“Opened in fall 2020, in the building shared by the Hyatt, just outside Kanazawa station. Pretty wide range of American craft imports, plus a number of local beers as well. Prices fairly typical. The bar offers a few Beer Marche plus a couple other rotating craft taps. Draft beer to go ¥880/ about 450mls.“

“Open two and half years now. A solid addition to the previously limited craft beer scene in this pleasant city. Has 20 taps, and 13 were on when we went. Mix of Japanese and US Pacific NW beers. Seats for six at counter, 6-8 at standing counter, and perhaps 16-18 at tables. Heavy metal on the sound system -- it was not too loud but did get a bit irritating after a while (I mean, who wants to hear constant raspy throaty musical threats and death rattles while trying to evaluate beers? .... well, the owner does, I suppose...). Anyway, he was truly friendly and seems to be quite interested in talking about the beer he serves. Prices: Y750-850 for small; Y1150-1250 for regular. Probably the best place in town at this time.“

“Outpost of Oriental Brewing. At the far end of the station, take the escalator to the 2nd floor, and it's on your left. Eight taps, six with Oriental Brewing beers and two guest brews. Seating for eight people at the counter and twenty-two at tables. Bright, austere atmosphere... but the staff was very friendly and able to answer questions about the beer. Limited pub grub menu: pizza, fish & chips, but a few also interesting items, such as beer-battered lotus root fritters and fried hops. Prices: Y700-800 for 350ml glasses. The beers made by Oriental Brewing are passably drinkable and should probably improve in the future.“

“opened April 18th and I visited April 30th. Despite the only 12 days since it opened, this place was well dialed in. 10 US tap and three Japanese. Japanese were well chosen and US, oddly, were 100% from Evergreen imports so very Washington focused. 650 yen for half pints, even for imports, was by far the best deal in town. Food was western, but very very good. They had this odd, marscapone cheese between a a half cut cherry tomato with a slice fresh basil, drizzled in olive oil and sprinkled with salt that was amazing. Staff was friendly. Place was dead and we visited other places that were much more expensive offering less quality of beer that were packed. This place will become popular soon. Even in a big city, this place would be awesome. Pasta was equally awesome, as was otoshi. Went back two nights in a row. Best place in Kanazawa hands down.“

“Small, cafe-like place serving food (which I didn’t try) and a few craft beers. The menu was all Japanese characters, and the waitress couldn’t explain because she was Chinese. Nearly empty when I was there late Sunday evening. So I didn’t get very much out of my visit, to be honest.“

“Small, nice, cafe-like place with good service and good food. Quiet in the early evening, and the two guys behind the bar were talkative and friendly. The beer selection wasn’t that impressive.“

“Dark, wooden bar with three high tables and a small row of chairs along the bar. Sitting along the bar is great if you want to strike up a conversation, which I did every time I was there. The menu is all Japanese characters, but the staff will happily explain. Very conversation-focused place, kind of an izakaya, really. The food looked excellent, but I didn’t try it. Eight beers on, of which two were American, one was Rulles Trippel, and the rest Japanese. All the beers were in top-notch condition and well chosen. Definitely the best place in town.“

“Nice, small bar with big windows onto a busy street. Relaxing place in the afternoon with good service and good music. Food was very good. Their own beers were OK, but not very exciting. Other than that they had a few Japanese and some imports on. Good place, and a perfect stop after seeing the Higashi Chaya geisha district.“

“Meh, it’s ok. Didn’t groove on the vibe like others did. Just lots of drunk people when we arrived. Taplist was decent, but prices were high (on par with most of Kanazawa craft beer bars). Master wasn’t particularly interested in talking with me and my wife. Given its location, close to TriStar, and not far from other places it’s worth a stop.“

“Cool looking place form the outside in the traditional neighborhood of Higashi Chaya. Seats about 20-25 people and when I was there they had three of their own beers on tap plus 5-6 guest beers. Their own beers were serviceable but hardly memorable. Staff were really friendly and food looked good, but I didn’t eat. This was my second favorite place in Kanazawa.“

“We went on a Sunday night and it was packed. Cozy place, good service, tap list was just so-so. Not bad but not special. Like most place in Kanazawa I found prices to be expensive. Meh, it’s close to other places so worth a stopover.“

“This is a combo of my wife’s and mine review. She had ramen and I drank beer. Beer - small but good eclectic selection, however very pricey if you are ordering small sizes. Pints of domestic top out at 1280 yen. That said they serve Kanazawa brewery and Berkut brewery beers, so that is very unique. Oddly tons of Oceanside beers in bottles. Lots of sake and whisky as well. Ignoring price, this is very good. Food - my wife had soy sauce ramen which is made a dried fish and chicken broth. That was ok but she added their homemade sichimi and that really brought up things. Very delicate ramen but doesn’t stand out in its own. She said "it’s ok" Worth a quick stop, especially if you want more than just beer. Unique place for sure but don’t expect to be super blown away“

“Cool, chill place where I felt at home even though I was the only customer. Lots of different food to choose from. 6 taps when I went, half Japanese and half American craft. Prices about average. The master was very nice and we chatted a lot. I very relaxed, neighborhood vibe that I enjoyed. This would probably be a major hangout for me if I lived here.“

“Nice place in the Higashiyama geisha district. Lots of tourists come in to eat and drink, it seems. Clean and new with nice wood and the brewery visible in the back. 8 taps, 3 or which were their house brews, which were pretty good despite them being going only 4 months. The rest were Japanese craft, plus Asahi. ¥700 plus tax for a glass. Pizza oven was going and the food looked very good but I did not eat. Friendly service and they speak English. Should be a place that gets better and better once they dial in the brewery.“

“Best selection in Kanazawa for sure. 8 taps were very well chosen, with about 5 Japanese craft and 3 Americans if I remember correctly, and in a range of styles. Basically ¥1080 for J pints, ¥1180 for imports. Pints are good value. Had a Daisen Wheat Wine that they owner aged himself for 3 years. Great. Good food too. Knowledgeable, friendly service. A must stop. “

“Quite small ramen restaurant with an izakaya feel and 6 taps of craft beer, plus a few sakes and a handful of bottles of craft. Ramen smelled great but I was in a hurry and full so I didn’t eat. In February, they had awesome looking oden as well. Tap beers always include something from Kanazawa Brewery, so come here if you want to try their beers. Prices are reasonable, especially for pints. They seem to dispense sake from the tap as well, although I did not have time to try it. Service was friendly, although the matron had yet to come in, and she seems to know her beers. Definitely want to come back here with an empty stomach and stay awhile.“

“Nice little bar on the main drag in Higashiyama, small brewery out the back. 8 taps with mostly local beers including two house beers; maybe 8-10 bottles. Bar food and pizza on the menu, pretty enthusiastic and friendly staff. Also have takeaway beers in big plastic cups which are great value at 700 yen a pop“

“Visited in the afternoon, place was empty. There was a downpour outside and we were waiting for this place to open. 8 taps, I believe all Japanese and US micros. Menu was in Japanese and the bartender didn’t speak much English. We stayed for a couple of drinks, seemed like a decent place especially since there’s not much choice in Kanazawa.“

“Small place, located near the Kanazawa City Hall, in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Run by the former manager of Korinbo Jibiruba. Clean, minimalist design. Ten seats at the bar and six at one large round table. The place was half full, with several groups of middle-aged locals who all seemed to know each other. They were a bit loud but quite friendly. Eight taps ... but only five were on: two from Shiga Kogen, one from Minoh, and two US beers. Variable pricing: glass for ¥750-850 and pint for ¥1100-1200. Large bar food menu (they were touting their vanilla ice cream IPA beer float, which I did not venture to try). Servers were friendly and informed. I liked this place and will definitely return next time I’m in Kanazawa.“

“One of two bars that focus on craft beer in Kanazawa. Located in the Katamachi nightlife district, it has been open for three years. Fairly small place, with bar seats for six and a further six at tables. Wood-lined walls, high ceiling, pleasant decor. Only one other customer on a Saturday night in early August. The bartender was chatty and seemed to know the beer he was serving. Eight taps: six were Japanese craft and two foreign, with nothing really unusual or exceptional on tap. Decent prices: glass for ¥770 and pints for ¥1080. Beers were served in good condition. Extensive bar food menu, but a bit pricey. Nice place to check out if you are in Kanazawa.“
