“Fantastic micro pub, great selection on cask (6 lines), keg (4 lines) and a great range of cans in the fridges, cider section is pretty big too with loads of options in BIB. Atmosphere is nice a chilled, so you can go relax and enjoy a good beer. I'd highly recommend it.“

“Small local freehouse. Good selection of local real ales and ciders. Friendly service. One bar room (where the ales are) and a pooltable room where the industrial beers dominate. Rather busy for a Wednesday afternoon in January.“

“Just a local shop for local people asian spices etc but randomly stocked with good beer, not always the same but over the few months ive been here ive had kernel,beavertown,cloudwater ,five points just to name a few !!! good prices too“

“I go to Maidstone a few times a year for work but this is the only pub I’ve been in to. Would agree with their reviews that this is quite a grad setting, but otherwise I was unimpressed. Downstairs is rather a large room and it somewhat library like on a weekday lunchtime. Found the place a but depressing - sad looking clientele and an air of former glories. Decent enough beer selection. Polite enough staff. Should really check out some other (Goachers) pubs but tend to head back into London for some craft action instead.“

“Large Wetherspoons in a modern style building which used to be a local newspaper printing works. It is in a pedestrianised area and found within the town centre. Relatively efficient service in here, there seemed to be a lot of patrolling by staff, on the look out for something going on I suppose, but it did mean that the tables got cleared pretty quickly. The beer range is mostly local Kent breweries, which is fine.“

“15th Century building that used to be the lodgings to the Abbey stabling yard, pretty much intact despite centuries of use. The building is fascinating with low beams, wooden floors, a mish-mash of furniture. The beers are largely from Kentish micro’s, but some from further afield, there are a couple of unusual kegs and a small bottle choice. No food to speak of. The craik is ever present and visitors are urged to join in. There is a small, shady garden plus a meeting room upstairs. A must visit in Maidstone.“

“Corner community local a short walk out of Maidstone centre. Extremely quiet on my visit, to the point that for the first 10 minutes I was the only one in there, including staff. Just 3 options on the pumps and just one winner for me. Wooden floors, varied furniture, a proper local, but deathly hushed.“

“This is rather a grand Wetherspoons in the centre of Maidstone. The building is rather spectacular and obviously has an important past, I wonder what they would make of it’s current use when they built it. The upstairs room is particularly pleasant, rather like a stately home reading room. There are bars both downstairs and up, but the choice is mostly downstairs. There was a pleasant buzz of conversation in the ’reading room’. Clean with efficient service, a upper echelon Spoons.“

“We visited here on Thursday 6th December 2014, we had parked and stayed in the camper up by the Flower Pot pub. It was quite a turn up ending up at this JDW as we were expecting to chance upon the Muggleton another JDW in town, in fact we were unaware that there were two JDW’s. This was a very large pub occupying a corner slot of a relatively modern building, it was pitch black but I am sure that this building wouldn’t hold that much historical interest. Huge windows along the front and partially along one side provide lots of light (in daytime hours of course) and give this a more cafe feel about it. You enter via a corner and whilst I didn’t do the full tour I could tell it was a pretty big JDW. The large bar runs a good length of one wall. There were a number of naff Xmas inspired beers; I guess I chose one by having Lancaster Brewhouse Rum & Raisin with my burger and chips, but it was served in superb nick, bit cold otherwuse really great condition, Loz had Lagunitas IPA. It was quite busy this evening with a number of Maidstone Utd fans in good spirits. We sat by the raised area near the large windows. Staff were excellent, really friendly and helpfully pointing out that I had ordered things with my meal that came with it, and because Loz ordered a beer that didn’t come free they gave us a bottle of water anyway. This was a decent JDW, food fine (typical JDW fare) but good atmosphere and great staff.“

“We visited here on Thursday 4th December 2014 on a brief one night stopover prior to a w/e in Brugge. We were able to park/wild camp just around the corner from the pub which was handy. The pub is on a corner & sits across from a Shell garage which itself is on the A229 though the pub is situated on a far quieter road that runs parallel with the A229, it also sits just across from Maidstone Utd football ground something I noted as there were a number of their fans in as they had a game this evening. There are two doors very close to each other (on same side) I guess they would have been to separate bar & lounge rooms years ago. The rear of the pub had a lovely roaring open fire & was busy with locals & football fans chatting, the front of the pub was a little quieter & we sat down here. Beer and cider choice is displayed on small TV type monitors there were five to six beers & three ciders showing with Maidstone, Kent & Salopian amongst the breweries on offer. The sole bar person was friendly, chatty & worked very hard keeping everyone happy. We had a Salopian - The Bends (Loz) & a Maidstone - MBC-5 (me) both in great nick. It really was a lovely little busy backstreet pub, the sort of place you would delight in having as your local. It is about a 7-10 mins (maybe less) walk from the centre of town & on the corner of a street that has a number of Chinese & Indian takeaways as well as other fast food outlets, one other pub The Dragoon (Shepherd Neame) is just a short walk away though we never ventured into here. Back to The Flower Pot, it is a really decent pub and whilst it’s range may be a little safer than some of the new craft kids on the block it is still very good with the likes of Oakham also sat in the cellar. This is the sort of place where conversation rules, an example being a chap near us late fifties perhaps who seemed to be boring his friend rigid with his time goals for marathon running. It was much quieter when we came back here later in the evening after venturing into town to get something to eat (no meals in pub, only pork pies etc). A very, very good pub.“

“A large twin-floored Wetherspoon on the High Street that is in a grand building that used to be the Carlton Cafe, of which there is a 1920 picture by the fireplace on the right after you walk in. The main bar area is just beyond this area which has the lion share of the cask pumps over two rows, but there’s a few repeated on the smaller bar in the grand front facing room upstairs. There’s an area here where you can look down on the ground floor action and at the very rear of there is an attractive enclosed rear patio beer garden area. It’s very traditionally pub in design which those who frequent Wetherspoon pubs will instantly recognise. There’s very little history of the town to read on the walls but on the staircase you can learn about The Mote and Maidstone Gaol.“

“Small, simple and cozy two-room neighbourhood pub, pretty well hidden on a street-corner north of the city-centre; the beer selection is a real attraction (6 permanently changing real ales are available, accompanied by the usual Lager-suspects plus some "real" cider) here; the service is friendly and well-informed. Nice place for a nice evening in the unspectacular town of Maidstone......“
