“Familia is what it says it is - a family-run brewery, that's spread around nicely due to the quality/consistency of their regular range (blonde / red / APA), located in a characteristically ugly wild 90s Kaštela-architecture bulding along the Jadranska magistrala in Kaštel Gomilica. They've done the best they can to create a small patio that's pleasant to sit in, with good music playing in the background. Darko and Marina are great people and will surely make you feel welcome, no doubt there - English is definitely spoken. Beer prices are quite good for the area (20 or 22 for 0.5l), and their base range is available on tap and in bottles to go (in a fridge) - there are craftjuice and spirit options for those who want so - taco chips with salsa are the only food option (with Juta Spiza sauces to spice things up if needed). It's definitely kid-friendly (I'd guess dog-friendly too) - there were a few of mothers with kids when I was there - glad to see locals slowly starting to recognize the place. While you can find their beers even in supermarkets around nowadays, and in the craft beer bars around, but if you're around, or traveling down the Magistrala towards Solin/Split, this is still an excellent pit-stop. I do hope their expansion plans work out, they are sure to create something even better if they do. How to get here: ooooof... by car, with a designated driver. If you wanna do it the HC way... do what I did. Take a (dirt cheap, 1.60€ cca) train (!) ticket from Split to Kaštel Gomilica. Check return rides in advance as well to know how long you can stay, HŽ's schedule is weird. Then... get out at the correct station (Kaštel Gomilica), the fourth stop from there, in 20 minutes or so. You should be able to cross the tracks like the locals do (illegal, not liable for anything) and immediately go uphill to the main road, then turn left and walk a little until you hit it. Or circle around back until the official crossing, then do the same - go uphill / north, till you hit the main road, then turn left and go there.“
