“Convenient for the railway station and in a nice old part of town, alongside an oddly picturesque stretch of urban river. They sometimes brew during opening hours, in the whopping copper kettles at the back of the bar. Run by nice people and very proud of they Michael Jackson pix at the entrance. The snacks are pretty good - can’t say anything about the full meals. All four regular beers plus a seasonal offering usually available on draught and for take-away.“

“Delicious beer and mediocre food. 800yen pitchers in january and June. Fantastic ales of all sorts but they vary from year to year. Typically there are 6-8 beers on tap. The ales are fantastic while the stouts leave much to be desired. Also the food really is quite over priced for the small portion size. Try ordering a set of some sort or a pizza instead. But in all honesty, one of the best Japanese Ales!“

“This is a 2021 revision of a 2008 rating. A nice brewpub/brewery in a little old town on Lake Biwa. Their beers are pretty decent but variable, the Ale being the most trustworthy. It is worth stopping if you are traveling form Tokyo to the West, as it is pretty near the Shinkansen Maibara stop. 6 taps included the regulars: weizen, pils, ale, plus 3 seasonals. They have a great value all-you-can-drink, ¥1980 for 2 hours. Local beef is the specialty food. They also have a distillery now, and you can try some of their world blended whisky and new make.“
