“Conveniently located next to my hotel, this place did not dissappoin. Usual pizza menu, plus over 30 taps, with some local and interesting offerings. I had a good Wicked Weed. Service was fast and friendly. Little tasters available if you ask nicely.“

“Small store with couple of tables on a patio. Large communal table inside. 10 taps and couple of hundred bottles and cans. Selection is not huge, but I was able to find some gems. Lots of local stuff some of which I haven't seen elsewhere. Friendly service.“

“Much larger spot than I would have imagined. Great for covid with a huge outdoor patio / space. The beers were pretty average, especially the ipas which were very 2012. Decent ba stout but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.“

“Strange place - the tasting room is at the back of a very dodgy looking industrial park, and it reaked of manure when I got out of the car. No A/C, so it was sweltering hot in the tasting room when I visited. Tons of taps, over two dozen, with flights of 4 available for $6 (+$2 for every 8+% beer you include). The berliners I tried were decent, while the IIPAs were cloyingly sweet and improperly balanced. Super friendly staff. Not a top spot, but it was fun - if not sweaty - for a couple of flights.“

“Large place in a strip mall wiht a biergarten out front. Palce was packed with only 1 bartender but she was great. It is a tickers paradise with 20 or so drafts. It was not super expensive either. Beers were hit or miss but overall an enjoyable stop.“

ambiance: Near-hidden turnoff, the very back of a dubious-looking industrial park. Inside is welcoming enough--typical warehouse brewery feel. outside patio area too. One gripe is that on a very hot day, they just had all the doors wide open--fully open air. Maybe they don’t have air conditioning, I don’t know. But the bartenders were sweating like mad, and the beer very quickly became warm. If I hadn’t been drinking four ounce samplers, I’m not sure I could have finished a pint before it got too warm to enjoy. service: No issues, very nice and rather business-like. selection: About 20 taps of their stuff, including what looked like some one-offs, rarities, etc. Tried 8, and all were ok to good, with one or two that bordered on excellent. food: N/A, though thye appear to have a menu of decent-looking stuff; I just didn’t have anything. value: Perfectly reasonable. overall: Decent beer, decent price, a fine setting. Just come on a relatively good-weather day or you could be making ball soup.“

ambiance: Tiny little place, a half block of the gentrified main drag and therefore just the right amount of delightfully sketchy. A few shelves line the room (300 sq feet?), and there’s a minuscule bar. service: I was the only person in the place and Justin was very nice. Gave good BBQ recommendations, too. selection: Ten taps, mostly IPAs and sours. Two coolers of singles, and about a dozen shelves. Lots of stuff I can’t find in DC. food: N/A. value: On the pricey side. I picked up 10 singles, 2 of which were 750s and the rest were either tallboys, 1.9ers or standard 12 oz cans and bottles, and it ran me over a hundred bucks. Worth it for the stuff I found, which included Blackberry Farm! overall: Neat little place that puts hole in hole-in-the-wall. Worth checking out if you want to drink and buy at the same time.“

“A large, open air brewery with a large patio. Multiple TV’s offer sports or movies, with both playing at the same time. The food is really good; I had the Holy City burger: fried green tomato, pimento cheese and bacon with two beef paties. They offer 25 beers on tap and a cask or two, some of the beers being a bit gimicky, so I give them props for bucking the norm. The quality is average.“

“Holy City is in the back of a small industrial park. The first time I actually drove past it so have your eyes open when visiting this place. They had over 20 beer of tap with all major styles represented and a few lesser known ones as well. I managed to have four beers and was pleasantly surprised by their taste and quality. The place itself is rather large and a great place to hang out with friends. The patio outside is huge and has umbrellas for those hot summer afternoons. Definitely kid friendly and they allow dogs on the patio too. I highly recommend Holy City if you are in North Charleston looking to drink beer.“

“Holy City is in a large long shed or garage and has a proper bar with a pool table as well as housing the brewery. They have about 20 taps, so plenty of choice of good beers. (Visited 15 February 2014).“

“Visited during Brewvival. Large warehouse that gives away its formal military use. Tasting room is right in the production area, essentially, which only adds to the atmosphere - the focus is the beer. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, helpful with news of beery happenings elsewhere in the city. All the beers I tried were solid, with a couple that were top notch. Growlers, bottles available. A very worthwhile stop.“

“It’s a little unique to to approach a brewery that’s surrounded by a barbed wire fence, but that’s the joy of have ex-navy base property. It’s a small production and patrons are basically within their production facility, just in a little corner walled off by gear - cans, keg, and equipment. It’s a bit cramped, but a very communal feel. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely want to make beer that people like. roughly $5 a pint, with flights offered, and some bottles on site for purchase. Apparently, on most weekends, a local bbq joint fires up a smoker in the front yard to provide food, but I was out of luck this visit.“

“It felt like walking into a neighborhood barbecue or block party. The converted warehouse spills out into the adjacent parking lot with an abundance of picnic tables, a game of bags to the side, a billiards table, basketball hoop, and an acoustic act coming through the loudspeakers. Definitely a chill party vibe going on. The staff was attentive and friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy the beer they were serving. The amount of different Holy City beers available was impressive and nearly overwhelming. There were 20+ taps to choose from. They did you-pick-em flights of four as well as standard pints, all reasonably priced. They had a couple food options available - namely barbecue sandwiches - which smelled good, but I did not partake during this visit. Very cool setup and worth the visit.“

“Visited here with noted admin Drake after Brewvival. Sort of a low-key dive burger bar with a solid draft selection. The place was pretty busy during our Friday night visit, and we were pretty lucky to score bar seats with no wait. Drafts featured mostly locals in addition to bottles of macro stuff and more common national offerings. I tried a solid sweet stout from Holy City. Prices were OK. I didn’t eat, but the burgers did seem to be well received by the diners sitting in our vicinity. An OK option if you’re in the area and aren’t feeling up for pizza at EVO.“

“Visited right after Brewvival with part of the mid-Atlantic Crew. Tight, personal space with a high bar. The draft list is small and almost entirely local. Westbrook Poppin’ Pils was drinking in great form so I kept to that for the evening. The food here’s very good, even by Charleston’s high foodie standards. We split an excellent starter plate in addition to sampling some pizzas. The attention to detail from the kitchen staff and quality of ingredients was more than apparent in our dishes. Prices were totally fair considering the quality of the food. Overall, a great option for visitors who are feeling puckish. Recommended.“

“Neighborhood dive bar. Small, an assortment of tables and a bar. Full of locals. Bar staff was passable. Several good beers on tap, though they did butcher a lot of the names, and several more good ones in bottles. Did not try the food. Decent place.“

“Awesome place to hit Park Circle! At first they were just selling bottles to go, but now I can get a pint there and a growler to go. Knowledgeable staff with very good palettes. Welcome to the neighborhood! ...and they now have 10 taps as opposed to 4!“

“Holy City is tucked away in an industrial park, but they’ve made excellent use of their space. Out front was a food truck, picnic tables and cornhole set up. Inside is a spacious and utilitarian tasting room. We sat at the long wooden bar. An impressive number of beers were available. I am pretty certain it was more than eight. The beers I tried were all solid. It’s great to see a place like this open in the area because Charleston metro now has some real, all-we-do-is-brew-craft-beer places.“

“Coast is in an old naval warehouse originally used for storing documents. Shipbuilding finished in the naval yard area in 1995 and the brewery opened here 7 years ago. It’s very much a working brewery, with a makeshift bar and a few benches and tables. We visited on a Saturday as part of a tour of local breweries (for which you need a car, although we kept meeting up with the same people who, it turned out, were on a minibus tour along the same route). State law allows a maximum of 48oz per person to be drunk on the premises and you get a ticket showing how many you’ve had. As I was driving, Chris was able to have my ticket and try all the beers - there were five on tap plus one bottle, all of them very good. (Visited 15 February 2014).“

“The brewery tap feels like an over-sized garage. The place was absolutely heaving with southern beer geeks and locals. There were 20 taps of house beer on across a range of styles. Plenty of collabs and (alleged) one-offs featured, and I regret that I didn’t have anyone to help me take on the list. The quality of beer was a bit variable. Some stuff was great, some merely OK. Prices were good, especially for growler pours. Service was decent despite the crush at the bar. Overall, strongly recommended.“

“6 taps, with a heavy focus on local. At least one Coast and Westbrook on tap everytime I’ve been there. Quality over quantity in terms of bottle beer as well, with a solid rotating list. IMHO best brick oven pizza in town with locally sourced meat/produce/etc.“

“No frills, warehouse location on the old Charleston Naval base. May not look like much, but it’s all about what’s on the inside. I can’t recall ever having a COAST beer that I was disappointed by, and more often than not their offerings are truly exceptional. Given their relatively limited distro currently, this is often the only place to go for many of their offerings, and theirs nothing quite like getting it directly from the source served by the proprietor.“

“We thought we’d check out COAST after trying a few of their beers around South Carolina and were not disappointed. There is nothing quite like drinking in a brewery, surrounded by sacks of malt and barrels. They had perhaps 4 beers on tap and small selection of bottles including a new limited release. All beers were pretty nice really. Staff were friendly and more than happy to show you around. A great little spot.“

“Don’t take the score I gave this as an indication of how the place really is. Me and a buddy decided that we would stop in without warning. There were a couple employees there who showed us the brewery and gave us a few samples. They were super nice and were happy that we randomly showed up. if you are in North Charlston it is a cool place to add to your list.“

“Open air, warehouse with a cool, chill group of patrons and staff. Their core beers are readily available around town, but to really experience what Holy City is all about you got to go there. Almost every time I’m there they have something new and unique; a cask, derivation of one of the staples, or a new beer that is only released at brewery. Keeps me coming back. The cost/quality ratio is exceptionally good as well.“

“This is a warehouse in an industrial part of North Charleston. Visited the night before Brewvival and they had live music and a fish fry, plus burgers and other stuff. The best beer of the night was actually a guest beer from NoDa, the Holy City beers were just OK. But the atmosphere’s the thing here.“

“Another brewery not already in the database? Come on Charlestonians. Now as a caveat I’m not sure I came here on a typical night, as they are staying open late tonight and it is the night before Brewvival,. but wow, what a scene. Tons of people, some dogs, lots of good beer, Southern thunderstorms, live music and a free catfish fry. They were doing six "samples" for 5 bucks. The only downside was I had to pours some out because while they were good, I do have to drive you know. Beers were all solid to very good. They are in an industrial park, and not a very nice one at that. The "tasting room" is in the middle of the brewery. There’s a dart board and a pool table. The servers managed to be VERY nice even though they were swamped. Overall, I was VERY impressed by this place. I’m just sad I can’t go back on a calmer day.“

“Stopped here based on the ratings here. Located in kind of an artsy area, and the ambiance matches with art on the walls and dim lighting. Only 6 taps but they are quality. On my visit it was Westbook IPA, Holy City Pilsner and Porter, COAST Blackbeerd, Ommegang Hennepin and Left Hand Stranger. Decent bottled and can selection as well. Prices are a little high but not unreasonable. My server (the bartender) was awesome. The pork trifecta pizza was very good. I like hte emphasis on local ingredients. Nice place and I’m glad I stopped by.“

“I’m really not sure North Charleston has enough railroad tracks. Sheesh! This place reminds me a little bit of Wedge in Asheville, with people hanging out outside, families, laid back vibe, etc. Though it’s definitely less artsy and more industrial park. Located in a warehouse. I was afraid the place would be swamped as they’re only open a couple times a week, but that was not the case even though they were busy. Inside is some random tables and couches alongside pallets of grain and barrels full of delicious things. The offer bottles for sale and fill growlers of most things. The prices were about what you’d expect. The people working are exceptionally helpful and willing to chat. Overall its a very laid back vibe with excellent beer and good people. Awesome place.“

“A cool pizza joint in North Charleston with 6 good taps (Coast, Allagash, New Belgium amongst others), offer a 4 X 6 ounces sampler for 12$. Pizza is above average with locally gathered ingredients, decent prices, and, oh, they make their own chocolate bars, professionaly wrapped. And Holy City was inaugurating their beers, so beer for free that night. Loved this place. Warning, gets packed quicly and only one bathroom.“

“This is one of the better brewery tours I’ve been on. The owners are infinitely approachable and personable and the space that comprises their brewery/living quarters/point of sale/bottling facility is inviting and alive. For tickers the bad news is you’re not gonna get a whole lot of ratings or rarities out of this visit, as they only have 3 taps and they really make an effort to get all their beer distributed in the area. For those more on the non-OCD side, you’re gonna get a warm welcome and engaging experience. I’d visit again in a heartbeat just to say hi.“

“Had a few locals direct me to EVO so I decided to check it out. I was not disappointed in the slightest. Where I expected a big pizza restaurant with an expansive beer list, a la Mellow Mushroom, I got a quaint lunch/dinner place with only 6 well-chosen taps. The ambiance is hippie/progressive with cool music playing and rustic decor. The menu looks great and while I expected the pizza to be the overwhelming focus, it’s probably only 50% of the menu. The ingredients used are local and environmentally sound. I had a simple but very delicious salad followed by a fantastic, but certainly not conventional, herb/cheese pizza. Don’t go in expecting tradtional Italian or New York or Chicago za and you won’t be disappointed. Btw, check out the chocolates. The beer list is not overly exciting but covers its bases well considering its smallness. Normal people should go here to get a solid beer and have a tasty meal. Beer geeks should go here to either grab some lunch before/after touring COAST or to get some COAST beer on days when the brewery is not giving tours.“
