72 /100 717 WEST MAIN STREET
“On the main street of a town that is drastically less touristy than nearby Deadwood. Mines dominate everything in Lead, and the open gold mine alone is worth seeing. This place is near the top of the hill at the west end of the town. There is street parking, but there are also two public parking areas within walking distance. Across the street from a sign that marks 5280 feet above sea level, and this also gives its name to their pale ale. Inside is small, dominated by a long bar, restaurant tables and a popcorn machine. Nice but small deck out back, and even seating outside on the ground floor where the brewhouse is. Seven beers when I visited, offered in one big flight that I think was eight bucks or so. Beers were solid but not overly exciting. They did have a pale ale with their own home grown hops that was interesting. They do crowlers and growlers. No food beyond the popcorn. Very friendly and entertaining husband and wife tam, wife does the brewing. Friendly locals also. Worth a stop.“
