“Small Bierstube like pub with Finnish Kneipe flavour. But at least it has history. All the way from 1971. 4 taps (Karhu III/Karhu IV/Grimbergen Blanche/Budejovicke Budvar). 30-40 bottles. Nothing out of the ordinary. Not worth the detour to be honest.“

“Ice Hockey on screen inside and outside. Lousy service. The bartenders (I presume they were bartenders) were more focused on their laptops than customers. Quite boring tap selections (7 taps) and some quite expensive bottles (from Pikkulintu).“

“English style pub in Kuopio city centre. One Beer Hunter’s tap + 7 other taps. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Monday night couple of customers. Moderate or even cheap prices. Cantillon Fou Foune 750 ml 17 eur, Jandrain-Jandrenouille IV Saison 750 ml 15 eur. Couple of big bottles in fridge but the fridge was broken so the bottles were warm. Some bottles in cellar also.“

“This used to be a great bar a few years ago, but unfortunately the selection has stayed pretty much the same since then. Some vintage Cantillons and other Belgian beers still available, but otherwise nothing special aside from a rotating Beer Hunters tap. Cantillons are super cheap considering their age, but some of the other bottled beers can be quite expensive.“

“Cozy and large cellar bar with a large outside patio. The largest selection of taps and bottled beers in Kuopio. Themed bottle weeks and special taps available every now and then. Decent selection of Brewdog, Mikkeller and some American & Belgian beers, and the prices are quite reasonable too. This place has improved a lot in a few years and is clearly the best place for craft beer in Kuopio right now.“

“Just a few blocks away from the central Kuopio, a nice cellar pub with small selection of bottled beers imported by Pikkulintu. One or sometimes two (very slowly) rotating tap(s) of microbrews. They might have additional bottles at the back room, so remember to ask the staff what they have there. During summer they have a large outside patio that is a nice place to spend the evening. UPDATE: As of 2013 and 2014, the selection has not changed that often and the prices have gone up. Last time I visited they had nothing of interest available.“

“Quite nice selection of foreign (German, Belgian, other European) beers, very few Finnish Micros, only the standard Finnish selection. Very helpful staff.“

“Beer restaurant downstairs. Quite comfy and the tables are located so there’s a computer for every table. This place is very crowded if there’s an ice hockey match going on the television or if there’s an artist playing.

One or two taps for "not your bulky beers", usually something from a common Finnish importer. Bottle selection has some tasty Belgian beers (Oerbier for example), but the selection doesn’t change very often. They’ve had some beers from small Finnish breweries though.

Service is good, however sometimes the bartenders aren’t really beer experts. One time a bartender recommended a beer for me because it had a high ABV.

This is located near Ravintola Gloria and Pannuhuone, so it’s worth a visit if you have time.“

“Located in Kauppakatu, Kuopio city center. This place used to be awesome a couple of years ago. They had lots of American and Belgian beers and the selection seemed evolve, but now they still have some beers from that time. A year ago I tasted Westvleteren Abt 12 here, that’s definitely something. Prices are quite low, 14.90 EUR for a large Cantillon bottle can be considered cheap in a Finnish pub when compared to some other places.

Service is good, selection is good but it changes quite slow. Currently they have 8 beers from Haandbryggeriet.

On a side note, there are only three pubs in Finland where Beer Hunters’ beers are on tap regularly and this is one of them. Pikkulintu, Helsinki and of course Beer Hunters brewpub are the other two.“

“This place used to be a "normal" pub without any rarities, just mainly the most basic beers from common Finnish importers. All changed when this place started to take beers from Pikkulintu, Helsinki, one of the best beer importers in Finland.

Pannuhuone is in the Kuopio city center. There are lots of bars in Kauppakatu, and this is one of the best. Quiet place, seven taps (2-3 can be considered "special") and good service. Nice leather sofa’s, live music, no food. Pannuhuone has also participated in Pikkulintu’s special weeks, such as Bitter & Sour and American Weeks. Definitely a place to visit in Kuopio.“

“The upstairs might seem a bit offsetting for your average beer enthusiast but not to worry, that’s for the wine people. Downstairs you’ll find a very comfortable beer restaurant with a superb selection and bartenders who know what they’re talking about. Worth a visit when you’re in Kuopio.“
