“Waitrose's own farm shop, and as such the car park was dominated by Range Rovers. It was smaller inside than we'd expected. The stock was a curious mix of local produce, and stuff you might see in an average Waitrose. There were 20ish beers & ciders - Flowerpots, Andwell, Adnams and Purbeck Cider's Forgotten Orchard range. Prices for the beer were average, everything else was on the pricey side. Probably not worth the trip for most Ratebeerians, unless (like us) you want to assuage your curiosity as to what a Waitrose farm shop looks like.“

“Penton Park brewery informed me that their beers were available here so I used it as a lunch stop. When I took a look at the website I was surprised that it was Waitrose branded. The cafe, shop and nursery are situated on Waitrose's own farm estate. After driving down some tiny lanes and very long drive finally arrived at a modern wood clad building and throngs of OAPs. I'd been warned that stock was low so was happy to find that three Penton Park beers were in stock, as well as beers from Test, Red Cat, Two Cocks Small Beer, Flack Manor and Wadworth (possible a couple more). There were also ciders from various Hampshire cideries and at least one mead. My wife was happy with the chocolate but thought the gin was expensive. There was only the one Waitrose own brand on sale, an organic cider (apples grown there perhaps)? Food also went down well - although my plowman's clearly included Waitrose products. Staff all seemed to be over 60 and friendly (even if one had to explain to me that he was Mutt and Jeff). In summary: it's a Waitrose owned farm shop and cafe and that kinda sums up how it presents itself - nicely middleclass. But was definitely a good choice for a lunch stop and we were all happy and I got to pick up 8 ticks plus the low ABV beer I had with my lunch.“
