or 8 beers, and they still seem to be tweaking all the recipes, so they beers are changing / improving as they go. Worthy of a visit if you are in the area, I’m interested to see how they progress.“

“Quirky joint in Jersey City. What a freakin’ dilemma. Should I A) order a Red Barn on tap, B) spend the first five minutes taking in the all Jersey has to offer in the voyeur department, or C) get straight into a game of Joust, Galaga, or Tempest?? Decent tap list, friendly staff, and a whole lot to of peripheral attractions to keep the mind occupied.“

The Thirsty Quaker (Homebrew Shop)

“This is a nice little Homebrew shop, with a decent bottle selection. You won’t find anything crazy here, but it’s definitely a beer-centric place. Homebrew supplies is their main business, but you can tell they have an appreciation for the commercial brews as well. They do have a tiny little parking lot around the side, which is pretty rare in the area. They have tasting and classes and whatnot, though I have not been present for any of these. Worth checking out for sure.“

“Love the outdoor space, best I have seen so far in this area. Average beer selection with a good lean on German beers, but nothing special if you are from Germany. Food average- a lot a bit wanna be German ...I mean Munich Bratwurst with Mayo (wtf). The pretzels are good though and the obatzer is decent. Good place to go with a crowd of people, although they are super overwhelmed and understaffed at bigger events. For the world cup final game it took about 40 mins to get beer and most available bar spots were closed.“

“Nice small selection of beer. Staff not really knowledgable if you ask them about the beers, and they also seem not to really care...a bit sad. The prices are higher than usually. A sixer of Stone is 16 Dollars in comparison to 14 elsewhere in JC and that is a pattern I have seen over 9 months.“

“First experience was a bit mixed. Loved the roof terrace - which we sat on although it was REALLY cold, because the whole house stank really funky. The beer list was good but a lot of beers weren’t available. We got both the wrong beer the first time we ordered, service was very nice though. Barcade (Bar)

“Visited on 4/30/13. A: Wide open old brick style building, has that warehouse type feel with the high, steel beamed ceilings and brick walls, roll up garage doors in the front. Wide open floorplan with several tables scattered throughout and a bar that can hold about 14-16 people. about 30 vintage video games lined two corners of the building. Q: They offered some really good selections when I was there including Habanero Sculpin and Victory Double Simcoe on mangoes (cask),a nice variety of good beers. S: The bartender was knowledgable and waiting for a beer didnt take too long. Beers served at proper temperatures and glassware. S: Decent selection that covered many various styles..hard to find a horrible beer on their menu but some plain average beers strewn within some really decent beers. F: The food selection is weird pub fare food. Tried the pulled pork/mac n cheese sandwich...very bland. V: Well, given the fact that it is NYC area, expect to pay NYC type prices of 7/8 dollars per pint. Overall, a pretty fun place to go...wouldnt want to be there when it is crowded or overly loud but we had plenty of access to the bar, TVs and games. A fun place especially if oyu love classic video games.“
