“Located on the outskirts of Brussels and only open for two and a half hours once a week on Saturday. Tilquin might not exactly be the most accessible location by public transport, but the trip is definitely worth it🌾🐓! Pierre Tilquin was very kind to give me an in-depth tour of the brewery explaining what currently works well, and what he hopes to improve in the future 😊. The selection mainly consists of new blends with a few vintage bottles exclusively available at the bar. I shared two bottles with Thomas Debelder (owner of the 3 Fonteinen restaurant) and Pierre Tilquin who apparently also worked at Cantillon as an intern. It's always a pleasure to absorb knowledge and stories from the world of lambic 🧐 Cheers!🥂🍾“

“Toer de Geuze 2019 visit to the blendery. Festive outdoor atmosphere with a pig roast, food truck, and a huge beer tent with seating and multiple lines for beers. Beer highlights for me were trying the draft Meerts, Faro, and Assemblage D'Lambics. A couple of experimental offerings, Exp. Fruit Series #2 Mirabelle (Plum) and Gueuzerable. Otherwise it was mostly what's available in bottles. The beer lines got long after awhile, but they tried to keep up with multiple servers, who were mostly volunteers I believe. The tour was fun, and Rich Soriano was leading the english groups. Nice to see the barrels stacked high, bottles aging, and kegs stacked up too. Behind the brewery you can see the beautiful pastoral landscape that extends to the border of Flanders/Wallonia. Inside the loading dock, there were merch tables set up, bottles including a special magnum release, and I left with a shirt and small recipe book. Managed to talk with Pierre Tilquin for a second and thank him, and then was serendipitously introduced to a mutual friend I hadn't yet met in person. A memorable and unforgettable experience. Great vibes and enthusiasm from the staff and crowd here. Overall it was a great stop, just a bit crowded during the fest weekend, but there were many volunteer staff on hand to handle the crowd. Tilquin is a world-class lambic blender, and it was great to finally make the pilgrimage here. Santé!“

“Visited on the last open day before the summer shut down. The place ii in the middle of nowhere and is a bit tricky to get to. Once there we were very well taken care of. Nice guided tour by Pierre himself, and then some free tacos afterwards. Only big bottles in the bar to sample. Some interesting stuff though.“

“Visted on the last opening dag of the year. Guided tour with the Brewer, quite interesting and very clean. A wee visit in the warehouse shop. Great selection in the “tap room” found som new brews. Clean toilets. Not that easy to find, train + bus + few hundred meters of walking. Free Texas tacos in the shadow - amazing stuff!“

“Small difficult to find and reach in Rebecq. You can pick up the seasonal and regular stuff. Was offered a glass of lambic. Friendly and authentic.“

“Visited during Toer de Geuze 2017. Located just over the border between Flanders and Wallonia, in a green area. Quite large place with a warehouse and a spacy garden, always interesting to see where lambic beers are produced. Had that draft version of Quetsche and bought a few large bottles to take home, from Pierre Tilquin himself. Worth a visit, if only to have a few of their lambics right at the source.“

“Visited during TDG 2017. It’s a bit hard to rate this place since there was simply not much to see. A lambic blendery is Always a cool thing to see, but nothing here seemed truly different or unique ( however, we did not take the tour, so... ) It was a nice stop at TDG, yet - as Always with Tilquin - the beers were more expensive than most to all other places.“

“Once again thanks to Manuele from Macche in Rome I spent an incredible afternoon here with Pierre Tilquin who poured for us directly from the big aging barrels many different lambic of different ages that then will be blended for the gueuze tilquin.. so our visit was very didactics and training for knowing this kind of brew .. on plus he opened some special bottle for us with rarities difficult to find anywhere else ., so thanks again Pierre for your patience , kindness and generosity..“

“A nice open space a little out of the way. The blender is a very nice guy who loves to get hands on. There during TDG, but beer and hospitality were superb.“

“Visited on a Saturday morning. The owner gave us a tour of the facility, which is basically a warehouse with lots of wooden barrels. Some of the barrels were fermenting. After the tour we were offered a free sample of his Faro, because he had a leftover from a recent festival. Some of their bottles are for in house consumption only, so I sat down and had a Pinot Noir and bought a few bottles to go. The great thing about drinking big bottles by yourself in a place like this with other beer geeks, is that you easily get to talk to like minded people and we all start sharing beers.“

“One time a year, during the English Beer Festival, this is THE place to be. The rest of the year, it is what it is. A warehouse where wort is aged into lambic and then blended into geuze or fruit beers. Wasn’t very enthousiastic about the couple of times I’ve been there before the festivals.“

“Visited during the Tilquin English Beer Festival. We had the chance to have a guided tour around the gueuzerie in English. The tour guide was friendly, informative and definitely passionate about gueuze. The tour was short but brief ad precise. The place is small but well organised. At the end of the tour we picked up some bottles at the shop. The prices were good. A good place to visit, to know more especially about the blending and of course pick a couple of bottles. They also had a few guest beers you could pick up at the store too. “

“Friendly master with a nice looking place full of beers, beer macinery, beer stuff and merchandise! When he opened the portal to the barrels, that was a magnificant wow! Amazing ! Looks awesome, steady, lively aroma, great stuff! Got a fresh beer and enjoyed chatting with the best man! Great place, easy to find, just across the Walonian border... Love Pajottenland, mysterious! Great beer. Make sure to visit when in the vicinity! Enough Quetsche for you to bring home!“

“Visited the barrel room with some comments from the owner. We got offered a tasting also. Bought a few Questche for a low price. Nothing spectacular but a fun detour to make.“

“Stopped by on opening day (Saturday morning). It’s a big warehous-ey place on the Walloon border, nice view outside but not a particularly charming place per se. Pierre was there with a small group of other customers, he took us around the barrel room and showed us what he did, pretty cool stuff. Got to try some Quetsche on premises and took home a couple dozen bottles. Great place to fill up on Tilquin at a reasonable price, Both gueuze and quetsche were under 10 euro a bottle here. More expensive than the old places, but still a great value product. Will return when I run out :)“

“Stopped in on opening day, when crowds were very tiny, and mostly francophone. Pierre was pulling lambik straight from the barrels and serving it by the pitcher. They also had bottles and a few taps. Very informal, with Pierre leading discussions and tours when enough people built up, and then answering questions when the crowds were light. Visited again during the Tour de Geuze 2013. Much more formal, and much bigger crowds in the blendery itself. They were roasting a whole ;pig on a spit, quite the sight to see, and you could line up (or queue, your choice) and grab a hunk of flesh, accompanied by various sides, very tasty - although I’m not entering a food rating, since food is not normally available on normal days, as far as I know. Nice to see this on the "other" side of the language line.“

“Visited during Tour de Geuze 2013. Almost literally a stone throws away from the Flemish “border”. I think that you probably have to go by car here because public transport might be tricky. Tour was kind of weird because I thought that we were being held hostage or something. They let us in and then closed off both the exist and the entrance. We were bit in a hurry – I just wanted to see the barrels etc. Still the tour was very informative. Meerts is very interesting and fun to drink. Owner is a cool guy from what I hear. Prices are really nice for what is a great product.“

“Visited for TdG 2013. Quite a small place. Despite the massive crowds, the ambiance remained relaxed and pleasant. A decent number of beers were available to try including a meerts. Prices for takeaway bottles were very reasonable. Overall, I’d love to come back on a random weekend to inspect the place without the hassle of the crowds.“

“Visited during Tour de Geuze. Good atmosphere, nice people.

I really liked that Pierre had Meerts available for tasting. Meerts might not be a great beer style in itself, but it is a historic style one can almost never try.

I had a good time, and there is a great frituur across the street for when you get hungry.“

“Visited here with ratebeer local sebletitje. So you head to the roll-up door on the right side of the new looking building, especially considering the age of almost all other buildings in the area. Pierre was a terrific host and showed us (me, Sebastian surely didn’t need the tour as he’s here often, lucky bastard) the whole operation from getting in the wort from four breweries, dispensing said wort into his large array of oak barrels, blending, fermenting and packaging. This is a smooth operation and it seems to me Pierre has a great thing going here. As other reviews have stated before this is a production Gueuzerie where you can a buy bottles, cases of bottles, kegs likely, glassware and at times T-Shirts. This is not a brewpub.“

“I stopped by during the week after Borefts. Pierre was friendly and very helpful. I did manage to score one of the plum lambics and some Guezue glasses while I was there. I rated the place I high as possible, there is just not much there other than a brewing/blending house“

“Nice to load up on some gueuze again. Pierre is a really nice and friendly guy. But still, I can’t rate this any higher, because it’s still just an old building where you can buy some beer :p“

“The newest of all Belgian gueuze blenders. A great place to visit. Lays behind a car garage, just drive through it and park your car at the back. Only open from sept till feb(?) only on saturdays (!) from 10am till 13pm. You can drink some lambic from tap, and buy the old gueuze. Very nice to see the barrels, bottle line, bottle stock etc. Pierre is a very friendly guy, full of passion, and speaks french, dutch and english.“

“Updated Aug 2012: Small warehouse like building, housing roughly 200+ barrels. Atmosphere? well, go there for the experience, chat with Pierre, sit outside and breath in centuries of history. Choice wise, get the Ancienne that’s available in bottles plus occasional draft selection, Faro or Meers. Prices cannot be beaten, buy direct from the source. Another place that in my view is worth a 100, Pierre loves what he does and shows it in his products and service. The place is not a bar or a tourist shop !!

Needed to update again: the place definitely is not a bar where you can come and drink a beer. The only time this is the case is during the yearly open doors event. Other than that, it’s fun to stop by and chat with Pierre and reload on Tilquin beers.“
