“The Guildford branch was a much needed if short-lived additon in any area with surprisingly poor beer options. I'd been keeping an eye on their remaining shop's website as they have a good array of Berkshire beer, both in terms of modern (Phantom, Double-Barrelled, Siren) and lesser spotted oldschool breweries (Butts, Indigenous, Hermitage). In fact they have decent mix of UK, European (and the odd US) craft beer plus more traditional breweries from neighbouring counties such as Wiltshire and Oxfordshire. They must have restocked after Christmas they had more of the beers I was after so put in an order for 15 Berks beers plus a few from Hants and Wilts. No complaints about the service. They texted me when to check if I was happy to replace one of the beers that was out of stock rather than just putting a random beer in. In fact they then quickly sent an update to say that they'd found extra stock so not to worry. 10% off for ordering more than 12 + beers and postage was only £3.99 - wasn't next day delivery but only took 2 days. I will definitely put in an order again as they do have a range that doesn't just replicate every other bottle shop, albeit they may be less interesting to those who only want craft beer. Having said that they do have the full array of beers from Phantom, etc.“

“In my ongoing quest to climb as many hills as possible out of the 20,000 on the UK hillbagging website, I had earlier in the day insisted on taking my wife on a stomp through the woods at the Grimsbury Castle iron age fort (one of the listed hills). By way of recompense, I then took my wife into Newbury for lunch. Passing this shop, I noticed that it coincidentally had a beer called Grimsbury Castle in the window; obviously I had to go in and buy it (as I like hills and beer, I'm always a sucker for beers named after hills - even though they tend to be dull). And it turned out it was a very nice little shop. It had an impressive array of local brews, and also a pretty decent (although far from unique) selection of craft beers and a friendly owner who seemed to personally know the local brewers. There was a pop-up shop in there too, some lady selling something I can't remember - apparently they have regular events like this. All in all it seemed a decent place. As I was with my wife and had a lot of beers at home already, I restricted myself to just buying the Grimsbury Castle, but if I was back in Newbury again I definitely come back for a more extensive browse.“

“Excellent bottle shop with lots of locals to be found here. From both Berkshire and surrounding counties. Service was good and they gave a 10% discount if you bought 12+ beers. Definately worth a visit.“

“Visited 16/7/2019. This was the first visit here after having visited Guildford branch a number of times before that sadly closed. Service there had been quite lacking ((though the shop was great), but here it was much more personable. Pack a lot of beers into a fairly small place. Decent prices. Good selection of beers from local counties. Well worth a visit.“

“I happened to visit during their Easter beer, cider and gin festival. It was so much fun that the wife and I showed up for a second night. At the bar they have a nice selection of cask beer, some taps including German and American. A very nice bottle selection as well. The staff is friendly and helpful. It appears to have been redecorated as it is quite nice inside. For the Untappd crowd that have a monitor and you will eventually see your check-ins pop up on the screen.“

“Greene King Local Hero Pub with a good choice of guest ales. Central bar serving 3 different areas, one of which is for dining. Enjoyed beers from Greene King, Butts and Daleside.“

“We found this by chance looking for somewhere for lunch, but it turned out to quite a find and I’m looking to come back. There were a range of cask ales, and a number on keg from Germany and the US. The bottle selection is impressive, with the UK, Germany, Belgium and the US well represented. This is a place to come if you like your pies as the food was decent.“
