84 /100 1790 SWARTHMORE AVE UNIT 3, LOT 2 Industrial park brewer. I wanted to go here last year, but the 1 day I was in the area they were closed for a private event. Glad I made it out finally! IPAs, BA big boys, sours, and more. It was busy as it is a smaller tap room but founda a spot to sit in the back room. Would defintely stop by if in the area and I will be back. |
76 /100 3671 INDUSTRY AVE UNIT C1 In a warehouse district near the airport, which I love, because parking is easy. Clearly I see the difference in customer volume vs. other breweries. Much smaller, but still about 8 people here. Great prices: $2.50 on average. Interior is awesome. Lots of speakers and stickers x. 16 beers on tap. All easy drinking styles. Decent quality. 3.8 |
82 /100 1790 SWARTHMORE AVE UNIT 3, LOT 2 Industrial park location, smallish, but cool taproom. Order at the bar, find your own seating. Not much except for what you have inside. Deep taplist, a lot of IPAs. Mellow vibe included tickers and families alike. Stellar beers. |
60 /100 Melt Bar & Grilled (Restaurant) 14718 DETROIT AVENUE Lunch stop enroute from Buffalo to Grand Rapids. The Ohio Grand Rapids. Metered street parking that can be challenging to find, but head up the street past Cleveland Clinic and parking is free. Or park in their lot and have your appendix removed. Once you enter, the place looks like a two room former store front, bar on the right, and the rest of the space has restaurant tables. Service was prompt and friendly. Ten taps, around half from Ohio with a smattering from Indiana (3 Floyds) and other nearby states. Food menu is vast, including about every variant of grilled cheese you can imagine. But about half the menu is salads, sandwiches, even pierogi. Pricey. Only if passing by anyway. |
80 /100 2585 S LEWIS WAY SUITE 110 Sitting in a mall area, Green Mountain Brewing is in a nice building. Bar seating, tables, and patio are available. Beers and t-shirts to go. 16 beers on tap. One bartender for a medium size crown. Dim lighting, but big windows here. Pop 80’s on radio. Nice place to visit! Cheers! |
78 /100 2072 STONEMAN CIRCLE For some reason, I always think these "big" breweries will have huge taprooms. Not the case here ( I'm in the Empty Pint). Small and cozy, mountain lodge look and feel. Small crowd on a Weds evening. Good service and a few tap list finds (they keep a few flagships on all the time). I could do without the country music though. Watch out for the deer on the way in! |
82 /100 1790 SWARTHMORE AVE UNIT 3, LOT 2 Just realized I'd never rated Icarus on places, so here we go. They have a nice little tap room in an industrial area. Not too large, but it can hold a few people. Decent outside setup now too, not great, but as good as they could do with what they have to work with.
Ton's of beer is usually on here, covering many of the styles (though certainly focused on IPAs and Stouts), and they've been making great stuff lately. Been really upping their lager game lately, and they've had barley wines, saisons, and other styles roll through too. Usually have at least one kettle sour from their Drinking X for some meal series these days too. Additionally, I believe they usually have on slushies and other stuff like that if that's your thing.
They've announced a now spot that should eventually replace this one, but we all know how long that kind of move takes, so I'm guessing they'll stay here for a while. |
80 /100 2585 S LEWIS WAY SUITE 110 Swung by on a Monday during late-COVID times. Beer was generally good to excellent. Nice diversity of styles (everything from a maibock to a whiskey barrel aged quad, which was spectacular), interesting adjuncts, everything decent to spot-on.
It's in a strip mall but nice spacious location and tons of outdoor seating. Worth the trip to the middle of suburbian nowhere. |
78 /100 Rozi’s Wine & Liquor House (Beer Store) 14900 DETROIT AVENUE Parking was somewhat challenging here. Service was good. Medium size selection of beer in the back right. Growler bar front right. Good selection, but nothing super rare. It was worth the trip across town for me. Most pricing seemed reasonable. Pricing on some Schramms meads seemed high. |
76 /100 1057 S WADSWORTH BLVD. SUITE 60 It feels like Lakewood in here, complete with the guy slogging through 70s classic rock covers in the corner. Things were not very busy on my visit and there was no problem getting a beer. The tap list was pretty safe with a couple IPAs, a pale ale, brown ale, lager, etc. Beer seemed solid. Most pints were only $5 + tax which is on the low end for breweries around the parts. I suppose if I was living within walking distance to here that I'd stop in on occasion. |
76 /100 Two Angels Liquors (Beer Store) 2589 SOUTH LEWIS WAY Just visited for the first time today - the closest analog I can make is that the shopping experience is much like crate digging at an old record store - first of all, with the exception of a dedicated cooler for all the imports, nothing is organized - you can find a four pack from a brewery in one cooler and then a different four pack from the same brewery three cooler doors down - it makes shopping here a little disorienting - but then there is a bomber and singles cooler, as well as a few boxes of random bottles (also not organized, without prices) by the register - these areas are what make this place interesting (and like crate diving at a record store) - I’m not sure where they’re getting some of their stuff, but there are some interesting finds - today I found some bottles of Gale’s Prize Old Ale from 1997 (nineteen ninety fucking seven!), some other fairly aged British imports, and a beer from River North I’d never seen anywhere else - it’s not an essential place, or a place I’ll make a regular stop, but I’ll come back periodically just to see what random stuff shows up in the mix - props to the Sikh gentleman running the place who seems to know his stuff. |
100 /100 Simone’s Beverage (Beer Store) 18414 DETROIT AVE Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good selection for both liquor and beer. I’d defiantly recommend this place to someone. |
56 /100 1057 S WADSWORTH BLVD. SUITE 60 Nice well lit taproom with ok service. Around 7 beers on tap. Beer is pricey and taxes are added on. AHA discount on merch only which is really dumb. Better places to go. |
76 /100 3225 S WADSWORTH BLVD Low-gravity ale focused brewery located near Wads and 285. Long bar with ample stools, several tables and a small patio. Solid selection of beer which has been getting better with each visit. Trending in the right direction and worth checking out of you're in the area. |
70 /100 2010 S OAK STREET Pleasant ambiance and friendly service for a selection of 10-11 beers. Several GR options and one GF. The beers are just OK, pretty straightforward lineup at fair prices. |
68 /100 Sheridan Fine Wine & Spirits (Beer Store) 65 SHERIDAN BLVD Pretty meh ambiance with friendly counter service and a decent selection of beer, better than most in this general area. |
100 /100 Simone’s Beverage (Beer Store) 18414 DETROIT AVE Would definitely recommend for all beer lovers!! They have one of the best selections of beers in the area and the employees are knowledgeable and helpful. If you don’t want to buy a whole six or twelve pack of beer you can try individual bottles by mixing your six pack. |
82 /100 7260 W ALASKA DR Crazy Mountain took over the old World of Beer space and the interior is remarkably unchanged. I think maybe a few signs got swapped out at most. They still close several hours before their posted hours on the regular, deterring me from wasting my time trying to visit in the evening. There's just not that many craft beer bars out this way and with their rotating guest list, Crazy Mountain probably has the best selection in a few mile radius, though World of Beer definitely had a better, broader selection. If you choose anything beyond a Crazy Mountain beer, your tab can get big pretty quick, but the happy hour is a killer deal on the core lineup. |
60 /100 7260 W ALASKA DR This place used to be a World of Beer, and as many of those places often do, it went out of business - Crazy Mountain moved in and literally changed nothing but the sign outside - not even the name of the wifi connection - beers are about 50% their own product and the rest mostly regional stuff - nothing's ever excited me here - it's never particularly busy, and service is so-so - no food - some bottles available, but again nothing much - a lot of people come in and don't even drink the beer - they get shots of cheap booze, instead - a coin-operated breathalyzer plugged into the wall just screams class - Belmar deserves a far better beer bar than this. |
82 /100 2585 S LEWIS WAY SUITE 110 Pleasant ambiance, good tunes and awesome service for a solid selection of beer. Most recently, they had 11 beers going for $5-8. Rum BA Porter, ESB, BIPA, Dark Belgian, Pils, Smoked Marzen, APA, IPA, Cognac BA Quad, Stout, BA Grand Cru. Their beers are some of the best in Lakewood, although there is not a lot of competition. |
72 /100 2585 S LEWIS WAY SUITE 110 Large strip mall brewery in deeply suburban western Lakewood - super inviting and friendly, albeit with ambiance about as generic as a small neighborhood brewery can have - large range of styles on tap, from lager to imperial stout - they get props for their flagship brew being a rauchbier - competent Brewing - fair prices - dog and kid friendly - a so-so spot, but decently fun to hang out. |
70 /100 Yard House - Lakewood (Restaurant) 14500 W COLFAX AVE, STE 341 Located on the east side of Colorado Mills. Large restaurant and tap house with tons of beers. Pretty standard stuff for the most part, with a few exceptions. Friendly service and decent ambiance. The food is pretty darn good, but can be a little pricy. Solid place to grab a bite and a beer in Lakewood. |
74 /100 7260 W ALASKA DR Belmar location that used to be a World of Beer. Pleasant ambiance and good service at the bar. $3 happy hour pints for their standard lineup as well as several selections from the Local's Stash. The beer here is just OK, but there's not much else in the area (besides Mile High Wine & Spirits). |
78 /100 1790 SWARTHMORE AVE UNIT 3, LOT 2 Industrial area. Packed with locals. Beers were serviceable. Food truck nearby was clutch. |
76 /100 15315 MADISON AVENUE Interesting. Yeah its decent and all, but it has a chainy feel to it. Lots of outside and inside seating; large bar. Taplist on screens, "powered by untappd." Extensive bar menu available, loads of burger choices. Beers all available in multiple sizes starting at 4 oz taster pours. Service friendly, not hugely efficient. Only three Buckeye beers on tap, but the 27 guest beers kept things moving along. Well worth a visit. |
68 /100 6733 W COLFAX AVE I’ve got to start trying more of these farther west side breweries, as I’ll be moving over here shortly - anyway, this place really is right next door to Casa Bonita - I almost missed it because I didn’t think to look there - ambience is fine enough - comfortable, but nothing that sets it apart or makes it memorable - style assortment was nice, but heavy on the adjunct-laden beers, at least for my taste - service is fine - beer quality is ho-hum - not quite flawed, just lacking balance, complexity, and nuance - I’d give this place a ’C’ - hopefully I find better west side alternatives. |
82 /100 Two Angels Liquors (Beer Store) 2589 SOUTH LEWIS WAY Located right across from Green Mountain Beer Company. Typical ambiance and friendly service. Pretty nice selection of bombers and specialty beers by the counter. BA Abyss, FF Eclipse, vintage Avery, Aventinus, FW boxes, JW Lees, vintage imports, etc. Some diamonds in the rough, for sure. Worth a glance if you’re in the area or heading to GMBC. Update: Recently found a 2001 JW Lees Harvest Ale here! |
82 /100 16-Bit Bar+Arcade (Bar) 15012 DETROIT AVE Visited on 4-1-17.
This place is great if you love video games and craft beer. We went on a Saturday afternoon before the place started to fill up. All of the video games are free, pinball is 50 cents a game. They have a great selection if the gamed going back to the classics like PacMan, Ms Pacman, Tron, Mario Bros, Tapper, etc.
Beer selection was decent with 40 taps and a nice array of cans, bottles and mixed drinks. No, you’re not gonna slay whales but they did have a decent collection, especially mixing in the local flavors too.
Fun place, Decent beer, reasonable prices pints...definitely my jam.
Have your ID and don’t bring your kids. |
78 /100 1790 SWARTHMORE AVE UNIT 3, LOT 2 Visited Icarus today to (re) complete my ongoing visit to every NJ brewery & brewpub (4th time I’m "done" but this will change again in a month or so with more openings). Arrived 12:30 right after the daylight savings time change...so beat the crowds early on a Sunday...lol! Looks just like your average industrial park warehouse brewery from the outside...but there are surprises inside. There is a nice front taproom...with bar and tables...but then another bar area out in the brewery. The brewery has something like 20ft ceilings and the space is impressive. There is a very large mural on one wall...a great Icarus themed rendering. They have an oversized 10 bbl brew deck along with two 10 bbl and two 20 bbl fermenters. The crew here is great...especially Josh...bartender and artist for the brewery. I was also fortunate to have met and spent time talking to the owner Jason. He gave me the cook’s tour and a lot of insight to his history and plans for the brewery (spent time brewing in England and at Rinn Duin among other places). As for the beers...loved the Ella Ella IPA featuring the namesake hops plus Cascade. Also notable was the Birdie Scotch Ale and the Sunwalker Smoked Pilsner. I enjoyed the Panic Pale Ale on Randall with mango & habanero. I would be remiss if I didn’t also mention the Old Fashion soda they made from whiskey barrel water...with orange and cherry flavors (like and Old Fashioned)...original...and a very nice novelty. They’ve been open 2 month now and I expect very good things from them going forward. Just spend a little time talking to Jason and you will quickly agree. (Sure hoping Ed5388 updates his review very soon since they took care of him...that "24" rating is really hurting the score of this really great new brewery) |
74 /100 1790 SWARTHMORE AVE UNIT 3, LOT 2 Neat place that has a front tap room and a brewery tap room creating two individual experances. Good selection for a new brewery and some really good solid beers. They can only get better. |
70 /100 6733 W COLFAX AVE Typical sized well lit tap room with a small bar at the back. Why do people put in such small bars? Most people in know prefer to sit at the bar. Service is decent but can be a bit slow at times. They have around 10 beers on tap all fairly reasonably priced. Ok place to stop especially if you have to go to the amusment park called Casa Bonita aka the Alpo Palace. |
78 /100 6733 W COLFAX AVE Not too hard to find if you know where Casa Bonita is. The ambiance is fine, the service is good and they have a decent beer selection that has been improving over time. 4-5 regulars plus around 6 rotators/seasonals. The regulars are OK but they usually have a nice offering on rotation. Worth checking out if you’re on the west side. |
80 /100 1790 SWARTHMORE AVE UNIT 3, LOT 2 Brewery has a nice chill atmosphere. Great artwork on some of the walls. Lots of beers on tap (recently added more taps). 14 beers total including some randalled versions. Every beer I’ve had so far was solid. Nice staff and friendly dog at the bar. Met the owner Jason who is a really nice guy and cares a lot about his customers. Glad I revisited and got to try more of their offerings this time around. A brewery defenitly worth checking out. |
92 /100 15315 MADISON AVENUE LOVED this place! Comfy ambiance. Large bar, small tables, wood paneling, beer swag everywhere. It’s like your neighbor’s basement bar you’re envious of. Not a huge draft list, but what is there is quality. Six house beers, generally very well executed (one was kinda meh, which is its name, in fact). 20ish guest taps. Some regulars anyone can appreciate, lots of locals, several rarities. All beers available in sample size pours. Food was tasty. Ryan C the bartender was exceptional. Prices good. If I were a local, this would be my regular hangout. Highly recommended. |
82 /100 Mile High Wine and Spirits (Beer Store) 435 S VANCE ST Had a pretty massive selection, but got the notion much wzs due to GABF time. Curious what it is like at other times. |
56 /100 Foothills Discount Liquor (Beer Store) 13079 W ALAMEDA PKWY Average liquor store vibe and feel, but always like to check them out and see if they have local brews. Nice mix of local craft and a few "big" bottles. Worth checking out if you’re near there. |
50 /100 Green Mountan Liquors (Beer Store) 12611 W ALAMEDA PARKWAY Typical liquor store, small craft selection, but service was great, bubble wrapped bottles in box. Nice touch! |
78 /100 15315 MADISON AVENUE Typical bar atmosphere. Good looked good and prices were ok but I didn’t eat. Bartender was fantastic. Only 5 beers of their own but the rest of the tap list was fantastic with a good selection of rare and interesting beers. Great place. |
50 /100 2010 S OAK STREET Small suburban tap room serving the core Anglo-American craft styles and excelling at none of them. Places like this confuse me. The standalone building has the design of a suburban shopping center (29th St. mall?), and the recipes probably come from a book published 20 years ago. |
72 /100 15315 MADISON AVENUE I stopped in on July 4th, it was the only place i could find open and it was packed. Not sure if it always is, but seemed like a popular place, lots of nice things to be tried. |
80 /100 15315 MADISON AVENUE Stopped in at lunch time midweek just to sample their own beers, which were pretty good. There was s nice selection of other beers on tap snd in bottles. Food looked good too. |
86 /100 2072 STONEMAN CIRCLE Great ambiance. The outdoor biergarten looked spectacular. Beer selection was a little light for what I was hoping to find, but I can’t have stouts all year. Didn’t eat, but overall, this place was pretty awesome |
92 /100 2072 STONEMAN CIRCLE Quaint, great biergarten, great service and prices. |
52 /100 Union Wine & Spirits (Beer Store) 295 S UNION BLVD. Closest liquor store to my hotel. Small selection of bombers at all price ranges, Colorado laws limit sales of singles. Much more to choose from in case and six pack, if you want to go that route. Heavy selection of local brews. |
72 /100 Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom - Lakewood (Union) (Restaurant) 145 UNION BLVD, STE 101 Nothing too much different from this chain restaurant. Rotating beer menu always yields something interesting, as well as a focus on local brews. Pizza’s not too shabby either. |
66 /100 Westrail Tap & Grill (Restaurant) 195 S UNION AVE. On the strip right outside the Federal Center, convenient to hotels. Some local brews and the normal array of macro brews. Regular pub fare, good service. |
66 /100 2072 STONEMAN CIRCLE Beautiful facility and tasting room with a really nice heated patio .... a bit too small for the demand! ... had an apparel area, bar/food ordering and lots of small stand up tables and tables along the walls .... they have an outdoor venue as well .... didn’t have any grub ... they had a nice mix of season brews and standard bearers .... definitely a must hit if your in the area and want some swag and want to see some live music |
92 /100 Simone’s Beverage (Beer Store) 18414 DETROIT AVE Great shop with helpful staff. When they get good/rare beer offerings in they keep it to one per person to give everybody a chance to try things. Ridiculous selection of styles - you’ll definitely find something nice to take home. |
