“Stopped in after a hike of Hunter mountain. Fine location in this little downtown. Decor leaves something to be desired. Nice little tap list for area, couple tasty options. Food was not great nor was service despite being friendly quite inattentive. I order the house IPA first then went for a saison and the bartender said "are you sure it’s a farmhouse saison", I said yes. He said "do you want to try first" I said no I’ll just have and he said "it’s like opposite end of spectrum from what you’ve just had". Anyways not sure what that conversation meant just was odd.“

“Nice new store close to home but... I was always told the main enemies of bottled beer are heat and direct sunlight. This store has hundreds of bottles sitting in direct sunlight, that make me wonder how they treat their other beers. This is basic stuff. I hope they see this. GOOD LUCK GUYS!! Update: they got shades that block all the sun. Staff is excellent! Growler price seems a little high. Selection excellent.“

“I stopped in for lunch on my to Saratoga Springs for a business trip. When I pulled up, I have to admit I wasn’t expecting much. It looked like a neighborhood bar that I’ve seen in countless towns. The inside is warm and friendly with old wood and some old lights, although space is at a premium. The bartender was friendly and helpful offering some beer suggestions and samples for my wife to try. There were 15 beers all together on tap, two of which were their own. The food was very good. I had fish and chips and I have to say it was one of the best fish & chips I’ve had in a long time. Not too far off the Thruway, I plan on stopping by from time to time when I travel in the area.“

“Stopped here last weekend on the way back from Lake Placid. I’m surprised I’d never found this place before...really a great location...almost adjacent to any north/south transit on I87...just minutes off exit 20. What’s really amazing is how good the food is here...really fantastic...and inexpensive too. Since thier brewery is small they only have 2-3 taps of their own at a given time...and add a nice mix of guest beers (Lagunitas Sucks the night I was there!). The place has a long history...and the play up the dutch heritage of the area...right doen to wooden shoe tap handles for their beers...wooden shoes on the wall...and a nice historical dutch mural on the wall. I was fortunate to meet the owner/brewer the night I was there...nice guy...great conversation. I highly recommend a stop here when driving I87.“

“Stopped by on a recent visit to NY with family, and of course they were out of their own beer. Nice local hangout, typical pub interior, good food, and a decent taplist. Got the tour of the little brewery, which consisted of the waitress taking us over to the window in the pool table room. It was easy to see why their brew goes fast. If you are in the area, a good place to stop.“

“Very impressed with this place. Honestly wasn’t expecting all that much when walking in here. The calm décor and dark old wood with dim lighting gives it an old pub feel and the amount of locals inhabiting the place, and on a first name basis with the servers (and more than that really, as they were talking about things from when they were all kids) does make it rather welcoming. The menu is well thought out and offers a wide variety of options from some standard pub fare like things, to some very vegetarian friendly options (it is Saugerties so this is probably to be expected a bit more than in other places) which was a great thing for me. Had some fantastic white bean dip and then meals. The house beers are not many, but are very well done. Staff was friendly, service was good, food and beer both good. I wouldn’t plan a big trip here (it’s about an hour away from me and at that distance I think it’s worth a visit), but if it’s within your drive, certainly worthy of a stop.“

“Stopped in here on the way up to Saugerties to visit the Dutch Ale House. Decent enough place with a good selection but I would be particularly wary of buying anything hoppy here. Definitely saw a good amount of IPAs that were over a year old. If I were passing through from out of state I might find a few things to buy, but I definitely would not go out of my way to get here.“

“Update:March 2013. They still do not have prices on the majority of their products. I mentioned that I dont like asking about the price of every beer I’m interested in. The loudmouth know it all behind the counter quotes prices that vary greatly to me over a two week period. I feel that they are fleecing their customers. I will never return. OK, If you are coming off the thruway you are two minutes from this store. Head into town and get ready to turn LEFT after you cross over the train tracks. You may miss the actual turn and go into the Saugerties Lumber parking lot since the turn is tight. An excellent selection of beers. 24 Taps for growler fills. Founders, Midnight Sun and a few other gems previously unheard of in these parts. Compact store with plenty of cooler space. The bottle return is awkward as it is at the farend of the building. No prices posted at the growler fill station (20 taps). Prices on bottles are also still spotty at best. Room for improvement.“

“Owned by the same folks as Beer World. Decent selction include some cold in the back fridge. My only advice is in line with Beer World. CHECK THE DATES. Most things are past peak freshness.“

“Update: Now brewing 2 barrels at a time. House beers don’t last long. This place is a hangout for myself and other Saugertisians. Inside has two rooms, the main room is narrow and long with the bar and booths. Next door feature the pool table. 15 taps always rotating except for 3. Rotating taps are usually of quality elixers. Food is good and somewhat reasonable. Service is friendly and usually good for a good conversation. Supposidly at some point this place is going to brew some house beers.“

“I’ve been driving [past this place for four years now and the wife and I decided to eat there for our 5th anniversary. The bttle selection is abundant and filled with most of the organic beers on the market. The restaurant is above average for the region and quite spacious and quaint in that adirondack shappy chic hunting camp turned yippie. My burger was spot on as was our funky mushroom appitizer. I had two pinkus unfiltered pilseners. Keegan ales and Ommegang on tap as well as one other I didnt bother to discern. I expected the regular BMC but it seems the head chef likes his beer too.“

“For a small town in upstate NY you will be surprised at the depth of the main 15 taps. Frequent rotation. The bottle list is pretty impressive too. It is a bit drafty so bring a jacket in winter. Darts. Pool table. Mug club. A bottle fridge at THE CORRECT TEMPERATURE! In fact I was served a perfect Pilsner Urquell here three days ago. I nearly felt like I was in Pilzen again if I held my eyes shut. The worn creaking floor and comfy booths make it hard to leave. They are stating that they will be making their own house ale. Stop here for a quick bite or watch the game, its not even five minutes from the thruway. Rock-paper-scissors contest. 3/27/2011: I go for dinner once per week. The rotating taps are always well kept. The kitchen is always trying new things. Don’t be surprised you cant get a table or find a space at the bar at peak hours. Service rate is high due to the fact I am a local. probably about an 8 in reality. 8/2011; Say hey to Johnny and his wife, they are some of the greatest people you will meet in your lifetime. the kitchen is consistent and does not let you down.“

“5/2008 Under New management that has nearly quadurpled the selection. I am looking forward to shopping here more often. Hooray finally a good local beer store. Ricky Patel is the new owner and has gladly hunted up a number of beers for me. The folks here have always helped me out and have ordered hard to find brew for me. Moved here two years ago and they added Weyerbacher to their shelves and is standard now.“

“First and foremost it’s a great restraunt. It’s like a big house, brightly painted with what looked to be a couple of additions for more dining room. Service has been good the two times I’ve been here. 6 taps, 3 Keegan ales (IPA, Stout, lager), 2 Ommegang (Witte, Saison) Brooklyn ’55 when I was there last. Pinkus Pilsner, Lindemanns, Woodchuck, Bud, Rolling Rock, Amstel, Red Stripe were in bottle. Food is great, varies. Meat eaters and vegatarians both can do well here. Go here and you’ll leave happy.“
