56 /100 Garland (Harvey’s) (Bar) 5 BRIGHTON ROAD Medium-sized brown pub in central part of Redhill. Outlet for the Harvey's brewery with a three of them on cask, and some on bottles. We had a rather well-kept Old Ale. Friendly service and a good Saturday night vibe. (Visited with Finn 19.10.2019). |
64 /100 Sun (JDW) (Bar) 17-21 LONDON ROAD We visited the pub during JDW's autumn festival in October, and they had seven of the festival beers, which is a pretty decent number. Quite alright open-plan room with a half moon bar. Attentive service. Located close to the train station in Redhill. Over par for a spoons. (Visited with Finn 17.10.2019). |
68 /100 Garibaldi (Bar) 29 MILL STREET A rather small sized free house located about ten minutes from the train station in Redhill. Four rotating cask ales from regional breweries, and a few craft beers on keg. A well-kept pub with a local feel. Welcome and friendly service. (Visited with Finn 16.10.2019). |
60 /100 Garland (Harvey’s) (Bar) 5 BRIGHTON ROAD Harveys pub. Well kept beers. |
66 /100 Sun (JDW) (Bar) 17-21 LONDON ROAD Large modern ´spoons with a good selection. |
68 /100 Garland (Harvey’s) (Bar) 5 BRIGHTON ROAD Visited 6/1/19,, Sunday mid day. Located a 10 min walk south of the railway station. Big white corner building with a nice pub sign welcoming us. This was my first encounter with a Harveys pub, and the Sussex Best was one of the best beer on the whole England trip, so delicate and smooth, we had a pint each and also a half of the Christmas Ale. Lovely traditional place with old pub games as bar billiard |
74 /100 Garland (Harvey’s) (Bar) 5 BRIGHTON ROAD Visited on trip to 22 southern counties with OGJ and EE 06.01.19. A friendly local boozer with 8 handpumps, of which 6 were on at our visit. All served without sparklers. They had a game room with an old bar billiards table and darts. |
62 /100 Sun (JDW) (Bar) 17-21 LONDON ROAD Locals warned me off going here but actually it's not bad. Staff were really good, beer selection pretty good, atmosphere was pleasingly non-threatening (didn't need the stab vest after all) and the place itself is a big open plan building in typically 'spoons style. Certainly had worse pub experiences. |
68 /100 Garland (Harvey’s) (Bar) 5 BRIGHTON ROAD Warm welcome, friendly locals, decent ales, comfortable surroundings. GBG 2018 entry. Harvey's specials. Dart board. Bar billiards. Food available (though didn't eat here). What's not to like? This is a proper enjoyable English pub. |
64 /100 Garland (Harvey’s) (Bar) 5 BRIGHTON ROAD Man, the last time I was here... must have been about 15 years ago. And to be honest it hasn’t changed much. It’s well-loved and traditional as you like. It’s a Harvey’s pub, and the selection won’t blow you away: three casks (IPA, Armada and Sussex Best), Malt Brown on keg and a bottle or two in the fridge. They advertise Old Ale (and I’ve had it here yonks ago), but it’s not on today. Drat. Three Weston’s Ciders which adds choice but to be honest you could get most places. It’s got a lovely vibe though, and if you like Harvey’s well you’re laughing. At the time of writing they’re doing Romanian food the first Thursday of every month, so that’s pretty cool. |
68 /100 Sun (JDW) (Bar) 17-21 LONDON ROAD I think this is a cut above your normal Spoons. The decor is old and tired, and it’s quite large. It’s the real ale festival, so that selection is probably better than usual, but it’s the craft keg that caught my eye: two Dark Star (APA and Revelation) plus a Windsor and Eton, and a brewery I’m not familar with. Slightly expanded bottle selection. You could certainly do worse in Redhill. |
88 /100 Garland (Harvey’s) (Bar) 5 BRIGHTON ROAD A true traditional locals pub in town and about 7 minutes walk form the railway station, this has been a Harveys Brewery pub for at least 20 years serving their regular ales and seasonal ales. Very rarely had a pint thats not in top condition.
A must do place when in the area.
Food hours are limited - normally served weekday lunchtimes and Sundays. |
40 /100 Sun (JDW) (Bar) 17-21 LONDON ROAD It has its ups and downs I guess depending on who is manager at the time.
More recently the service has been sloppy and ale range not so goo so have often walked out due to the wait to get served even on a quiet evening. A typical open plan ex showroom building with no real character. |
64 /100 Sun (JDW) (Bar) 17-21 LONDON ROAD Located on the high street, it is a ground floor affair in a corner building and the bar occupies this area in a diagona spacel to its right angles. The decoration is the usual soft furnishings with uniform wooden chairs and tables, but there’s plenty of them so space is not an issue. At the bar which is central to proceedings there’s two rows of real ale pumps. |
