“Visited the place in September 2018, nice place but the only Cuban beer available was Cristal.“

“Patio spilling out into the square, lots of metal tables, all taken by tourists and travelers. Service is ok, don't expect much. No offer of choices when I was there, everyone drinking the same beer. I didn't see anyone eating and had no idea they had food. Not many options here, lucky to have stumbled upon it, but nothing makes me want to go back ever.“

“26th May 2018. Warehouse in the port area of Havana - modern venue, but was half empty due to heavy rain. Service was OK, but only 1 beer on tap! (we only have light....). Food venue looked decent but the limited beer selection made me decide to eat and drink elsewhere after the one beer.“

“Huge, former warehouse converted into microbrewery. Located at the Habana waterfront, pretty close to the old town. Pretty nice modern design and not bad mood - especially with the live music. They had 3 beers on taps: light, dark and black. Took the dark one and it was acceptable - anyway, far better then all lagers like Cristal or Bucanero. Service was, more or less, ok., have not tried food. Nothing special but anyway, worth to visit.“

“Landmark place in Old Habana, reknown because of Hemingway's. You must try their famous mojito's, the best. A nice place, extremely busy.“

“A high-end restaurant in Old Habana. We thought it would be a treat, ordered fish, got sick. Nice old building, but be wary. (we visited in 2006)“

“Very busy with tourists (like me) and beer drinkers looking for some upgrade from the usual Cuba canned beer. Relative OK beer. Service however is crap, although 2nd day little better. Nice to have conversation with Cuban beer drinkers. Limited choice and when not carefull very overcharged.“

“The name seemed to be "Factoria Plaza Vieja" rather than "Taberna de la Muralla" - they both describe what and where it is. Big open room room opening out onto square with plenty of outside seating. Bright cavernous room with large bar and brewing equipment behind. Pleasant fiesta atmosphere with live Latin band. Their own three beers on offer, not sure what esle there was. These are not great beers, but they are the best I have found in my short visit to Havana. The service was awful, even by Havana standards. There were plenty of staff chatting but it was very hard to get served. When I was served it was friendly enough. By global standards this offers great value for money at ~$2/pint.“

“Giant, modern looking place in a converted warehouse on the Havana waterfront, adjacent to the old town. The service was typically sluggish. Nice place, you wouldn’t know you were in Cuba. Of the three brewpubs in Cuba as of Jan 2016, this one has by far the worst beers. Between four of us, and three beers on the table, I don’t think we finished the equivalent of a single glass. Because it’s Cuba, the place is a joint venture between Austrian equipment-maker Salm and Cuban hospitality company Palmares, like all the other brewpubs. That also means don’t expect anything to change anytime soon, because nothing changed in ten years at the Plaza Vieja location.“

“Large open area out front of a smaller building with the brewery in the back. Beers were cheap, and bad by global standards, but still nice to try something and support. Everything was served in a dimpled mug.“

“Turistic place...no cubans drinking here. Food is the worst I taste in my trip. Beers are standard with a lot of carbonation.“

“Touristy brewpub on one of the main squares. Music was typical of cuba. Beers $2 or beer and a burger for $6. Atmosphere was the best part. The beers (one light and one dark) were barely drinkable, but definitely not good. The new brewery that opened up on the waterfront a few blocks away had much better beers. Still, you gotta support any effort to get more people drinking ’craft’ beer...“

“Looked this place up during a stay in Havana especially for it’s beers which are definitely the best I tried in Cuba and the countries widest range. On arrival place was busy but secured an outside table and was (eventually) offered a choice of 3 beers described in no more detail than ’light, dark and black’ I opted for one of each in turn, starting light and working darker. Served in dimpled pint glasses with an average serving of about 2/3 pint though noticably clearly no standard measure existed. The ’light’ was not good at all, but ’black’ good and ’dark’ very good. Food was decent enough if rather expensive, in fact I thought everything was expensive by Cuba standards and clearly very geared to tourists as is the location (Note also the bill was overcharged which I spotted - they tried to explain the error but couldn’t!). The atmosphere was a real positive though, busy, and bustling, with some excellent live Cuban music from ’Sexteto Caribeno’ who were so good I treated myself to a copy of their CD. All in all a really good place to while away a couple of atmospheric hours in Havana.“

“A truly wierd and wonderful sight when in Cuba, a state-of-the-art brewery in the middle of Havana. The beers were decent, good if you compare it to the standard Cuban beers. If you’re not bothered by the ’brushed-up’ Habana Vieja this is nestled in the renovated plaza, a beautiful but very un-Cuban setting. The service was standard Cuban, not very engaging at all that is. The value is decent, it’s more expensive than most places considering it’s in the more touristy-parts of Havana but it’s still very very cheap by western-standards.“

“Well, in my opinion almost everything is fake in central Havana, and somehow this brewery as well; nevertheless the beers are more than decent, especially the Blond, and so it became our last stop of the evening before heading back to the hotel.“

“Nice chilled atmosphere inside - outside was a little more chaotic. Wandering bands, good friendly staff, choice of three beers (dark was the pick), and ridiculously cheap food (hamburger and a pint for about three bucks). can never rival the 200+ bottle venues, but a nice chilled out place to enjoy a beer and watch the world go by“

“Come ambiente neanche si commenta. pazzesco! Si mangia e si beve all’aperto su Plaza Vieja, una piazza in stile coloniale bellissima. Ahimè il cibo non è un granchè perchè il posto è davvero turistico. Le birre sono passabili(siamo a Cuba), sono artigianali e le fanno sul posto, ma non si fanno ricordare.Anzi...“

“Visited in July 2007. A beautiful large open space pub with large copper kettle just behind the bar. We chose to sit at tables outside with there being no seatage inside. We waited to be served for about 5-10 minutes before choosing to go to the bar and place our order, waiting another 5 minutes to speak to someone. I was told that a waitress would come to our table for our order!!! Ahhhh!! Poor service, not much knowledge of beer, but that’s okay. I fail to recall the name of the beer I had although I think it has rum in it!! My wife, she had a mojito style beer. Very strange, but strangely good. All in all, not bad but not superb.“

“Very tourist-oriented venture on a main square in old Havana. Food is okay, service a bit dodgy. Lomo ahumado is probably the best menu choice, a nice Cuban specialty. Only two beers when I was there. The Claro was borderline undrinkable; the Cura a bit better but not much. Didn’t seem to bother the throngs of tourists, who dug the outdoor grill, Buena Vista - butchering band and the taste of home in an otherwise very un-Western country. May the next craft brewery in Cuba be a vast improvement.“

“A large open brew pub. The kettle is right at the bar although they were working on it when I was there. The tanks are in a very clean room. Not speaking Spanish but having an interpreter with me I don’t think that the staff has much beer knowledge. A manager gave me a tour and showed me the pellets and grain. Whomever the brewer is he needs more money for stronger flavour or some help in the process. I almost had to argue with the server to let me have 3 pints so that I could taste them all. He wanted to let me have a sample first but hey I was on vacation!“
