66 /100 96-100 THE PARADE If you're in a Wetherspoons on a Monday mid-afternoon, your life probably isn't going so well. Then again, the Lord Keeper is pretty full, and I'm here... Anyway, this JDW is fairly old-school and there's not so much to make it stand out, but they have a few well-kept guest casks (about three) alongside the nationals. Nothing too exciting in the craft bottle/can selection but it's standard JDW and well-stocked. Not a bad place by any means but difficult to get excited about. |
58 /100 96-100 THE PARADE Oadby spoons which carries quite a local feel as JDW’s go. Formerly a shop on the main High St through Oadby town centre so the perennial lack of natural light exists here as with many other bars in the chain.
Large open plan room on the left which probably lends a little more to a standard pub atmosphere comapred to a normal spoons.
Beer range OK - 4 or so guests above and beyond the stock range.
You’ll do worse than this one! |
62 /100 96-100 THE PARADE A Wetherspoon of two halves. If you decide to sit on the left as you walk in you get a cosy bookshelf fireplace lounge type area. The middle section is fairly normal but the lower section on the right feels like the cheap seats at the theatre. The bar sports two rows of ale pumps. |
78 /100 THE COW & PLOUGH, STOUGHTON GRANGE FARM, GARTREE ROAD An excellent pub. Food is very good, but overpriced. No pressure to eat, there is a dedicated and substantial bar that is every bit the equal of the restaurant. Range is excellent. |
56 /100 96-100 THE PARADE Really, really dark in here. Book shelves line the walls, which is a nice touch. Lacks the canteen effect of many Spoons and is actually quite intimate. Regular bunch of punters come here. Theakston Best is their regular and is very keenly priced. Pint quality is variable. A good range from the Spoons national list. |
