“Located below the Mount Tabor conurbation, this beautiful historic old hall building has stood on its own in the countryside between here and Halifax for a long time, but now it is flanked by a brand new housing estate which might bring welcome new customers to a pub that has had a number of people run it over the past few years. Given the size of the two story building only a small area is used for drinking and dining, although there are other rooms for business and conference spillovers. The room used is very atmospheric with a roaring fire at the bar end and the exposed stone brickwork around the original period windows that stretch the full length of convivial area. There’s a warming carpet too. All the tables are suitable for dining which this place is a destination for, for most people, although drinking here is just a suitable pastime. There are four real ale pumps serving locally produced real ales. Food are drink are both very good value here.“
