“Stopped off here for a Mornin’ Delight tap event on 8/19/17. Very cool place with a cool "safe house" theme. Pretty good draft list, from what I could tell (not very familiar with Iowa offerings). Now let’s get on to the main reason I felt compelled to leave this review, my first "place" review in quite a while. The service my girlfriend and I received the entire time there was awe-inspiring. Nick, his wife and the other young lady working were so incredibly gracious and went out of their way to take care of us, despite the place being a madhouse. We received the kind of service at Safe House Saloon that we only get at places where we’re regulars. Pretty impressive, seeing as this was our first visit and we’re out-of-towners. Aside from being very nice, they stopped by our booth numerous times and brought us pours and waters when we needed them. May not sound like much, but if you could have seen the crowd in this place, you’d understand what a feat this was. They filled my girlfriend’s water bottle before we left and even let me purchase some Pseudo Sue cans (that were not on the shelf for purchase; originally planned for on-site consumption only) to help fulfill a request from a good friend back home. It’s a week later and I’m still amazed at how fantastic Nick and his crew were. If I ever find myself in that part of the country again, Safe House Saloon will be my #1 must-stop, special tapping or no.“

“Quick stop on the way home from a TG run. This is your typical small down midwest bar from the outside. The front door really is a safe door, which is interesting. Inside its again typical midwest bar motif, complete with the barrel of peanuts and shells littering the floor. Then you see the beer list and realize its a step up. They had three TG beers and one Pulpit Rock on tap, plus a scattering of other midwest craft. Pretty solid list. They also have a small but well curated selection of bottles. Loads of Jester King on hand, which I guess they just got a few weeks ago. They are also one of the bars getting a keg of Morning Delight for the upcoming release day, and they still had a ton of tickets left for pours as of a week before the event. I would not exactly call it an undiscovered gem, but it is a good place to go looking for interesting stuff, particularly from TG, if Decorah is just too crazy. They did have food, pizza and the like, but we did not partake.“
