68 /100 74-714 TECHNOLOGY DRIVE Large space in Palm Springs. It is all open air seating though plenty of indoor seating which is comfortable (visited on a cool evening!). Beer list somewhat short, mostly standard styles (some light offerings, a couple IPAs, a barrel aged porter). Food menu standard pub fare, not a huge variety but they have salads, burgers. I wasn’t terribly impressed. Service a little slow but the place was full. Not a place I’d specifically seek out but it got the job done. |
62 /100 77770 COUNTRY CLUB DR UNIT D Came here on 12.6.2021. Newest brewery in the valley. Very good West Coast IPA. Hazy IPA was not convincing. Amazing how many beers they have already on the menu (20) after such short period of time. A brewery with potential. |
74 /100 Total Wine & More - Palm Desert (Beer Store) 72339 HWY 111 Solid Total Wine store, not the best I visited but with nice beer selection. Service as expected. Parking just outside. Bonus they have wi-fi. |
72 /100 77917 WILDCAT DR Firstly - not in La Quinta, but Palm Desert. They do have a taproom in La Quinta though. Brewery is a cool spot. Taproom has good beer, usually with a couple of small batches. Go on a week day you'll get the brewing staff. |
86 /100 Total Wine & More - Palm Desert (Beer Store) 72339 HWY 111 The best place to shop for beer in the Coachella Valley. Lots of craft, lots of rare stuff, well priced and most of it available in singles. Way better than bevmo. |
76 /100 Whole Foods Market - Palm Desert (Grocery Store) 44459 TOWN CENTER WAY Doesn’t have the quantity of the nearby total wine, but I think it has the edge on quality. Found a number of beers here I didn’t see elsewhere, such as stickee monkey and helldorado, plus a few things from Alpine. Downside is every single beer is refrigerated, something I didn’t need with a few age-able beers I bought. Still, of the stores I visited in this area, whole foods might be the best in my opinion. |
50 /100 Buffalo Wild Wings - Palm Desert (Restaurant) 72920 HIGHWAY 111 If you need to watch sports but not at the sacrifice of actually enjoying a good beer, this place is worth going to. But don’t come only to drink beer. Not good selection; mostly macros and larger, average crafts available. There are a few exceptions, thankfully, but overall the selection for a big draft list was disappointing. |
80 /100 Total Wine & More - Palm Desert (Beer Store) 72339 HWY 111 This is the place to shop in the desert. There’s better places elsewhere, but this is #1 in the desert. Reasonably priced, the best selection. Make sure that they correctly charge for anything marked down with stickers. If you come to the desert this should be your top choice for beer hunting. |
70 /100 Bristol Farms - Palm Desert (Beer Store) 73101 COUNTRY CLUB DR It’s a high end grocery store with a pretty good beer selection. My parents and their friends shop here frequently and abuse one of their beer systems. This is one of the few places that can get Russian River Pliny the Elder in the desert. You have to ask if they have it, and if they do they’ll give you one bottle. Ironic that a bunch my parents friends that don’t know/care about beer are the ones scoring numerous bottles of Pliny so I can drink them. Other than hoping for Pliny it’s *really* rare to find something unique here. |
70 /100 Whole Foods Market - Palm Desert (Grocery Store) 44459 TOWN CENTER WAY Reasonably good selection, pricing isn’t the best - it is Whole Foods after all. I have found a few gems here over the last year or so. Worth checking out, not worth seeking out. |
82 /100 77917 WILDCAT DR This brewery very close to the I-10. intersection with Washington Street in Palm Desert. The listed address of La Quinta is incorrect. This is their second year and there was celebration on Saturday November 14. We had 8 visitors on Sunday for beer tasting. They have seven 30 barrel fermenters with a 20 barrel for experimental runs. The 10 and 16 oz glasses are priced the same. The ales were all well made. The APA and IPA were above average. The porters were also popular with our group. there is limited seating with two picnic tables and high chairs. Matt was very helped the beer select beers they might like. This is an easy stop for people traveling on I-10. |
74 /100 77917 WILDCAT DR Cool typical industrial park tasting room. Brewery in back. Decent showing of house beers. Beer tender was great and knowledgable. Fun place to hang out with the la Quinta locals. |
74 /100 77917 WILDCAT DR Visited March 15, 2015.
I meant to stop at a few more places on my way back from Phoenix but it was getting pretty late already when I pulled in. This is a bit off the highway hidden in some commercial warehouses. Inside is a small tasting room and in the back is a decent sized brewery (20 bbl?). Not much to look at in the tasting room but the place was decently full of locals around closing time on a Sunday night. Several of them are in the club that the brewery has. There is a leader board for most pints consumed and two of the top 5 were there, trying to maintain their position. Kind of funny. There were 11 beers on tap including a nitro tap. 7 of them were labeled as "core" beers and the other 4 were experimental / tap room only beers. I had a half pint of the new session IPA while I waited for the dishwasher cycle to finish since they were out of taster glasses. I eventually tried most of them and on the whole they were a little better than Coachella Valley down the street. Not amazing by any stretch but certainly not bad. There were 5 hoppy beers, 4 roasty beers, a blonde, and a brown ale. I think the DIPA was probably my favorite. The coffee porter wasn’t bad I suppose but it was overdone on the coffee. While I wont be making the trip out here from Riverside on a regular basis I might stop in on trips out to AZ. Prices were good, service was OK when I got service (he was busy talking to the regulars), and parking is easy in the industrial park. |
70 /100 77917 WILDCAT DR After visiting Coachella Valley brewing, I have now made it to the other newish brewery in the area...not that I’m a frequent visitor to the Palm Springs area.
Pretty small tasting room in a little business park. Not far from I10. In addition to the tasting area and bar where you order from, there is a bit of space in the back (brewhouse area) with some high top tables. Pretty open feel to the whole place with lots of tall windows make up most of the wall space facing the street. They have a number of year round beers that come in the tasting flight and a handful of special beers. The best of the bunch was certainly the coffee porter. In general I wasn’t terribly impressed with the beers, though. |
72 /100 Total Wine & More - Palm Desert (Beer Store) 72339 HWY 111 Huge store with a ton of choice, not much refrigerated. Decent selection of rarer items and tons and tons of singles. |
74 /100 Whole Foods Market - Palm Desert (Grocery Store) 44459 TOWN CENTER WAY This is one of the better whole Foods I’ve been to, with a small tap room with some really nice things on tap. |
70 /100 Whole Foods Market - Palm Desert (Grocery Store) 44459 TOWN CENTER WAY Nice new spot. One big beer alley with lots of local, regional, national and a well chosen international group as well. Typical for Whole Foods overall. |
82 /100 Total Wine & More - Palm Desert (Beer Store) 72339 HWY 111 Pretty impressive wine and beer spot. Huge aisles of beer with lots of great local, regional, national and international. Prices seemed ok. |
62 /100 Bristol Farms - Palm Desert (Beer Store) 73101 COUNTRY CLUB DR Great grocery store in an area that is lacking a Whole Foods. Similar in selection and deli, beer selection is average in most places but quite good for the area. If you are down here on vacation, this is one best options. Decent beer selection with some SD stuff that I didn’t see other places and few imports. |
60 /100 77917 WILDCAT DR Located just off the 10 in a business complex behind some chain stores, easy to find. There isn’t much here in the Palm Desert, so keep that in mind. Taproom is in the front corner of the brewery with just a couple of walls and then an opening into the brewery. Five house beers on and two ’special’ brews when we visited. Service was good, but I didn’t really ask him any specific questions. Place was clean, decent prices and no food. Not worth going out of your way for, but if in the area and want to try some local beer that its worth a taster tray. |
94 /100 Total Wine & More - Palm Desert (Beer Store) 72339 HWY 111 It may be the most impressive liquor store I’ve ever visited. Best selection of beer, wine and spirits in the United States. Prices are very good as well. BevMo needs to step up their game to compete. Beer and wine tasting every day for a nickel. |
86 /100 Total Wine & More - Palm Desert (Beer Store) 72339 HWY 111 We visited this beer and wine store on 3.1.2013. Was not too impressed about their wine selection, very US centric, however the beer selection is impressive. They have almost all important West Coast micro brews and a solid international variety. We purchased for instance the Double Bock from Schlenkerla. The best beer selection in the valley. They also do beer tastings. |
66 /100 77917 WILDCAT DR We visited this brewery on 2.1.2014. They opened 2 months ago. Nice place, brewery with a small pub. You can sit in the brewery on a beer table, good experience. The beers are ok, we really liked the Coffee Porter, the IPA and the Wheat were average. They have potential to develop.

56 /100 Bristol Farms - Palm Desert (Beer Store) 73101 COUNTRY CLUB DR This is a very nice grocery store. We stopped to pick up some supplies while on vacation. The beer selection is a bit better than your average grocery store but nothing too special. What they did have seemed reasonably priced. Wouldn’t think this place is worthy of ratebeer places, but since there isn’t too many options in the area I can see why it’s listed. |
58 /100 Bristol Farms - Palm Desert (Beer Store) 73101 COUNTRY CLUB DR Worth checking out every once in a while. They have one beer aisle with a few decent selections. Not too many surprises and virtually nothing in the way of special releases. At least they let you break six packs though. |
40 /100 Buffalo Wild Wings - Palm Desert (Restaurant) 72920 HIGHWAY 111 Decent place for beer, wings and TV. Good sports bar but that’s about it. Service is poor for a corporate chain. At least there’s 3 New Belgium and 3 Hangar 24 beers on tap that make for a decent drink or two. |
44 /100 Trader Joe’s - Palm Desert (Grocery Store) 44250 TOWN CENTER WAY # C6 I had heard a bunch about Trader Joes being a fairly good place to shop, but maybe this location is just bad. Had a limited selection of anything besides their own label. Had almost no bombers of anything. Cheap (ish) for sixers of Firestone Walker and Stone. |
