74 /100 RUA GIRASSOL, 340, VILA MADALENA
“Really great, lively place that gets live music some nights. It was super busy when we visited on a Friday evening at about 10pm. 40 taps, with 2 sizes of beers available (285mL and 473mL). They have 3 preset flights, but no custom flights, though staff will give free tastes before you order. Good selection, but you're at the mercy of the main haphazard Brazilian beers on the market. Cool spot to try many different Brazilian beers. Mandatory visit in Pinheiros I'd say, only second to EAP.“

“This was the only Dogma we visited on our quick trip to SP, as the Pinheiros location recently closed down. Cool spot, just off Oscar Freire. Modern, hipster place with a dozen+ taps. Custom flights of 6 x 80mL pours for about R$ 70 + service charge, a decent deal. Beer quality is all over the map -- the hazy we tried was god awful (even worse than usual) and the WC IPAs were much better. Super friendly service as per usual in SP, with one guy who spoke great English. Definitely worth stopping at a Dogma tasting room when in SP.“

“Just off Paulista Avenue, this is a happening place. No flights or small pours, just 300mL or 450mL pours, though staff will do tastes. Good taplist of varied styles from some of the better Brazilian breweries. Tons of bottles and cans -- local and imports -- available too. Friendly service, with one guy who spoke very good English. One of the better stops outside Pinheiros.“

“Real nice tasting room, close to EAP and Goose Island. They had a dozen or so beers on tap, mostly unambitious styles, but they had a couple saisons and WCIPAs that piqued my interest. I got a flight of 4, plus tried a few others. They had a killer WCIPA that rivaled California IPA quality, but none of their other beers were close to as high quality. Friendly service -- broken English and Google Translate can get you buy. Worth a stop when touring around Pinheiros.“

“One of the better stops in the Pinheiros neighbourhood, boasting 20 taps of their own beer, with 100mL pours of everything available. Sadly, half the taps were (incompetent) hazies and their WCIPAs weren't great either, but their imperial pastry stouts are worth a trip for alone. We also cracked a bottle of one of their many BA impie stouts (pricy as hell: R$ 115 / 375mL bottle) to enjoy. Worth a stop given how ticker-friendly it is and for their stouts. Pleasant, friendly service.“

“Probably the best craft beer bar in the centre. They had 18 taps when we visited mid-afternoon, and no one else was in. They had 3 bartenders working though and one spoke some English. They do various sizes depending on the beer -- sometimes even 100mL pours, which is nice. Quite pricey on some stuff. They had 3 imperial stouts/porters when I visited, which was cool, plus some other eccentric stuff that I wasn't a fan of (e.g., pickle gose, imperial sour with coffee, guava and strawberry). One of the big beers I got was massively infected; the bartender agreed and didn't charge me, which was nice. Not the most comfortable or inviting spot, but worth a stop if in the centre.“

“Tucked away inside Mercado Municipal and a bit tough to find. Just walk around a bit and you'll find it. They have room for 10 taps, but only 5 of them were populated when I visited with mostly nothing of interest. The guy working there really tries to pressure you to order fast and keeps pouring samples in tiny little paper cups, which are tough to get an impression from. Only one size available (330mL or so). They also have bottles/cans in a fridge, and I found something more of interest in there. The market is chaotic and not particularly comfortable, so I wouldn't exactly recommend visiting this place unless you're already in the area. With EAP in town, nothing can really compete.“

“Good spot in Pinheiros, with 15 taps. 190mL pours of everything for rather steep prices. Nice selection, but nothing overly ambitious on tap. No English spoken by anyone, so Google Translate and pointing gets you by; staff are incredibly kind and helpful. Nice vibe inside, with plenty of bar seating. Worth a stop.“

“Great spot that matches the vibe of the original Clybourn brewpub in Chicago. Modern, stylish spot, with a dozen or so GI SP beers. Flights available (custom ones for 52 R$). Staff don't speak much English, but we found one guy with decent enough English to communicate with easily. Beer quality was decent -- the cashew & guava kettle sour I had was honestly fantastic; the rest were just OK. I'd say this is worth a stop when in SP.“

“Oakes was high. This place sucks big time. They have about 8 taps, but only do 0.5L and 1L growler fills. You can drink them on premises for whatever reason. No samples. The guy is a prick. No English spoken. The two beers we tried sucked. Avoid the place.“

“Killer place. Modern craft beer bar, with 43 taps, 600 bottles/cans, with mostly Brazilian stuff on tap, plus some (expensive) Belgian stuff. Flights available, but those are just 4 x their small pours which you can order in singles. They had a bunch of pastry stouts on tap, some WCIPAs, lagers, and way too many hazies and kettle sours. Definitely some of the most exciting beers I've had in South America. Can/bottle-wise, they have tons of great Brazilian beers. The imports are great too, but you'll pay out the ass for them. Service is not great. Almost no English spoken, but regardless, despite me trying my best to communicate, they weren't friendly at all and didn't seem to know their own menu very well. All in all, if you're in SP, make this place your priority.“

“Good spot, mix of taps (around 20ish) that are pretty well chosen and a fridge full of bottles. The bottle prices are a bit steep compared with other places in town, so make sure it's something you can't find anywhere else. Good service, and they have some pub grub, too.“

“Not gonna lie - this place has no business scoring so high on here. It's an older school brewery that hasn't kept up at all with where SP is today. I popped in for a flight, beers were old fashioned and just okay on the execution. The service was okay - they had a large group and seemed overwhelmed. But I'm not sure this is a top 10 place in Pinheiros much less the whole city.“

“Solid beer store in the central market. It's in a corner so not the easiest to find. There's 10 taps and a place to drink. Also, a small selection of bottles. You're probably better off shopping at EAP for the selection but since you're going to the market anyway, leave room for a pint and space in your bag for Santa Terezinha.“

“The SP tap room is handy for a lot of other beer places in Pinheiros. The brewery itself is in Ponta Grossa, Paraná. It was quiet on my visit, the proprietors were friendly, and they had a fairly substantial beer list, although the execution seems more dated than some of SP's finer breweries. Worth a quick stop, I'd say.“

“This one's close to the Pinheiros Dogma, and part of a solid crawl around the neighbourhood...though it's basically as far from EAP as you can get and still be in Pinheiros. I would say fairly typical 3 Brasseurs although I've only ever seen overseas once. Small selection - just one beer was unique to Brasil on my visit. Service was fine. Food was reasonably priced and quite good.“

“Popped into Croma, up a hill from Batman Alley. Split between open air and indoor, with beers available in small pours. Ordered a bunch of 100ml pours to try a few. High quality, lots of hazies, smoothies and pastry stouts. One of the better spots I went to in Sao Paulo, and SP has a solid beer scene.“

“EAP is fucking awesome. Best beer bar I've been to in the southern hemisphere, let alone South America. That's right, it's better than the finest establishments in all of Honiara, Melbourne or Mbabane. 40+ taps, all from the best breweries in Brazil. I knew I was fucked the minute I saw the chalkboard. Lambic bag in box. 600 cans and bottles of Brazilian beer (and then a few hundred more of very expensive foreign products). Seriously, I could live in SP and never run out of killer Brazilian beer because of EAP. I never saw anyone eat here, even though they have a menu. But beerwise, this place needs to be the first and last stop for any Ratebeerian going to Sao Paulo. Don't fuck around. Book an Airbnb nearby, too.“

“Decent place in Pinheros, bit on the hipsterish side, but I liked it. 8 taps and about 100 bottles. Lots of bars and restaurants in the area. Its one of those self serving beer places that seem to pop up all over Brazil. Well, they also pour 0,3l glasses for you, if you dont want to do it yourself, but thats only half the fun. Selection is not too impressive, none of the latest craze breweries (with the exception of Hocus Pocus). But I got to try 3 new breweries with some interesting styles for 10 Reais. Cant complain. Competitive prices. Cool music selection from pop punk ala Blink 182 to Bob Dylan.“

“Cool place that is around the corner from my Airbnb. I came for lunch. They were quite busy but I was able to get a table. They do lunch menus, which are a good deal. Veggie options are a bit limited. 15 taps with a width variety of breweries. Focus was on hoppy stuff, but they also had a few sours and some other styles. My waitress did not speak english, but service was good, efficient and fast. Food was pretty good too. They have a big double fridge with a nice selection of local craft beers. Lots of stuff in cans. The athmosphere during lunch was a bit too hectic for me, but overall this is a very cool place. Ah yeah, 200ml is the smallest size, but the waitress was happy to bring me a shot class of my beer beforehand (I did not even ask for it).“

“Another nice brewpub in Sao Paulo! 14 beers on tap, all theirs, I think. Very wide and adventurous selection, maybe with too much emphasis on juicy IPAs :) (there were THREE!). Service in English unfortunately was very scarce. Unfortunately I didn't try their food. Overall, another nice place to go in the neighbourhood.“

“Nice beer pub, with 40 taps. They had 32 beers the night I went. They had to call one guy in particular (the only one who could speak English) to serve me. Selection is obviously wide and satisfying. I had a burger, which was great! Prices are OK.“

“Nice place, close to a major road, with classy interior. Professional service, with good English. About 15 beers on tap. Some confusion on prices, as my beer was listed as 18 reais for half-pint, and in the end it was 9.90. Who knows! But overall, a nice place! Would like to try their food next time...“

“Nice bar in the bar area of Sao Paulo. Ambiance is nice and lively. Hundreds of bottles are in clear view in addition to the 42-43 taps. Wow! Waiters cannot understand English. A minus! Selection, as mentioned, is great! To be noticed: they are somehow obsessed with imperial stouts, as at least one third of the tap list of comprised of them. Food was good too: my friend and I had rice with pork. It was rather good. Prices were OK. Overall, a must!“

“Cool beer bar in the bar and restaurant area in Sao Paulo. Ambiance very lively and well lighted, full of people. A little too noisy, I must say. A good number of tables available, but you can also sit at the bar. Service is great, everyone understands English. They actually also post in English on their Facebook page. Selection is wide style-wise, from pilsener to pastry stout. Some are their own beers. My cheeseburger with gorgonzola was very tasty. Value is good. Overall, a super place! Incredible that it was still not listed on ratebeer. I had to add it!“

“Nice brewpub in the bar area of Sao Paulo. Ambiance is fairly relaxed, darkish light environment. Service is very attentive, but very limited English spoken or understood. I got their sampler, with five beers, but I counted seven on tap. As food I just had some fries, but they do burgers as well. Prices are good. Overall, a nice place to try.“

“Best place in Sao Paolo, for sure. Very old school look, with a long wooden bar. Close to 40 taps, slightly less expensive than other places, 150 ml pours are anywhere from 10 to 18 reais, emphasis on modern trendy styles like NEIPA, sours and imperial stouts. Good service if a bit surly. They use, as most places in SP, the bar code system. Huge selection of imports and national craft bottles, to go. This is a must in Sao Paulo. Free wifi.“

“They have a lot of beers here, i'd say 50-50 locals and imports, many drafts and a load of bottles. Ambiance is OK, generally packed and busy, the service method is weird you have a card number to order at the desk and they will bring you the drink. It seemed a bit pricey to me, 475ml cans of local beer goes in the 35-40 R$ range. Prices for cans/bottles are not exposed, you are supposed to pick one and check at the barcode scanner. But selection indeed is impressive and the area is nice, worth a visit.“

R. MANUEL GUEDES, 199 - ITAIM BIBI
“Probably the busiest place in Itaim Bibi. Very "local" tropical style, on the corner of the ward practically without walls and packed with nice people. Although they have a couple of 60cl "micros" what you go here for is a bucket of frozen Original. Great place to hang out with friends, food is also good and you can have dinner if you like being right in the action. Service is great also. Relatively cheap considering the area.“
