70 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD Visited in August 2021. Despite other people on Ratebeer recommending this chain, I'd never found one of their stores... until by chance we stumbled across one in Clitheroe. So... it's not quite as smart-looking as the main supermarket chains. However, it did have much more local produce than the main chains, alongside a large deli bar and a machine for squeezing delicious fresh orange juice. The beer selection seemed very good... loads of beers from Lancashire & Cumbria (including micro's that were new to me at least), alongside a larger selection of Belgian and German brews than the other supermarkets. The staff seemed friendly, and prices were a little (but not much) higher than the major supermarkets (as you'd expect for a smaller chain). Overall I liked it... although I do wonder if some of my liking was due to novelty, and whether if I'd always shopped at Booths I'd be even more impressed on my first visit to a big Tesco's. Nevertheless, I'd definitely visit again if I saw another one. |
74 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD Small but classy northern based supermarket chain (covering Manchester - Lancashire - Cumbria - Yorkshire), similar in standard to Waitrose in general. They have possibly the best selection of any supermarket chain in the UK. Always plenty of local options available , both trad & craft |
76 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD This place beats most beer stores, if you like me are looking for local brews. There was about 40 or so beers from Cumbria, quite a few from Lancashire and many many others from all over the UK. Maybe around 200 beers total with the vast majority being craft beers. Cheap too. |
70 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD Kendal: This Booths had around 40 different beers from Cumbria, and many of them were new for us. They also had a large section of Lancashire beers and a good craft section as well. They had beers from the rest of the UK too. A very easy place to pick up rates from Cumbria and Lancashire. Good service for a grocery store.
I really do not understand, why all these stores have to listed under one, as they have a very regional focus. It was easily the best place in town for local ticks, and yet it is not allowed to be on RB. What a strange policy we have on this point. |
72 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD I have managed to find 4 Booth’s Supermarkets on our foray’s up to the North West and each time the range has been pretty decent. Mostly regional choices with a few standard nationals thrown in, but also the odd imported gem. Always well worth a look, otherwise they are just normal Supermarkets. |
78 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD I had heard great things of this supermarket chain based in the North West of England. Finally I got to pop into the Ilkley branch. I wasn’t disappointed a decent selection of local national and international beer. Well worth a visit. |
72 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD Unfortunately regional, the beer range has always been excellent, especially in the larger branches. Local micro breweries share shelf space with both region brewery bottles and a good selection of international brews |
76 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD Been to four different ones now and the Knutsford outlet four times. Always a good selection of local and foreign beers on offer: food quality is also very good. Not cheap, but the quality over rules that. I make the effort to try and find one if we are in the North West of England. |
74 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD We visited the Penrith location of the Booths supermarket chain. As other reviewers have noted these guys provide the best beer selection of any supermarket in the UK. There was a whole aisle dedicated to good beer, which was separated out by country and UK region. It covers everything from local real ale to high-end UK and US craft beers. It was great to see so much canned Beavertown in a supermarket! Although I didn’t dwell they had a decent selection of cider also. Definitely worth stopping past if you are anywhere near one. |
76 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD The best supermarket choice bar non. Great range of local and international ales you don’t find anywhere else hats of whoever does the sourcing expect to pay a little more than your regular supermarkets but worth it. |
76 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD This is a review of the Knutsford store. This place makes Waitrose look like Lidl. The beer range is extensive and would equal many a small bottle shop. Selection is mainly British, with some stuff I’ve not come across before. Craft range is small and the choice of continental beers could be a bit more. I don’t know how often they get new beers in, but I’d definateley come here again |
72 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD You’ll need a trolley here. A selection that embarrasses every other English supermarket, many off licenses and dedicated beer stores; some Belgian warehouses. Nothing especially ’craft’ but an extensive range of English divided by region; some Belgian, Icelandic, US and German stuff on my last visit. Unmissable when in The North; in fact, a reason to visit The North in itself. |
78 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD Regional based supermarket with a wonderful selection of local and national real ales, not simply the larger brands you see in the big chain supermarkets. |
78 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD Fantastic beer selection, easily the best UK supermarket. Range and price of beers excellent, with a strong focus on British ales. On my current trip home to Preston noticed the foreign section has improved as well - Weihenstephaner Vitus in Preston! The food’s good as well. |
74 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD With 28 locations around the North West this chain of.supermarkets has tue best selection of seasonals and local beers. Each store may carry something special from the local area. Amazing selection makes it worth visiting several different branches |
68 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD Boths in all its locations carry the best supermarket range of beer in the UK. Well worth stopping in if your passing any of them |
72 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD A fantastic beer range. Lots of local microbrews. Far more ales than you’d ever find in the largest of Tesco Extras. |
66 /100 Booths Supermarket (Various Locations) (Grocery Store) LONGRIDGE ROAD Located close to the Windermere Railway Station, this medium-sized supermarket offers a fine selection of english (and scottish) bottled Ales - compared to Tesco Superstores even a great selection ! If You can’t make it to Keswick, when You are in the Lake District, try this shop......... |
