“Another sign of dying Ratebeer. Despite this place being barely off the interstate in a city of 67,000 in a region with a decent number of breweries, this is the first rating of this place in 8+ years. Small feel but it's better than it looks. Good tap list, and given the beers they got for their Darkest Day event, they move some beer. Exceptional tap list for the event. The rest of the beer list decent but not quite as exciting. Food was good. Service was good considering our server had an insane amount of tables. Probably short staffed. Prices solid. Overall worth a stop if in Oshkosh.“

“Not sure if this is called Fratello's anymore. In any case its a huge place. Two sides... tap room and restaurant. I went to the taproom side. Basically sports bar vibe. Big place, long bar, lots of tables. Lots of TVs with various sportsball events on them. Busy but not crowded. Food is available on this side but I did not look at a menu. 12ish beers on tap, all their own product. I tried five. Some were merely OK, but a couple were excellent. Overall the beer with this brewery is starting to improve. Bartender was excellent. Friendly, helpful, informative, and at the same time taking care of a lot of people very well. Not the best brewery in Oshkosh, but still worth a stop.“

“Huge place out in the country. Big gravel lot. Big patio. Large inside, but a small bar. Customer service was friendly, but very passive. I wanted to stop by here because the bottles I had tried had quality control issues. Sadly, fresh on tap was no better. Some okay beers, nothing great, and a diacetyl bomb. No beers dialed in. The NEIPA was OK. The guest tap was the best of the flight. 6x 5 oz. beers for $12 and pint prices seem okay. Free popcorn and allegedly pizza available. Several guest taps and bottles. Overall, not worth going out of your way.“

“AFAIK "Warehouse Foods" is a misnomer. It's a grocery store. Separate liquor store more like a Festival Foods than a Pick N' Save. Huge liquor selection, but its lacking. Huge BYO section, over 180 facings, but it's lackluster. Lots of alco-pops, hard ciders, and multiple facings. Out of those 180+ I struggled to find 5 beers I hadn't rated, and some of those are swill. Rest of the selection nothing to write home about. No customer service in the aisles, prices okay. Not sure why this was added; not worth a stop“

“New rating 11/21/22. My old review is obsolete at least as far as the beer selection. They have become the best store in Oshkosh for sure and one of the best in the region. They've massively expanded the beer selection and it basically covers every square inch in the back third of the store. Tons of local and regional. Some rarities. Lots of people shopping beer when I was there yesterday so I'm sure turnover is better. Prices a bit better and in line with other stores. Recommended stop.

Original rating May 2019: I wasn't 100% sure I should add this. Beer selection is good, but singles are lacking a bit. I did find a single I wanted to snag but then saw it was a 9-month old IPA. Nope. More interesting things in 6-packs but generally prices are very high so, also nope. Good selection, including several meads and ciders, but nothing really appealed to me. What did appeal to me is the rest of the place. Smelled amazing when I walked in with all kinds of gourmet foods. Old school butcher with an amazing selection of sausages and other meats. Staff was friendly. I won't be back for the beer but I WILL be back for the food. 4/6/8/12.“

“Got two of these guys' beers in a random BYO six pack section and that spurred me to visit. Located in a modern and bright feeling space. They have several hundred vinyl records which serve as the music. Awesome. Steely Dan and Fleetwood Mac while I was there. Some foodstuffs. Three bartenders though only one interacted with me. Overall service was friendly but a little standoffish. Dedicated parking lot to the side and street parking seems easy around here if that is full. Prices are good, including on the beer. They tend to use a lot of adjuncts, but they use them well (i.e. peach blueberry berliner, maple imperial oatmeal stout). Beer quality good overall. Overall a very nice stop and I'll be back.“

“A small narrow bar with a long bar on one wall and seating the others. A good amount of old memorabilia was around. Bartender was happy to talk beer and the selection was solid if not outstanding with 20 taps. Wished for a few more local handles. Prices were good. A nice spot especially considering the area!“

“A large restaurant/brewpub with a large patio on the water, a large open dining area and a decent size bar area with a number or TVs. Service was solid if not particularly beer oriented. 8 beers on tap for my visit with samplers available. Food was good but not great and everything is well priced. A decent brewpub.“

“Very impressive array of taps. I’ve never had the food so I can’t speak to that, but there is always a very good selection of beer that rotates often. Any time I’ve been there it has been way too crowded and noisy. It’s a good thing that there is such a crowd, but there just isn’t enough space for the amount of people that come in. Put in a second location and I may be completely sold. Good Irish pub feel though.“

“Really fun place to hang out and have a couple craft beers. Great selection of imports and selection of draught beer that rotates fairly often. Also the nomad/genius club is a good way to track the beers you’ve had and possibly earn some prizes.“

“Bartenders are knowledgeable about beer and can make recommendations, the taps are always changing and never boring, the bottled selection is very impressive and always keeping up with the seasons, they have 40 different Irish whiskeys to choose from, have clubs you can join for free and they will track beers you have tried and give you free drinks, shirts, etc for exploring and being a frequent customer, has steel tip darts, pool, and foosball, just a nice place to unwind and try a constantly changing selection of spirits.“

“Right on the Fox River. Outside patio area always busy in the summer with boats docking all the time. Often 10 employees sitting around talking when you want a beer. Inside dining area very nice looking out over the river. Food is good, although beer has been less than stellar lately. A couple of brews you can always count as well as some seasonals made now and then. Inside service usually pretty good.“

“If I lived within 30 minutes of this place, I would be here all the time in the summer. Plenty of outdoor seating and live entertainment on the Saturday afternoon I was there. Also a large outdoor bar. There are a dozen or so boat slips out front, catering to all the water life on Lake Winnebago. The beers were generally above aerage, and the food was pretty good. I’ve heard the desserts are great. Inside has a ski lodge feel with another large bar area and big windows to look out on the river. Friendly service and overall a great place.“

Oblio’s (Bar)

“A landmark on Oshkosh’s Main Street, Oblio’s has had the same owners since 1979 and they have continually reinvested in the tavern. The biggest change in recent years is busting through a few walls to expand into neighboring space. They had about 20 beers on tap during my visit this week (including two different $2 pints advertised on the large chalkboard near the main entrance) and many more by the bottle. Although located in a college town, Oblio’s attracts a nice mix of young and old. A well-lighted public parking lot is located behind the building. Arrive before 9 p.m. to get a seat at a bar (free, freshly made popcorn). Wisconsin outlawed indoor smoking in mid-2010, so the smokers have relocated to the outdoor patio.“

“This is real stuffy for a brewpub. It’s more of a place to stop for a business meal or out on the boat. The beers for the most part are ok, and on occation I will find one that truly floors me and so I go back. If the word budget is in your vocabulary this is not the place for you.“

“I visited the location in Appleton connected to the mall. The service was great, very quick and friendly. However it didn’t really matter a whole lot compared to the beer, which was a huge dissapointment. Not impressed at all with the quality. The only beer that I somewhat liked was the blueberry ale because they put blueberries in the glass. Other then that, the majority of the brew was watered down and weak.“

“Been there done that type of restaurant with a small bar and plenty of places to eat both inside and on the river. Chose to sit at the bar and order a sampler. 6.50 for six beers, six ounces a piece. Bartender let me choose the six, which was nice. He seemed friendly and answered all of my questions. The beer is okay, a few rate above the rest. The food wasn’t very good. My cheeseburger tasted like lighter fluid and it’s probably the worst brewpub food I’ve had yet… The had a build your own sixer of their brands available and I was able to find five additional beers in the cooler to take home.“

“I went to this place on a weekend. It was so packed that it was elbow-to-elbow and standing room only. Predominately college-aged and 20-something crowd. Had above average taps including Bell’s Sparkling Ale and New Glarus Belgian Red. Did not see bottles because I couldn’t make it physically to the bar. VERY smoky.“

“This place is interesting because although there’s a malt silo out front and a big window showing all the brew kettles inside, it’s decidedly un-beer-y. As I walk in, there’s a bar to my right, the brewing area to my left and right in front of me is a giant, all-glass wine cellar. Once I get to the table I immediately pick up the 4 page book in front of me which contains an extensive wine list... But unfortunately, no information about their beer (not even a list of what they have). I incorrectly guess that beer information will be available in the regular food menu. In fact, the only list of beers I can find is on chalkboards at the bar (which the wine cellar completely blocks from my view). I have nothing against wine, but when a brewpub focuses so heavily on wine, it makes me suspicious of their brewing abilities. My first sip of IPA confirms my suspicions... very little to be excited about. The Porter I have next is better, but still not outstanding. On another note, my food isn’t great either... At least not worth the 19 bucks I paid. I figured that given the popularity (another Fratello’s in Appleton and a brewpub at the mall) that this place would be excellent. Unfortunately I was disappointed. It gets points for having above-average pub food and passable brews, but it’s not a place I’d rush back. I’d rather hit up Stone Cellar in Appleton.“

“Pleasant, airy establishment on the river. Spacious bar. Not quaint by any stretch. Nice selection of their own brews to draw from. Wouldn’t rave about the brews that I tried, but I would probably stop here again if in the area.“

“I stopped in after the Hops and Props festival in March of 2006 but due to my altered state, I forgot to pursue it here. The atmosphere is nice. Oblio’s recently doubled their floor space by opening up into the adjacent building. A great place for the addition of additional seating, pool table, etc. The quality is nice. They’ve kept the historic flavor....right down to the extremely high tin ceilings and lots of original woodwork. Service was great, but what can you expect when you get a chance to talk to the owner, who is bartending and happens to love great beer too! The selection has to be the best in Oshkosh with 27 taps, 22 of which are craft and imports. While there, I had a chance to sample some Rogue Shakespear Stout, North Coast Red Seal Ale and Sprecher Black Bavarian. They also had some New Glarus, South Shore, Lagunitas and many other fine craft beers. According to the owner, 6 of the taps are rotated regularly. I thought the value was very reasonable. Pints ran me a mere $3.25. Not a bad deal at all, considering what some of these go for in the bottle. Overall, I must say that this is the kind of place I could hang out at on a regular basis if I lived in Oshkosh. What could be better than drinking great (reasonably priced) beer and having someone behind the bar to talk beer with? Check it out if you find yourself in Oshkosh!“

“Nice stop in Oshkosh. Good food, but never had the beer. I’d recommend it if you are doing anything in the area and want to hit a decent place for lunch or dinner. It actually isn’t on the lake (just a connecting river), but that’s fine :)“

“Nice place, and glad we made the stop. Nice, spacious brewpub overlooking Lake Winnebago. Friendly staff, but not very knowledgeable about their beer and brewing techniques. Beer sampler was $5.50 and included eight different beers in 4-oz. tasters. Have some bottles for sale as well - $2 each or $7 for a sixer. An overall good experience.“
