“If you are doing a Pune craftbeer tour, Effingut should be a part of it. Having said that...although the place is cool (English pub-ish...you will love the cheeky signs on the walls), the beer itself is not really memorable. I found the place and the beer to be somewhat "corporate" in nature...which is another way of saying generic. I did their sample board...they only had 8 of the 10 slots on the sampler platter available...and none really stood out for me. In fact, I thought the beers were rather lackluster and mundane. I was able to talk to the owner thanks to a pre-intro from JJ The Keg...and although I got some good history from him on the place...I still couldn't find anything exceptional to say about his beer. If in town for a few days and doing craftbeer...give it a visit...otherwise...don't feel bad if you pass this place by (craftbeer-wise at least).“

“Very nice looking place with a cool vibe...outdoor seating and grilling...inside is welcoming. I sat at the bar...and thanks to my buddy JJ The Keg Eapen (Tales of Froth), the owner was anticipating my arrival and welcomed me shortly after I sat down. We sat together and sampled some beers and talked about all things brewing. Great owner and great conversation. I sampled all 7-8 beers and enjoyed them...and a couple, thoroughly. The Juicy IPA was probably my favorite...the kolsch was also very enjoyable...there was also a wit, hefe, saison, and marzen. I found Independence to be the best of the Pune breweries...should be a must visit when in town.“

“Pune’s first brewpub. One THE places in the state of Maharashtra to buy a decent, fresh glass of beer. The regular assortiment is ok, but not adventurous, seeing that Oliver (the German brewmeister) has to cater for the unripe market of India. His seasonals on the other hand, can be terrific. i personally lovbed his Düsseldorfer Alt. true class. I would visit the place more often, were it not for the fact that it is situated a long way from the city center of Pune and that getting there takes me more than 3 hours :-(“
