“Stopped by after a visit to the cool, nearby Evergreen Aviation Museum. Fairly prototypical standalone American brewpub. Beer list was pretty standard with legacy styles. We tried two, neither outstanding nor flawed. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Food wasn't that great, unfortunately. So-so. Brewery #1023.“

“Stopped in for an early morning brew to start the day. Typical Mcmenimans layout for their historic properties. Long wooden bar, historical appeal. Comfortable.“

“Small, upscale bar a bit outside of downtown McMinnville. Small, modern, cozy. Good selection of local taps, good service . Small patio. In a neighborhood, street parking.“

“Stop at McMinnville before going to the Oregon cost to Lincoln City, Oregon Facility is nice and clean, small, not a lot of people when we went Quality of the beer was excellent, very good presentation, no food available Service is very attentive and ready to share knowledge about the beer Selection is not a lot and mostly lager but this is the reason why I went to Heater Allen, to taste some lagers Food is not available Value is very good Overall: very good experience“

“Visited March ’17. Stopped in here given its close proximity to Heater Allen. It’s a very old school-feeling brewpub that seems to do pretty good trade in food. Roughly 12-15 beers were on tap with some bottled BA and sour offerings also available for purchase. Styles available covered the bases (90s brewpub IPA, strong Belgian ales, a hefe etc.). The beers weren’t too bad, though not good enough that I would order their stuff in a bar with a wide selection. Service was direct and pretty friendly. Prices were ridiculously cheap. Overall, I can’t strongly recommend Golden Valley – it’s an OK spot to stop for ticks if you happen to be in the area, nothing more.“

“Visited March ’17. Very limited opening hours. However, the staff were more than happy to open up to sell me bottles to go, so it may be worth it to pop by if you’re in the area outside of normal hours. Roughly 8 beers were on tap and available in bottles. Discounts are offered for case purchases. Overall, the beer quality is high enough that I think this place is well worth a detour. Recommended spot.“

“Now this is a cool place. In a wide open sort of Saturday market feel shopping center. Very open. Lots of seating and good food. Great service. Outside seating and a casual feel inside. The beer was all solid. This is a cool place, certainly worth a visit.“

“Pretty cool place. A big central city center (for McMinville) location. Nice rooftop bar. Usual McMenamins offerings. The food took forever on the roof top, over an hour. Otherwise, a solid place. Cool decor and nice views.“

“A nice place in McMinnville. Good service and decent food. Beer is nice. A nice place to hand out with a bigger crowd. There are several beer bar options but this is best with a large group.“

“Visited 26/8/2013. Went with a large group and getting a table for 9 wasn’t an issue. Huge roomed bar, with booths around the edge, and a vast number of tables everywhere else. Nice, large, old fashioned backbar. Again, selection is marked down due to being all Golden Valley beers, but that’s to be expected; why sell others’ when you brew a large amount of styles yourself? Started off with the Mild which was sadly served way too cold! After that went for the 10 beer sample platter, served on a huge piece of bowed wood. Beers are OK, nothing special. Just easy drinking ales/lagers. Service was efficient, attentive & friendly. Food was tasty & reasonably priced. A nice place to visit when in town, and does offer something different to McMenamin’s down the road.“

“Stayed one night at the hotel, 26/8/2013. Funky, fascinating place to visit/stay. Was hoping to make use of the large roof top patio, but the rain soon put an end to that. Sat in the bar instead, which wa cramped due to the rain outside. Beer selection is marked down a little due to it being all McMenamins beers and only having 5 beers available. What was served was good, fresh but very middle of the road. Service was good, and friendly. An interesting place to visit.“

“The largest bottle selection in McMinnville with roughly 30 different Oregon breweries represented. Most bottles stored cold with a couple of additional shelves used for warm storage. A number of seasonal and one-off special releases. Turnover seems high.“

“Grocery with a small bottle selection that includes 3-4 Heater Allen and a number of regional bottles. Base Camp, Widmer, Hop Valley, Pelican, etc. Very limited selection compared to the Roth’s grocery on the southwest side of town, so I would only recommend stopping here if Roth’s is short on Heater Allen bottles, though the brewery itself it right here in town.“

“A large building with plenty of parking. 10 taps of their own brew. IPA, Golden Ale, Hefe, Porter, American Pale Ale and a couple of others. Pretty good stuff. A roomy and great looking bar. Everything has a dark wood look to it. Plenty of seating inside and a nice patio area outside. Staff is friendly and attentive. Food is decent but overpriced, so I usually only stop in for the beer. I do like their German Potato salad. Over all a nice place to have a beer or two when in McMinnville.“

“A beutiful place, traditionally decorated, but very new. Huge bar in the first room you enter, and a nice function room behind it. We had an interesting brewery visit, and the brewer brought out the IPA vs. Brut and Black Panther in bottles. I had the sampler, which were very beutifully delivered on a stave from a barrel - good thinking, but only 9 beers in the sampler. Bombers of some of the beers available to go. The food was good.“

“If you are ever in McMinnville Oregon this is a must stop. They took an old Hotel and made it into a palace. The same Ole McMenamins look with the decorations. The food and beer was the same as always. Service once again same as all others. Oregon hippies who can careless and they make you feel like nothing. Get the beer the food and after that look around and see a great old building that has some great art. I am amazed the brothers have such n empire.“

“Stopped in passing through Oregon wine country, one of the few breweries in this part of the state (Portland being so close.) Didn’t try the food. Novel concept using parts of old wine barrels as a sampler tray. Service was extremely slow, and the restaurant wasn’t jammed or anything. Beer wasn’t that great. Of the ten I tried, I would consider having one or two again, and didn’t purchase any. Besides the sampler that is - nowhere did it mention a charge, and it was $7. Not worth the money and barely worth the time.“

“This was a nice place to visit an old warehouse or something that was now a Brewery. In the middle of McMinnville this was a great atmosphere and the place looked very clean. Kid friendly and a great menu of food. They bring out the sample of brews (10) of them on a special stave that was very unique and gave the place more charm. Food was good the beer could have been better. The darker the brew the better. I will be back with family and friends.“

“The service here is really hit or miss. Get seated and stay out of the bar area unless you sit at the bar. They have some average beers, but again their brewer Mark is killer and learned his craft over at Deschutes. Their seasonals and specialty beers are killer. Food is really good too, as they raise their own beef, and their spent grains from the brewery go back out into the feed for the cattle.“

“We stayed at the Hotel, and this was a fairly typical McMenamins pub, in both a positive and cautionary sense. The beers were what you’ve come to expect, clean and tasty; they’re not breaking new ground, but you can always rely on your favorites. There were some friendly and helpful servers, but as we’re seeing more and more at McMenamins establishments there were also perfunctory servers who figure it’s your job to come ask for a beer, their job to pour it and then they’re done - no warmth or welcome. Also, as usual it’s not the place to eat if you have somewhere to be; fortunately, we didn’t.

I’ve always been a McMenamins fan and Hotel Oregon doesn’t change that. I am concerned that perhaps the McMenamins chain is getting too long and they’re losing sight of the fundamentals of customer service; in that case, Trask Brewing down the street will be standing in line to eat McMenamins’ lunch.“

“My wife and I first visited this pub in the evening, and we later learned we had the fortune of being served by the manager, who ran a fun and festive bar. Unfortunately, he was all too soon replaced by a dour woman who apparently didn’t like one of the patrons at our end of the bar - so she avoided us all. We had to literally flag her down more than once to be served. Too bad - they were pouring some very good beers. We gave the place another chance the next evening, stopping in for dinner and hoping the table service would be better than the bar. While the menu was promising, the food was only acceptable, certainly nothing special and not an especially noteworthy value. The table service was sterile, which wasn’t as bad as being ignored, but only slighly. Golden Valley’s brewer seems to be a talented person, and I hope this pub matures to match the quality of his product. Otherwise, I’m unlikely to visit again - Trask down the street is much more comfortable and pours good beers, too.“

“While there had the sampler wtih 7 available. The were out of 3. I enjoyed the beers and had the steak for my meal which was very good. It’s a nice place to go and relax, although a long way from Portland where I was staying.“

“Stopped by this place on the way back from the coast and really enjoyed it. They had a sampler plate that was made of a strip from a wood cask with ten samples that sat in it. The beers there don’t change much, but they do have ten beers on tap which gives you a good selection. Try the porter and stout, easily the best of their beers. The food was decent, took a while for them to cook it, but when it finally came it was good. I wouldn’t make the drive to come to this place, but it is a nice stop on that way to or from the beach if you are on that highway.“

“A nice old building in historic downtown McMinnville. Beautiful patio in the summer covered in vines and greenery. Inside has large ceilings and lots of wood work around. Old fashioned bar with lots of taps and even a cask offering. The brewery isn't easy to see from anywhere in the place though. The staff was very friendly and helpful in trying new beers and explaining some of their nuances. I wasn't able to try the food though. The beer was diverse and well crafted as well. Clean place, great prices. McMinnville is where my grandparents live, so this was a good treat to be able to come here and see them at the same time. “
