| 36 /100 Lord Wimborne (JDW) (Bar) 59 LAGLAND ST “Cross the level crossing from the railway station and turn left and you will find this Wetherspoons. It's a Victorian style building and apparently used to be Poole Library, seems a shame that Libraries have to close to me. There is the normal Spoons hustle in here, some vague queueing system at the bar for the snail paced service. It was the queue for the single coffee machine that most fascinated me with up to 30 people waiting. It's popular for a reason so far be it for me to be too hard. The beer range was pretty poor. Can we turn it back into a Library?“ |
| 58 /100 3 DEAR HAY LANE “I seemed to have to cross a large car park area to get to this, it's off the central Poole area. The pub itself seems to be a couple of linked cottages knocked through. It was quiet in here, a bit of a theme for this chain these days. People in wellies walking around so presumably they are still brewing here occasionally. There were 2 cask ales on the bar, claimed by the brewery but very similar to the beers found round the chain now. . It's a comfortable space in there, it's worth a look.“ |

It's now a Frome Brewery pub with 2 of their own beers on and 2 guests on this visit. Seems to have lost some of its heart here from when it was a very good pub. Still worth popping in.“ |
| 68 /100 3 DEAR HAY LANE “A large brewpub and restaurant with a super selection of 23 draft beers, 13 of which were their own. Lots of wood and a nice tiled floor in front of the bar. Working WiFi and friendly staff. The place was virtually empty when I visited on a Saturday evening which was a shame. One wonders how long the business can survive with this level of custom. They even closed an hour earlier than the advertised time.“ |

Very good tap house for the brewery which was offering a good range of there beers most of which were nicely done. Flights of 4 available. Some parking available out front. Definitely one to check out if down this way.“ |

Friendly helpful service. Taps plus bottles to take out. Liked it here.“ |

There is a small tasting room serving a couple of their own beers on cask and keg along with a guest lager and cider. They also have a few bottles for take away. Very friendly service.“ |

However my chicken burger was essentially two goujons in a bap and the haloumi in my wife's haloumi burger was basically uncooked. Had only just reopened following lockdown so won't complain that only a few cask beers had been brewed. Was relatively lively for a Monday lunchtime.“ |

Large one-roomed pub with a long bar to the right offering two rows of five cask ales in each. We found a few more beers from the autumn festival, served in thirds. Service was okay. Cottage-like building with a patio in front, and a rather long room inside, brewery plant to the right and the bar to the left of the entrance. Nine of their own beers on cask and keg, beer flight of thirds available. Friendly service showing us around and telling us about their beers. Opens before noon. Likable place. Open fire place. 10 cask ales, still with a few festival beers among them. My traditional breakfast with orange juice and coffee was just what I needed after a rather long journey. Very squished inside - I found out later that they have a much roomies upstairs - but there are a couple of tables outside where one can bask in the shadow of Poole Quay. I am here in the off-season (just) but I did expect more than this. Seven keg lines, of which four were mega macro (Guinness, Carlsberg) with the other three being dedicated to micros. These have a decent selection - Kettlesmith, Pig & Porter and Eight Arch - and the price is fine. No bottles or cans that I could see, and no cask beer. Not a destination but as your choices are limited in Poole you may end up here.“ |

Nice sunny garden though quite small and gets busy. Typical B&K beer selection. Good food. Very angry kitchen staff on duty the day we were there!“ |

Nicely wooden and not too modern look inside with beer stickers all over one wall, kegs hanging around on the floor and a small selection of seats at the bar and to the back. The beer selection is keg only for tap, with 12 taps of varied interesting UK beers half of which were ticks for me. There’s also a small selection of cans and bottles in the fridge. Friendly and helpful owner and usual prices for craft beer. A really nice little addition for Poole and I’ll certainly return some day.“ |

Also cans from Milk St available for £2. Fairly quiet when visited on the afternoon of Christmas Eve but definitely worth popping by if you’re visiting Poole.“ |
| 74 /100 Brewhouse (Bar) 68 HIGH ST “A small local in the middle of the pedestrian shopping street of Poole. Serves as the tap bar of Milk Street Brewery. Had 3 beers there - ZigZag, Chocolate Stout and Bobbled Amber, all served and tasted lovely.
The pub itself is small and narrow with a couple of pool tables at the back and a bay window looking onto the shopping street, and mainly occupied by locals.
Worthwhile to check out if in the area.“ |

Food was below average for a JDW, not a particularly nice atmosphere.

A flying visit on a Thursday night en-route to Swanage. Worth a look in.“ |
