“Newly open third location which will produce most of the beers Located in downtown Mokena IL. near the tracks.Decent selection of beers to taste. samples are the larger 9 oz. size. There newer brewers work there.“

“Good beer selection. Good food. Horrible pricing on brews. If this were Map Room, Hopleaf, etc. I could understand. But this is far too removed from downtown for these kinds of prices. It’s unfortunate too, since I work very close to both, but find myself frequenting Hailstorm and 350 Brewing more. The value is the only downside, but it’s significant.“

“Stopped by for a visit which was convenient to friends in the area. Yes, it’s in a strip mall, but they did a lot of work on the interior to make it feel like a "brewpub". Tables are close yet cozy, bathrooms are clean but a little stark. Beer selection crosses most palates, if you like hops, malts, sours, fruits, you’re sure to find something. I had no problem sticking with Tribes’ Sapphire Sky Saison while I also tried my wife’s How’s Your Father ESB which was also well-made, to-style and sessionable. Food was pretty darn good for "pub-grub". I had the Muffalleta which was a savory, salty heart-attack in a sandwich (exactly as I expected)! My wife had the Chicken Vesuvio which she enjoyed. I had leftovers the next day and they were on-point... well seasoned, plenty of gravy and potatoes which were tender and succulent. Our guests enjoyed their Lobster Roll and another Muffalleta. Story-short... a nice place for above-average food and beer. However, if I’m going to compare apples to apples, I’d recommend Tribes Tinley (10 miles, ~15 minutes NE) which has a more breathable atmosphere with a staffed, outdoor patio.“

“Good vibe, great tap selection, I had a friend come with me who is a master chef and he liked his dish as I did. All the four ales I tried were solid. He said the same. G.M. and staff were very nice. I will get other friends to come if they have not before. I will try and visit the other location in Tinley Park, IL. soon“

“A nice tap house in a strip mall. Induces trail and very local. Friendly service, but not particularly beer forward. Decent menu but I didn’t eat. Tasting flights available from a decent selection of beers from around US but pricy. Not worth a specific trip, but a worthy stop.“

“Weekly tappings of limited/rare releases to go with the other 40+ exceptional beers on tap. Excellent food. Not just the best beer place in the south suburbs but one of the best in all Chicagoland. Also have a strong whisky selection (even did a reasonably priced Pappy tasting once).“

“Really nice beer bar on the southern outskirts of Chicago. I stopped here although out of my way based on the good reviews on RateBeer. I wasn’t disappointed. I do think the overall reviews might be scoring just a bit high...but nonetheless a great beer destination if in the area. I do feel there is some tougher competition if you get closer to or in Chicago though (Hopleaf, Revolution, Map Room, to name a few). Probably my only negative was the food which although certainly not bad...also did not impress.“

“Hands down the best Craft Beer bar with the most amazing food offering in the South suburbs! The vast assortment of craft beer and food choices will not disappoint no matter how big of a beer "geek" you may or may not be. The staff is highly-educated on beer and are very accommodating in helping you make the best decision based on your tastes. Love this place!“

“Hands down, the best place to grab a beer and a burger in the southwest suburbs! The Tinley location has a a lot more space and seating. The Mokena location’s food is a bit better. Both locations have wide selection of craft beers and IPA’s, a thoughtful menu, knowledgeable and patient staff, and a warm, inviting decor, to make a pleasurable dining (and/or drinking) experience. Tappings and food specials every week, and constant updates to their website and social media sites. This place is on top of their game.“

“This new Tinley Park site for Tribes is excellent. Great seating and especially the outdoor area makes this a great place. The food is always top notch and they always have a good beer selection. My only criticism is the beer prices are a bit high.“

“I have been living in the South suburbs of Chicago for over 10 years now. And only in the last 4 years have I been turned on to craft Beer. And that was because of Tribes Alehouse! I am writing this review for Mokena and Tinley because I believe them to be the same in all aspects except for sheer size. I have been an avid fan and supporter of the Tribes and tell all of my friends that this is the best place for craft Beer - bar none - in all of Chicagoland. They have 42 handles of awesomeness in Mokena and 54 tappers in Tinley Park. They are pretty much the only place to be able to get Three Floyds products consistently. Great events, service, atmosphere, food and beer!“

“Without question, my fave place to meet with my friends or BF to drink good beer and snack on some tasty food. Yeah, its small and yeah its in a boring strip mall. But its in the suburbs what do you expect? The main thing is that they have an incredible beer list that changes like every day! The bartenders are really helpful and always know their stuff. If this place was in the city it would rival even the best! The room has really cool beer decor on the walls and the they hang all of their tap handles on a wall and it looks really awesome. They always have cool events going on too... Defintely a great place to go.“

“Nice, cozy beer bar with some very tasty food. If you are looking for a great steak this is the place. Very good selection of all types of beers. They do have the games on the tvs but not a sports bar which is nice. Definitely worth the trip out. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable“

“New to RateBeer and joined just to make sure I start voicing my opinions on the great and not so great beer bars in Chicago-land! The Tribes Mokena has been my go to place for the last 4 years. It has like 45 rotating tap handles with no BMC on draft at all. They seem to focus a little heavily on IPAs but thats OK by me for the most part. However it seems like in the last year or so, they have been spreading out to include more Belgian style saisons and sours which is really cool too. The place is located in a strip mall which when you arrive could be off-putting, but once you step inside, you feel like you disappeared in to a downtown Chicago Saloon. Except there’s no sarsaparilla! (Maybe they should??) Beer tackers and tappers adorn the walls and the back bar tappers with the copper sheeting is incredible and makes you just want to sample everything! Food is far better than normal pub grub. And you can indulge in beer-centric foods like charcuterie ^ cheese boards. But really the beer list is killer. I hope they stick around a long time!“

“This place is a gem! I am just getting into craft beer and the staff here are mighty knowledgeable and helpful when needing to be "schooled." The blackened catfish sandwich with mango salsa was delicious! Can’t wait to attend their special tappings on Wednesdays!“

“This place is comfy and cozy for the craft beer lover. Especially at the bar. My preferred place to sit and both drink and dine. The beers never disappoint. Usually a well balanced list of IPAs (my favorite) along with Belgians, stouts and the likes. Probably the most affordable steakhouse in the area. I’m talking high quality. I would put one of these up against one served at Sullivan’s or Gibson’s. The staff are both friendly and knowledgeable about beers. That is a breath of fresh air among the many bars that claim to offer craft beers yet know nothing about them. If you have any doubts about trying a new style, ask for a sample. They seem to be very quick to offer a sample for your palate. I wouldn’t miss this place if you are in the area and looking for a great place for eats and beers. CHEERS!“

“I happen to be local and have been here several times. Food is very good for bar food, beer selection is decent, but needs to be changed over more often. I also prefer beer to be on the colder side and all their beers tend to be a little warm. Definitely worth a stop, but don’t go out of your way.“

“Great experience for lunch here following the HiFi Release at Flossmoor Station (about a 10 min. drive away) Nice tap list of about 50 beers, many limited availability beers. Great bison burgers, friendly staff, a sports bar with a craft brew feeling and atmosphere. Will definitely be going here again.“

“40+ taps, wide whiskey selection and good pub food. Small size does lead to crowding in the restaurant some times but the food and beer selection makes up for it. Food includes burgers, fish and chips and other pub fare.“

“ I’ve been meaning to get to this place for awhile, but it’s out in the middle of nowhere (please forgive me if youre local). Some reviews seemed a bit shill-y and had me skeptical, especially after finally locating it in a strip mall between a dry cleaners and tanning salon. Deep breath, go inside, hey...its alright! Past a small vestibule waiting area, you are in the larger bar room, with a dining area off to the side. On a Sunday afternoon, this room was full of families with kids, but thankfully the bar itself was kid-free. Nice to see them cater to both families and the bar crowd. It was fairly loud, with high open ceilings and stereo at Friday night volume. The bar itself was nice, a few dozen taps on the wall, set into a copper basin, with wood detailing around that. Up above there were assorted beer cases stacked up, 3 flatscreens, and a shelf with branded growlers strangely enough. Lots of beer signs tacked up all over the walls, and some nice colorful chalkboards done by hand. Beer selection was good, though it leaned heavily toward IPAs and US craft (only imports were Delirium & Guinness). I wanted a stout to go with a few oysters (it was during oysterfest), but sadly Guinness was the only option. FFF was on special, $3 Gumballhead was music to my ears. Beer list was broken down by general styles, with abv, short description, BA/RB rating, and price. There werent really any bottles worth mentioning, just a handful of macros. I get that the draft beer is the main focus, but it wouldnt hurt to have a few bottles of stuff not on draft, namely imports. Food was the highlight, oysters and a generous portion of lamb loli-chops, 4 of them with a garlic oil and roasted squash. Guacamole was alright, and the panini was really just a grilled cheese, but also ok. A broad and varied menu covering pub food, cajun, mexican, asian, and a few other random things. Bison burgers looked excellent, ill have to get one next time. Overall a good place for fresh drafts and great food, an oasis in the craft beer desert of the southwest suburbs. Worth a stop if youre local or passing through, but ultimately not a major destination.“

“Hit this place for the beer battle between DFH and Rogue...Rogue was jobbed! This place however was fantastic...had an excellent burger, about 3 feet high, service was attentive given the huge crowd and the girls knew their beer...only tried the beers presented but they had 3F, 2 Bros, Founders, Bells a flowin’ - if you are in Mokena (sorry) - this place is fantastic stop by for a few and some grub“

“easy to see how they cut the BS from the old galway location and refocused into a smaller, smarter room. well decorated with a multitude of beer tins covering the walls and a huge line of taps. attended during a special event so while most of the staff gave great service it was hard to test their knowledge. i did not eat there but i saw at least 3 people order the nachos and it was at minimum 3 lbs. of a platter towering nearly 12" high off the plate. going back for another event in a couple months and if the place was closer (or at least near an interstate) id return. niall seems to have a genuine interest in making this place great and the ’ultimate beer bouts’ are a very unique idea which so far are well executed as well.“

“There’s very little to dislike about this place except that it’s a bit out of the way for most. It has a nice, friendly bar kind of feeling. Per usual, I can’t &/or shouldn’t eat most of the food being offered, but my friends seemed to enjoy it. But, as I (too?) often say, it’s all about the beer for me. They’ve got a great selection of rotating taps and plenty of bottles to choose from. It’s rare nowadays for me to be able to walk into a bar and have three beers that I hadn’t tried yet, but Tribes was up to the task. They also use proper glassware, for all you snobs out there. I’ll be returning when I have the money.“

“Stopped in with my dad and brother after long day of yard work. Was not the biggest fan of the old Galaway Tribes so did not know what to expect. I must say this place much much better than Galaway. First it is much more of a true craft beer bar than an overly Irish restaurant/bar. 40 tap loaded with high quality brews. Good selection of bottles and bombers as well. Of 37 taps they had list they had 8 or so that I have not had which is pretty rare these days for a local spot. Tons of quality brews on tap including a bunch from Stone, 3F, Brewdog, New Holland, and Green Flash. Food was really good. Me and my dad had the Roast Beef and Gorgonzola Sandwich which was really good. My brother had a Bison Burger which he thought was quite good. This is probably the best beer bar on the whole southside. Will definitely be back when in the area.“
