“Visited last night, with party of four for dinner. Limited number of tables, but the space is comfortable and there was live music (Irish one night per week). There is an outdoor dining area. Food was nothing special in quality but modest priced. 16 varied draft offerings, and an 8 page bottle list covering a wide range of styles.“

“This is definitely out in rural Maine. You need to take a few winding back roads to find this place, which is located in a modest building on a wooded lot with a dirt driveway. The barrels are right there in the tasting room. Or you can sit outside on a picnic table. You can get a flight of five for $9 plus tax. They bottle some of their beer. There are growlers in 64 oz. and 32 oz. The owner/brewer will be happy to talk about his beer. I enjoyed my visit.“

“Visited on a quiet, rainy Monday night which totally suited my mood on the day. They had 20 on tap and a few hundred in the bottle and gave a discount for home consumption. (In fact I think the 20% off if you buy four bombers was a very good deal.) They had a solid selection of local offerings as well as things like Half Acre and Cascade Kriek that you don’t see everyday. I found the bartender quite cordial as well as very knowledgeable about beer. I’d love to have a place like this in my backyard.“

“The beer selection here kind of comes and goes. On one visit, you can find a huge selection of locals and other micros. But on the very next visit, they really don’t have anything too exciting. I guess it’s all about inventory and availability. The food is decent, with the wings being the best pub-grub selection. The music can get way too loud at times. So loud that you literally cannot hold a conversation with the person across the table from you. The service, though, is always very good, attentive and extremely friendly.“

“While the selection is very good, it is overpriced. The service is not the greatest as it seems the "regulars" get all the attention. It’s almost as if it’s a private social club. Great beer, good food, prices high for the suburbs, and service is lacking!“

“Good draft selection (10 or so taps) and an extensive bottle list. Quite impressive actually. Service and atmosphere is kind of lousy. I did not have kids with me, but they are definitely not kid friendly. Just a heads up. Go for the bottle list...ignore the bad service.“

“It took me a long time to actually sit at this bar since it always looks so busy. The ambiance is very nice. It was a Tuesday afternoon so there was not a ton of people but the lights were dim but bright enough to see. There was a chill grateful dead convo going on by a group of guys. The service was really good. The bartender was really nice and even looked me up on rate beer to check out my ratings. Selection is pretty much tops for a bar. 350 bottles plus some really high end taps. I had the funky mussels and they were the best i’ve ever had. Big and flavorful. Prices were what you’d expect from a place like this but the value of enjoyment was very high.“

“Wow - a hidden gem in this area. Great tap selection and incredible bottle list available to go. Food is tasty. All is great but the prices are not cheap and they do not have a happy hour discount at any time.“

“Nice beer bar...no liquor. Dark and warm atmosphere...seemed quiet. Decent tap selection though I suspect it is at times great. Outsttanding bottle selection with very good pricing. Food is affordable and pretty darn good. I like this place! Wish it was closer. Service was friendly and fast.“

“This is a pretty average place. They moved to a bigger building and have not had prices on their beers for awhile. Makes shopping hard when you don’t know what something costs.“

“I had driven two hours to get to this place and now I’m well aware that I’d gladly drive a bit further for this experience. On arrival I was greeted by Sara the bartender/front of the house specialist. She was warm, engaging, knowledgeable and hospitable. I was there for lunch on a Tuesday, so no crowds to speak of, just an easy going beer friendly few. I had the parsnip and hazelnut puree soup which was fantastic! Also had the radicchio salad that was just good. I selected a Port Brewing Mongo as my lunch companion and it was presented in a beautiful flared tulip. Huge bonus: you can carry out 99.9 percent of everything on the vast and comprehensive beer menu. The owner even came out to look for a couple beers that I did not see in the case. Great value here on the food and especially the beer. These people aren’t looking to become millionaires, just looking to spread the goodness around. Awesome place.“

“Holy cow does this place rule. Not a huge draft selection but what they do have is very nice with tons of variety. Everything is served in proper glassware and there is food available although I did not eat there. The bottle selection is staggering for the area. Lots of options and you can buy them to go. In a state where most beer sales are by the case this is a great option!“

“Another new beer bar that is doing it right. Was bummed when I got there on Sunday and it was closed but had a nice lunch and beer experience on Monday. The owners seem to be doing everything right despite facing a new and popular bar. Congrts, this is a greet place“

“Decent distributor. You can see the brands they offer above. Nothing special, but if you’re looking for a reasonably priced local case for the night, probably won’t be bad to check out“

“The beer selection is excellent but the food selection is slim. Normally the food selection would be okay except that they make it the way they want to make it and are opposed to things as basic as asking for a rare steak (they make it "medium rare"...that is all). Wait staff is very pleasant though it seems like they are intimidated by the kitchen, which quite frankly sucks. My recommendation, drive the extra distance to go to downtown Phoenixville. If you really love the beer selection then drive the extra distance to go to Union Jack’s near Oley.“

“This a great beer place. Food is exceptional and the prices are reasonable. Tap list is to notch and bottle list impressive. Prices on bottles are a bit high, but this is a nice place and worth visiting often.“

“For as long as I lived in the area, I had never been to Epps. I finally got the chance this past weekend. The thing I enjoyed the most about this store was the service. The woman behind the counter was extrememly friendly and nice, and even offered my little girl a lollypop! It may not seem like a huge gesture, but a lot of times, it’s the little things that you really learn to take notice of and appreicate. The selection was quite extensive, with all of our PA locals represented, along with some varied choices from outside the area. Epps also has quite a few imports from Europe, namely some beers that you may have a hard time finding at other beer stores. The look and feel of the place doesn’t rate all that high because this is just another ’cookie-cutter’ style of beer stores here in PA. It’s simply a huge open warehouse-style store with all the cases stacked on the floor. The prices were pretty-well inline with most other stores in the area as well. I should definitely make it a point to head on back here in the future!“

“Stopped by for an early dinner on a Saturday night (got in right before it started to really get crowded). Is a small place. Menu was good, but rather limited. Not exactly family friendly, but they did have chicken tenders kid meal. Quality of food was very good - I had the burger and my wife has the scallops. Service was very good. Beer selection was great. Had about a dozen or so nice ones on taps and well over 100 bottles (to be enjoyed there or to take home). Will definitely hit this place again.“

“Nice looking, wood-filled bar. Good service. Nice selection of draughts and bottles. Reasonable prices, except for charges for bread and romulade. Burgers were great! Muscles are very good too.“

“The Craft Ale House has been around for 6 months now and the place keeps getting better and better. The owners Gary & Melissa are beer veterans and seem dedicated to making the CAH a great beer spot. They have brought in some great beers. The food is all made from scratch unlike many place in the suburbs. The burgers, Pork sandwich, chicken pot pie, chicken tenders are great. The fries are good but they seem to over salt a few things/sauces on the menu. My wife and I both love their soups. The bartenders are knowledgable and waiters & waitresses provide adequate explanations of the beers. The coolers hold a very nice selection of bottled beer. The bottle prices are a bit high for this part of Mont Co. but they do have the best beer bar in the area and can justify the prices. The tap selection is nice but perhaps a too local centric with the choices. However, with beers like Pliny the Elder and Younger, Blind Pig. Ballast Point Victory at Sea, Sculpin, Dorado, Navigator I can handle some PBC and Victory. “

“Stopped in to pick up a six pack - you can actually make your own assorted variety - a great option, especially in a state with archaic beer laws. Decent bottle and tap selection with a good looking menu. They do growlers as well. I’ll have to have a meal here and re-rate in the future.“

“This place could definitely become a regular stop for me. What a selection of beer on draft the night I was there. For a small example, they were offering Old Rasputin Impy Stout, Twin Lakes Pale Ale, Stoudts’ Double IPA and Founders Centenial IPA. Plus they had about ten or so other selections. The only bad thing I can say about the Craft Ale House is the lack of selection on the food menu. They had some nice appetizers, a few selections of mussels, a burger, pork sandwich and a few higher end entrees. But that was about it. Not a whole lot of food selection. But the burger and pork sandwich were quite delicious, though. The artisan cheese tray was quite nice, as well. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The service was pretty good, especially for a very busy Friday night. They told us it was going to be about a half-hour wait, but it was only about 20 minutes. The servers didn’t try and rush you to eat and get out, like at a lot of other places. The atmosphere was of a smallish pub,“

“Stopped by on a Monday around 2pm....needless to say, not busy. Smaller inside. 5 people at the bar. Nice selection of beer (one, if I were a little closer, I would come for more often). They offer free, small samples, of anything, which is very nice. Only complaint, is I had to ask for my water 4 times. 1st time, he must of forgot. Second time, I watched him fill a glass up and then drink it himself. 3rd time, he filled up a glass and gave it to the lady next to me. 4th time, he got it right...I guess he really didn’t care about me! Other than taking a while and repeatedly asking for a water with my beer, the service was good. I’ll probably stop by here again and update... Update...much better serive this time around! Ordered food too. Limited menu, but the fish and chips were good.“

“Very nice place. The interior is cozy, nicely decorated, but a bit small, with a 12 seater bar and roughly 50 person seated dining capacity. The food is out of this world. The burgers melt in your mouth, the homemade seasoned fries are the best I have ever had, the pierogies are astounding, and the soups are great. Everything my wife and I have eaten here has been spot on. The tap selection is 16 strong, and includes a lot of great local stuff, relative rarities like Pliny the Elder, and a smattering of Belgian and dark beers. There are always two or three solid IPAs, 2 or 3 solid Belgians, and 2 or 3 solid stouts on. Service has ranged from initially slow to much better lately. Value is above average, and the takeout beer coolers are stocked with a great deal of awesome stuff. Gary (the owner) has been around the beer business for most of his life, and it shows in this place. I highly recommend Craft Ale House to anyone. You will not be disappointed.“

“I love this place! I stopped in 5 or 6 times for a quick pint or 2 on my way home from work . I find that if I exit 422 at Sanatoga and go about a mile and a half out of my way,it’s right on the way home! The place is very cozy and attractive. A great beer selection that includes a fair share of local breweries, but not what one might expect from them. Victory , you get St. Victorious and Old Horizontal, not Hop Devil. Sly Fox’s Oddessy and PBC’s Kenzinger just to name a few. The place has a nice T.V. behind the bar,but really I think the place is going for more of a friendly conversation between customers than getting blasted with 20 televisions. The times iI was there people were talking beer amongst each other wether they were friends before or not.The Craft Ale House is a more than welcome addition to the area and really is a destination spot for lovers of quality beers and food. I did have the Buttermilk Tendres and fries and they were awesome. I may have to become a regular.“

“A welcome addition to the Eastern PA beer scene! I struggled between entering this as a bar or restaurant and went with a bar since the Craft Beer is the focus at this place. Went on a Saturday for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. They really did a great job with the inside of this place. Dark woods, fireplace, sofas to chill on, maybe 10 or more tables to seat people who want a meal. Bar is medium size with a decent size TV and 15 beers on tap (one was on nitro). They have two large coolers filled with beer to go. Prices on beer and food seemed reasonable. $4 to $5 for most beers on tap. The higher ABV/rare beers they served in 10 oz glasses but in that same $4 to $5 price range. They had Pliny the Elder on, which has become more common in Easter PA over the past few months but was still nice to see. The staff was very friendly. The bartender is a homebrewer and seemed to know his stuff. Everyone else at the bar was talking either homebrewing or craft beer. Someone mentioned they o“

“Excellent distributer with a very nice selection of micros and imports. Owners went out of their way to help. They even accepted two cases of returnables of a beer that they don’t stock and insisted on reimbursing the deposit to me. Their genuine and incomparable friendliness was truly a breath of fresh air. They’ve earned a longtime customer in me.“

“This is a family owned and operated business that has been around for a long time. They have a very good selection of case beer here, and it seems to get better all the time. They have the macros, and they have a huge selection of imports, Belgians, and local micros. Victory, DFH, Magic Hat, Stoudt’s, Penn, Lancaster, FFF, Wild Goose, Yard’s, Flying Fish, Dominion, Ommegang, Allagash, Stone, a nice Belgian and lambic selection, and decent prices. Worth a trip if you are in the area.“
