74 /100 Sawley Junction (Bar) 176-178 TAMWORTH ROAD This was a welcome surprise. I didn't even know this place was here until I passed it! Sawley Junction is a very quick walk from the train station, which is itself quite a ways out of town. It's a reasonable size but by no means huge for a micropub, very plain but comfortable inside. The five cask and five keg aren't the most adventurous of beers, but neither are bog standard. ABK, Thornbridge, Black Iris, Littleover. A few BrewDog staples in the fridge but otherwise all the good stuff is on tap. Prices are certainly reasonable. Recommended. |
64 /100 Twichel Inn (JDW) (Bar) HOWITT STREET A back street Wetherspoons given it is on a small street off and at the back of the main pedestrian street in Long Eaton. The town is small and so is this pub in the chain. It’s open plan but there are defined areas either side of the door and at the back. Central to all is a marvelous stained glass v shaped skylight. The bar is small but has two rows of ale pumps, not all stocked though. |
